From: Heuvadoches Naumova Ctrl-F Basic accounts are like illegal immagrants. We take the jobs that the rich players don't want. But we are still a viable and vibrant part of the economy. I'm even worse than that... I don't even HAVE a job! Hahaha.

From: Jesrad Seraph Aww, it was starting so good Your quoted price is for 1024 sqm, not 512 (which is included in the base 9.95 monthly price of Premium accounts... a price that can be brought down to $6 a month.). Although this ameliorates the condition he is describing, it does notmake it go away. It just bumps up the tier that he should be addressing. In the real case, it just means that there is a 512 sq m buffer of land that comes with the Premium account before tier fees, not htat you can really do much with 512. The fact that automatic return on investment gets worse as the land tiers go up is still a fact. That people with more land are having to either pay more out of pocket expenses, or go into business to support their tier fees was the point, I think, that he was trying to make. The incorrect detail does not invalidate the argument... it merely shifts the variables up 512 sq meters..

From: Persephone Phoenix If you want events content, whomever has worked hard to make it happen should do this for free. And be happy to provide you not ONLY with free entertainment, but with free money. (it is their duty! how else are the poor newbs to make anything if not? isn't that what we are doing in this forum? Training people to expect the events hosts to hand people money if no one will give them a job?) Events content makers mustn't ever expect to actually be paid in any workable fasion or they are in fact seeking entitlements! If you want materials content, whomever has worked hard to make it happen should do this for LOTS of Linden! And be happy to take not only your linden in game but to cash in your linden for RL money. *sigh* /applause This is a beautiful thing to be said, and sadly hasn't changed in a very long time. As an events holder, I know that for the majority of my work in radio has been done out of the goodness of myself and wanting to give back to friends, but yes, I agree that people who actually *run* clubs/venues/events are very much taking it up the butt. From: Persephone Phoenix Why could it not be the merchants who hire newbs? Why not have newbs selling your shoes? your hats? your tables? I'm sure they would do so enthusiastically for the first person to treat them to anything other than a boot in the arse and a gigantic purchase box on their heads. I still say this is the future of SL. I know tha, when I'm in stores, having someone's personalized attention to what I might be in the market for makes me very more likely to spend my money, and I know I've managed to sell people things just by happening to be in the store. If the salesperson has a copy of the items in the store, she can model it for the customer as well, eliminating that "Try as you buy" fear that everyone has. Right now, SL has an upper and a lower class. It truly needs to develop a middle working class in order to escape the "Create or Buy" mentality that is so pervasive.
