I miss not having feedback in the classified forum. It is important to know what your potential customers think about your items and designs. |

I think the biggest concern was that the lesser known were being bumped off the front page so quickly their ads hardly ever got seen since many people don't read past the first page of ads. Oh, that's understandable, then. Honestly I don't care either, I'd just like the ability to reply in the post rather than have to start a thread elsewhere that may or may not be seen, or have to go in world and send an IM they may not get because they are already capped to get a question answered. Yes, this is why I would rather just have it back to the way it was if reply, no-bump is not doable. And I would rather not send people IMs, just because I never IM anyone, even friends. I always feel like I'm bothering people. I dunno. _____________________

The way I see it is: So what? :\ Popular designers are generally popular because they're good. They deserve anything they get as a reward for that. I'm technically still a new designer, and I couldn't care less. So I don't get as many replies as, say, Torrid or Neph. So? They're better than me. Not all new designers have that attitude, though. Before the forum postings were changed, I posted something in the "New Products" section, only to have it lost after people got their friends to reply to their posting. Yes, people actually ask everyone on their friends list to post on the forums, regardless of whether or not they bought the outfit. I know this because I used to receive such requests. I didn't make a single sale of that product that week, and I wasn't going to bother using the forums again until it became actually useful to me to do so. After the forums became no-reply, I've posted and ACTUALLY GOT SALES AS A RESULT. YAY! If the classified forums could become no-bump, I guess that's fine. It doesn't change the problem of established designers getting their "yes-men" to reply, though. I find that rather distasteful. _____________________

And I find it rather distasteful that you throw everyone in the same bag. When I posted the 1st time about opening a new 100% hand-dawn shop, I sent all my closests friends the URL to my thread. *I did not ask them to post!!* I was just soooo happy and excited I wanted to let my people know. Yes, they alll replied one by one, and it bumped the rest of course. Was it on purpose? No. Was it fun? Yes! They replied *just because they felt like it* and I was really honored. You call them "yes-mens"? Mmh... Now, am I happy it went no reply anyways? Honestly, I am. No more drama. Find out all what's new in a few minutes. But is it boring? Yes. I am splitted. Just my 5 cents. _____________________

You call them "yes-mens"? Mmh.... The people I am talking about do such things on purpose, asking people specifically to reply. Not the same thing you're describing. I suppose making the classifieds no-bump would allow people like your friends to still post if they want, and solve the problem of people's cronies posting just to bump the thread as a favour to the designer. Maybe there would be more honesty in the replies if they aren't made to simply boost the thread. So my problem would be solved anyway, so I guess I'm in favour of the suggestion... assuming it's technically possible. I don't want to see the reply ability come back without no-bump, though. Congrats on opening up a hand-drawn store. It takes so long to make anything that way, doesn't it? I end up spending a week on everything I make. ![]() _____________________

Create a group for the discussion of your products, with at least 20 members.
Contact groups@secondlife.com and ask to have a forum created. Once the group forum is created, create a thread for each item you wish to discuss. In each ad in the classifieds, include a link to the discussion thread for that item. When creating a group forum, two user avatars need to be designated as moderators for the forum. Any twenty people can form a group for the discussion of products from multiple seller's. The forum wouldn't need to to be limited to one seller. Group forums are open to all; customers and potential customers don't need to join the group in order to post there. _____________________

Forums are a great way of getting feedback on a product, or answering frequent questions. It's silly to have replies turned off. Even if people are bumping threads, there's no point throwing the baby out with the bathwater. _____________________

Too many times, the kitchen is thrown out with the dirty dishrag and that's a crying shame! _____________________

I'm a new designer and wish I had some feedback other than 3 votes with little star things. Feedback whether positive or even negative might help me out. Wish they did have reply and no bump.
