What did I do to deserve BOMBS at The Free Dove??

I was attacked at The Free Dove !!!!!

Newbies were there, changing and grabbing freebies, all quietly when suddenly fumes of fire all over the store full of newbies. Nobody could see anything. Everything was yellow, orange, black... ALL in the store!!!!!!!!

Everyone was surprised. Tons of Duck Bombs by this strange person that wanted to play a stupid kid game.

Now, I immediately banned him but guess what? The guy had a huge weapon and was shooting from outside my land to inside my store. So he kept doing it and doing it, non stop for around 10-15 minutes.

What do people get from this?

I IMed the person to please stop it!, and suddenly he started talking to me in french. I said, I dont know what he meant in French, to speak english. He said to me, "Learn French Dumb.(*&#&!!!!

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.... I IMed a Linden but they didn't get to me after 45 minutes later to tell me to report the abuse.

Hmmm, of course that is the main thing I did along with all the other people that reported it.

Would something be done about griefers like this? NO!!!!! why do we have to put up with such a behavior?

I am tired of griefers that don't have anything else to do but bother people.

Would a Peacekeeper Team help on this situations? Reports dont do anything. But you get a "nice" generic email, so you feel that something is been done... RIGHT!!!

Anyway, I dont know what to feel anymore about stuff like this. It is a shame new people that come to SL have to do thru this. New people that really want to play the game right.

If you desire the name of this griefer, please IM me in world, so you can ban him from locations.

Time for a call to Live Help, ask for immediate Linden assistance due to a greifer attack. I've found they're usually fairly co-operative.

Unfortunately, some people just come here to cause grief to others, and have absolutely no idea what potential SL offers.

I am soooo sorry for living in a third world country where debit cards are just being introduced here and people like me (even if I'm working) have to depend on extension credit cards by our folks.

I keep forgeting that SL is only for Americans and, all being that its office is in American soil, that non-Americans like myself, particularly not living in such a great country like America, are considered as 'poor foreigners,' that are unwelcome to SL.

To Palomma - Lewis said it better. Before any Linden ever helps me out, I'm usually asked to fill up an abuse report. So before I even start calling, I report abuse, send and summon a Linden from Live Help (or search for a linden). So far it hasn't failed me yet.

Palomma, you did nothing to deserve this, other than have some people at your store. I think people like this just look for clumps of green dots on the map.

What I don't understand, is how much they can get away with it. I've asked about it before, and apparently not eveything ends up in the police blotter, but reading over time this kind of very common incident hardly ever appears, and when it's happened to me, nothing has ever appeared in the blotter, and the person has never disappeared from search for even a day. Other people I've spoken to report the same thing.

I'm not sure what is wrong with their system, but for some reason, this kind of incident doesn't appear to get a resolution, meanwhile the blotter is full of forum violations. What is it about lobbing bombs at people that is hard for LL to make a determination about?

If it's only a perception that nothing gets done about these incidents, then they need to address that perception, because it is one of the greatest sources of dissatisfaction in SL.

That individual has not played SL since March. Do what I do, put him/her on ignore.

Getting fire bombed shooting and or otehr grierfting childish action DOES require Linden control. But problem is these days those that use to control the childish action of its population are noware to be found. Mind you there are some mighty good Lindens inworld, but resently its protect yourself or get griefted!

From my brief time in SL it has become clear from my own experience and other comments that griefing is a major problem. In fact I think it is THE problem with SL. Many people join SL to build things, I think a large percentage of other residents think that it's equally as valid to join to shoot and bomb people. And as Fade suggested, these incidents aren't showing up in the Police Blotter. When I received an email saying my AR had been resolved, I took a look at the blotter and found no case involving shooting or bombing. I'm not sure if it's because it's difficult to get evidence. I didn't expect much to come of my report as I had no proof but it seems that no cases like this are being truly resolved. The problem is that if this behaviour isn't dealt with it will discourage people who want to create things at SL and encourage those who want to cause mischief.

And what makes you so sure he's French? I'm not American or British but I can speak English. I can also understand a bit of Spanish and well as Nihonggo, but I'm neither a Spaniard or a Japanese. I also understand that Canadians also can speak/have studied French as well and I'm sure there's more than one American out there in SL who can speak French.

Heck that guy could just be spouting Babel Fish crap for all you know.

I'm not getting involved in the name calling as I have recently met many Europeans who just joined without credit cards and they are very nice. I do like the idea of identifing griefers in some central data base so the general population can be aware of their actions and treat them accordingly. My AR responses of action resolved don't give me any confidence that anything was done.

I don't know how we do this but the honest friendly people of SL may have to police the actions of those few indiveduals who take pleasure in causing harm. I have met people who were causing problems and when I asked them to stop they apologized so we need to be careful and not hang too many innocent residents who didn't realize just how much trouble their fun was causing others. The idiots who bomb sims and cause crashes don't deserve second chances.

I will IM Palomma and get the name of that individual.

All this is focusing on the wrong thing, it’s not about race! Grief is universal and these people are in SL just to ruin everyone else’s day.

What is need is better enforcement of the TOS, not howls of rage about your pet peeve!

What I would like to ask the Lindens for is quicker enforcement when attacks are made on a mass of people, and stricter controls of the sources of Grief.

well, all I know, is that his comment was kinda racial to me too. Not only he bombs my place from next door land, when I tell him to speak english because I didn't understand his language, he took my comment bad and even called me dumb)&^ because I needed to learn French.

It is just an abuse in either way. Kinda racial to me and also behavior abuse.

The Help line doesn't help in that. I am sure what they would say is the famous phrase... "File an Abuse Report"

Anyway, nothing I can do at this point, but to give the name to all people interested out there, so this person doesnt enjoy SL to the max. You could be the next victim.
