Aimee, if I were you, I would be less obsessed with the total throttling of Prokefy Neva and more concerned with the civil treatment of the people still remaining on these forums.

coco

Never once have I heard you say a word about the hateful things Prok has said and continues to say every day. What's the difference coco?

If people want to go looking for angry, drama filled, banned peoples blogs, so be it. But providing links to them from this forum is, in my opinion, innapropriate.

While I understand your reasoning, Ingrid, and whoever else said it, you just really can't make a message board rule that you can link to whatever you want EXCEPT to anything belonging to anyone who has been banned from the forums.

It's just too draconian, and too anti-free speech.

As for this particular issue, I think we are discussing what goes on on the SL forums. Where you should be feeling totally "safe."

I should imagine you'd have an issue with "safety" if you shared negligible geographic proximity with someone who made bizarre and repeated threats directly and explicitly at you.

Coco thanks for your input!

I certainly hear what you are saying about civil treatment. Last night was one of the first Linden meetings I have gone to in a LONG time without fearing snide remarks about my panties or accusations that I influenced the lindens to remove neg ratings, or demands that I reveal *PREEN* traffic...or whatever! I have got to tell you it was nice and I felt safe, encouraged to speak, and optimistic about future meetings.

Yes, your contribution was very fresh and amusing, and went down very well.

I wonder if Linden Lab deciding to close these public (non-Linden) forums becasue they're no longer providing them any useful input would be considered craconian and anti-free speech?

Probably so even if they left open the useful Linden and classified ones.

Even the idea of "goofs up in the forums" is a total complete joke. I have been called thingshere that would make my husband beat up the guy irl

Does that make us all feel safe now?

Khamon, I wish they would close them. I believe it was that person who is actually several people "Metaverse Reporter" or something, I forget his name, but it is some kind of reporter name like that, and is actually several people, anyway - he is the one who made me change my mind and decide we'd be better off without these forums.

Banned should mean BANNED.

Relaying chat for someone else is simply a way of getting around the ban illegally.

It's a bit like trying to ship something to the US from Cuba (which is currently illegal). Shipping it to Mexico first doesn't make it any more legal.

You can forget the dog pictures and whatnot. It is libelous or slanderous or whatever to get this RIDICULOUS thing going that another resident is threatening you personally, physically, irl, or at ALL.

I have seen no evidence of any such whatever. In the absence of such evidence, I object to this sly campaign getting going. Sometimes I don't know what gets into you all.

Actually a Black Russian Terrier might be more appropriate. They were bred to take down Russian bears. And they don't shed.

I'd prefer we don't have quoted text, puppet text, or links. I don't go cruising banned posters' blogs, and I really don't give a shit what they have to say. They were banned for a reason, and unless they've undergone some therapy or seriously personality-altering life experience, those reasons stand.

If others want to go seek out the drama and insult and outrage that was banned from here, that's their own business, but there's no reason to drag the turds back in here other than to stir the shit.

Exactly.

If someone was so negative and came across so poorly that LL had to ban them, then them being banned (or their blogs) isnt about anti-free speech, its more of a reflection of them abusing the free speech they had to begin with. Plus these forums were never open to complete free speech, we all agreed to the terms LL set forth.

Just read this thread - and it's easy to see why all this came down the way it did in the past.

Because - it takes two to tango.

But in this case, it took more than two; it took more like at least twenty to one.

Y'all are still tangoing with dog pictures and whatnot, even though your opponent ISN'T EVEN PRESENT.

And that's because - you actually love the dance.

Ayup exactly what Annah said. If SL Forums was the haven for free speech some think to believe it is, we wouldn't have moderators.

I don't find myself agreeing with Coco often, that isn't meant as a poor reflection on either of us, we just tend to have different views on most subjects. In this case, however, I'm agreeing with her point here - it seems to me that this thread has become a hardly masked assault on a specific person, rather than a debate as to the merits of the 'voices of the banned' in general, and I also find it rather weak tit that coco's being attacked for pointing this out.

The OP pointed out somthing which was commented upon by LL staff. It is a valid point for discussion and if someone injects themselves into the thread, they are open to comment or criticism, especially when it become dramatic.

BTW, What's a weak tit? ;)

I'm going to break my rule about the blackbird right now because this is important. Believe what you want cocoa. You may not see it, but others do. I was at a meeting yesterday with your favorite wacko and once again there were gratuitous, out-of-context nasty comments towards Aimee.

how is that you, who are an emotionally sensitive person, just kind of skip past the FOG of hatred, bitterness, put-downs, snideness that exudes from that person about aimee. It borders on obsessive -- emotionable stable? Yeah right.

I think how you were treated on these forums was deplorable. You find it unacceptable. But you are totally accepting of worse and more worrisome behavior from a close friend who you admire. Nice.

I'm not sure who you mean in this use of the OP , but of course your right that people are opening themselves to comment or criticism when posting, this is why I post so infrequently.

I guess I'm disappointed that what I'd hoped would be a "what do you think about this subject" thread has become a "we gotta stop that particular person" thread.

Addendum: I finally figured out that OP means Original Poster - I hadn't seen that as was thinking "Offending Party" - which really confused me.
