Sorry to hear that--the Free Dove is a great resource for new players. I send people there from New Citizens Incoporated all the time.

We have had similar attacks at NCI, too. Generally, they are just hit and run. If push restriction is set to "on" for your land, they bombs can do no real harm--just lag things for a bit. However, you can IM Live Help over a griefer, too. That may (depending on the load) get you an immediate Linden response.

If you do, also file the Abuse Report. And encourage other people there to do so, as well.

I wish I could offer more suggestions.

That aside, imho, the original comment about people being allowed into SL without a CC card is absolutely not the issue. Infact the statement is quite ignorant. People wonder why there's such a shnitzle storm in the world today? Ignorant people making ignorant judgements.

Now that aside, want to know what drives griefers? From my own experience, griefers have a very low entertainment threshold. For them, the shear reaction is good enough. To see people freaking out provides a great deal of entertainment. These forum posts alone no doubt are creating some good hefty belly chuckles amoung a few individuals.

How to deal with a griefer? Well, AR, then straight to Live Help. If a Linden can't come right away, guess you're out of luck. If one can, awesome. For me, I've always been able to get a quick response when griefers causes me trouble.

As for "Do I deserve BOMBS ath The Free Dove". Absolutely not but on the other hand, this is not a case of normal behaviour. Aborrant behaviour from individuals like this will always never make sense to the general populous. IMHO, the moment you run an event, get noticed or own an island, you do become a target. Its a risk of doing something big or good. How you deal with the problem will eventually make you either a bigger target or become undesirable.

Having said all this, my observations come from operating Spittoonie Island. For the first month, I had daily encounters with griefers, both mild and wild. After the first month, it stopped. Why? I held a 0 tolerance policy and ensured that I kept a direct line with the Lindens if I required their aid. Only once did I call apon them. After dealing effeciently and refusing to give them their much desired reaction, Spittoonie was no longer a desirable target as we both would give them no joy nor give them slack.

For those saying "There's more griefing", my response is, you're wrong. Having been in the community as long as I have, and others can attest to this, they've always been around. Who here can remember all of these events: WHat, WWIIOLERs, Mr Fairplay, Jessie Wars and the countless small operators that there were out there over time.

Griefers are inherit to the platform. By giving us the tools and the flexibility to create, Linden Lab also empowers the griefers. The rules are there, but there will always be a griefer to either skirt them or break them. This new "Push" toy is only a temp fix, particle bombs (one of the oldest griefing tools around) are back. The moment an easy fix is in place, the next tool will be picked up and used. As for particle bombs, if you enable the debug menu, you can disable particles from there.

Just my two cents. My heart goes out to those who suffer from griefers, but once you've experienced them, its up to you on how to learn how to deal with them best.

As for griefers, there's no real way to do deal with them except use the tools we have right now. I've had my fair share of griefers as of late, but so far my magic formula of make a report, send report, call Linden hasn't failed me yet. Of course it's also twice as effective when you have the sim officer helping to get rid of the griefer.

This is exactly why I started an anti rgeifing militia to stop these greifer attacks! just look at my thread to hear another story we must reshape and bring back SL Lindens dont help much so WE must!

A couple weeks ago, a person stopped by our rental area, started spewing racial slurs as i have never heard before. As this is a def TOS violation, i called live help, they said to file an abuse report, i said so you all can bury it for weeks ? A Linden was called in, she said nothing could be done unles an abuse report is filed, this is all in IM, i said come on over you can catch him in the act...she says file the report with copy of the chat..grrrr

Next time i plan on freezing the lil bastards, calling in all the tenants that have weapons and use them for target practice.
