Not enough prim allowance for furniture

When you buy land in SL, that includes the sky above your land. You can live on the land or above the land ...or both. Many people in SL choose to live or build above their land so they don't have everyone and their uncle bothering them when they are working/relaxing/spending private time with another.

You need to buy the land under the skybox.

LOL! Glad I didn't make a home in the sky before asking. ROFL! Thanks for replying.

One thing - if your neighbors do decide they want to move from Blumfield (I don't think that would be you, since you are probably going to be active in the Neighborhood Association), I would suggest you mention to them that if they stay there for 3 months, they can sell their land.

And I want to buy land there, so whoever is selling at 3 months, I will be buying at least one plot!

I would LOVE to buy the land next to my house...the one next to the water. I have to wonder though how long that water will remain there. It's possible that eventually more homes will be built and they'll need that area for building. Since the houses all around me aren't bought, it's going to be a long time before anyone moves in...and then they may NOT want to leave. LOL!

I don't know how active I'll be in the community since I work all day and long hours...and then I'm zonked at night and get off the computer early. I'll try my best since I really like it there.

In all cases I'm aware of, when LL puts out a new Sim with water in it, and keep a portion of the underwater land as 'Protected Land' i.e. not for sale to residents, that does not change in the future. It's how they maintain a fairly constant continent shape.

I'm sure if they wish to expand the Blumfield experiment, they'll just add an extra Sim or two rather than squashing more lots into the Blumfield Sim.

Three posts for the price of one today :)

You can find furniture for only 2 prims each -- chairs, couches, tables, beds, etc. It's not the most beautiful of course with only 2 prims, but some aren't bad. Also, I saw a prefab house today that was only 4 prims. It was a very small simple house of course, but it would look ok in a snow zone. It should be possible to make it work with 117 prims if you're resourceful.

I'll be surprised if some of the Blumfield folks don't tear down their free houses and build skyboxes instead.

Something troubled me about this thread from the beginning, and it wasn't until today that I realized what. The SL business model seems to be based on people starting with free accounts, then buying land and realizing that 117 prims isn't enough, then teiring up. Blumfield works great for the first part, but people in Blumfield can't tier up! The other plots in that sim aren't available for sale.

There are a couple ways this could evolve. Maybe some residents will move out and the others could buy their land and use it for prim land. But when they delete the free house on the prim land to save room, there goes the nice row of houses and also the concept of a sim full of small landowners. Also the new owner might build a big house that spans several lots, which breaks the aesthetic just as well.

In any case, the unavailability of land is likely to discourage tiering up by all these brand new accounts... that can't be good for business.

I think the sim you are on has "end of the world" sides, rather than actual water sides. Water you can't go into and walk in. This means a new sim can pop up right on what used to be water/the end of the world. I enjoyed my shop being at the end of the world for a while, but then a new sim popped up there. So there probably isn't much use in wanting that particular spot.

That sounds mythological, as in:

One day, the villagers of Blumfield disappeared, and so did their houses, and they were later to be found in the skies of Second Life.

This thread is shaping to be such a great reference.

So now all I have to do is wait and see if someone on the lot next to me, (next to the water) buys and then in three months wants to sell :-) It would be GREAT if that happens.

I bought a house last night from Damanios...it's a two story with only 18 prims. It's actually very pretty, and it has built in security features with help. Instead of stairs...he has a teleport to the second level. It does stick out a little in Blumfield, but it's a good addition since it's so nice looking. It fits nicely onto my lot and even leaves me room on one side for whatever outdoor things I want to add...

Your thoughts on what Blumfield may become CAN happen...but we have a community association now...and maybe if we're really lucky we can keep it from becoming a mall. LOL! Maybe not, since someone turned their one story into a two story store from the very beginning...but it's up to the owner. All *I* can do is hope that someone around me sells in the future. We can't sell for three months of ownership...and if we choose to leave, (which I don't...LOL) we lose everything in Blumfield. It's a nice town right now, but it just may become what you said. I can actually see myself buying land near by and then deleting the house to have a pool or waterfall. We'll see what happens in the future.
