hey,

i'm a journalist for a woman's magazine back in the UK and we are looking for some people who might be able to help us out?

Do you fit the bill for any of the following:

You met and had a relationship with someone on SL and are now in a relationship in RL?

Do you have a dream life that you live out in SL? maybe you have always drempt of being a pop star, or having a dream job, which you dont have in RL but do in SL?

Has you SL boyfriend proposed to you?

If you have any interesting stories and are willing to be named and photographed for the magazine then please get in touch.

only people aged between 20-33 please x

Dang... 34 in 2 weeks time, I guess I'm too old, although my partner was with me before Second Life we did originally meet online.

Contact details might have been useful... and I assume you ran this past Linden Lab first?

Lots of spelling mistakes for a journalist and a hotmail address. I would be wary...

Don't get worried about hotmail address - i am a freelance journalist and this is the email i work from. There is nothing dodgy about this - we simply want to promote second life in the magazine

I was going to say exactly the same thing but I wanted to wait until someone else did so I didn't seem like a bitch. :P

Your age bracket does exclude a major crossection of SL -- you are aware of that aren't you?

And for 'dodgyness' - every RL Media company I've ever worked for - be it freelance, fulltime, Broadcast News, or Production House has ALWAYS had a non-anonymous email address..

Having MyKewlBiz@yahoo.com doesn't go a long way to help present someone as a professional.

Was avoiding my question of which magazine merely an oversight? Obviously I'm sure that you quite understand my reluctance to give out lots of personal details to what is, to me, an 'unknown quantity'.

However, thanks to Google, I have found the magazine and a mobile contact number for you, from an enquiry last month on another forum about gun crime. I'll speak to my partner about it and give you a call if she's interested.

Having done a little research, I'm afraid that the magazine you work for is not one that I would wish my story to be featured in. Celebrity gossip is really not my style.

Sorry.

Does appearing on Philip Linden's bog count as being a SLebrity?

Yes I do, a friend of mine works as one in fact, but it naturally follows that as several of your articles have been for "New Woman", that this one on a similar theme quite likely does, and as you have repeatedly failed to disclose which magazine that this article is for, then that doesn't help your case either.

Neither, I must add, does showing an attitude and yelling at those who you were trying to get to help you.

lewis...i think we might have got off o the wrong foot. Its just i have had nothing but a negative response from you...which is fair enough. If you dont want to do the article then i am certainly not forcing you.

I just dont understand all the negative responses...as far as i am aware, all i am trying to do is promote this website, maybe convince a few more people to join, and generally write a positive feature.

please feel free to contemplate which magazine this is for...however that will only be disclosed when i have had some positive response from people who would actually like to featured.

I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing to know which magazine it is before any further steps. If I had a choice of being interviewed for a newspaper, I'd be quite interested to know whether it was the Daily Mail or the Daily Sport, because of the different reputations - and target audiences. I certainly wouldn't want my picture in the Daily Sport promoting any subject.

Now of course I'm not saying that you're working for the Daily Sport... but you can understand where I'm coming from, surely?

I posted that warning in another thread but it looks like New Woman related journalists are invading the forum. :) Kitty Colville asked the same question here:

"Taking SL to RL" thread

I took the discussion with her offline, gave her details, sent her pics, chatted on the phone. And just before doing the interview itself, she sent this:

From: someone
However, not so good news - I've just been told we're having to lose a number of editorial pages from the magazine to hand over to advertising and therefore this feature looks like it will have to be dropped from the issue. This is so annoying since we really wanted to run with this and I'm really sorry if it seems we've wasted your time. If there's any chance it will be resurrected I'll be in touch since if we can find the space we would still like to run it.

And now another freelance journalist who might or might not be writing for the same mag asks the same thing.

The moral of the story for me is that it certainly can be fun to get involved with this but be aware that you are giving away personal info that might or might not get used due to the need for advertising space. *shrugs* So just don't expect too much.

And if the story doesn't get run, remember to ask the journalist to delete all your personal info (address, pics, ...) from her files.
