Over the PREVIOUS (lmfao) weeks there has been a series of events happening. One of thoose events is a hazzard for all scripters and developers. Jamie Bergman has been selling other people's work and freebies. She has tried hard to scam us but she has failed, many people have stepped up.

Really do approve of this. Never really looked @ freeb selling with the "door to door" technique, but people starting a store with it and asking rediculous prizes clearly opened my eyes that there's something just wrong for this to happen. with the system in which the freebies are distributed aswell as some people's minds scamming other fellow residents for really insane ammounts.
as for bergmans store.. this just set a big example of how things can go from bad to worse. for proof check sle for the bergmans freeb box that Entrophy Creations put together. All freebies that show up in her store just like that or with scripts out of other freebies/leaked items. Kind regards, Kyran Nyak Scripter, builder and shared CEO of Spacemonkeys |

Also, she spread rumorus about my company on her blog saying I tried to destory her buisness when I was telling the public about her freebie selling. Have a look on sleconomy.blogspot.com (its her blog) and check the virtua tech bit. Yeah, i saw the blog from the other post. I was considering staying out of this issue, until I read Jamie calling freebie makers "communists". As a person actively supporting my freebie vending kits, I say not only have I lost respect for Jamie, but also that Jamie is wrong - - I'm not communist. I sneak ads into the freebie kits, thereby promoting my non-free items that I sell. ![]() EDIT: I also saw these ASIAN HOTTIES in Jamie's blog. I'm hoping that there are no hard feelings between these ASIAN HOTTIES and myself, and that I can provide my contact info via private message. (okay, so I'm kidding ... okay, half kidding... okay, I'm not kidding... nono, I'm kidding. Gah, they are hotties, aren't they?) ![]() _____________________

I went there once a couple weeks ago, looked at things, thought "wow, this all looks very familiar" and walked away, since I had, *gasp* been looking for products containing inovation.
No wonder I didn't feel the innovative spirit coming from there ![]() That's it, I'm making a pair of signs, a bright green one "Impeach blue signs!" and a nice, pastel one "Will retexture freebies for money" Wait, nevermind, I'll just make the first, why should I waste my money on Jamie? signed |

This is a constant issue that's been brought up since the beginning of SL. People seem to like doing it, no matter how many people object, and has a very negative impact on content creator's freebie donations.
Many people end up tagging their freebies as no-transfer or no-copy, just because they can't stand the idea of someone else getting rich off their freebies. An 'always free' permission setting has been suggested in the past. While that wouldn't be a perfect solution, I think it might reduce the occurences of freebie reselling. _____________________

Echoing this previously suggested suggestion. But Francis is right to label it not perfect, since MOD means you can pretty much copy / exploit the item at reckless abandon. My only additional suggestion is to include a Copyright notecard in a freebie labeled "FREEBIE COPYRIGHT" or something of the sort. In the notecard clearly state that the product is not to be sold, and this notecard not to be removed or altered. At least then you have some meat for LL to bite into later on if it's a clear exploitation. _____________________

I had once flew over to Jamie's store and was rather disappointed someone was selling items for L$1000 that I could get for free. In fact, I had actually found out about her store from a newbie, and felt really sorry for that newb, because she pretty much got ripped off. Good work Simmy. |

These allegations are slanderous and untrue. This post is also a violation of the forum TOS. ![]() I'm suprised the thread is still open. This thread is clearly a violation of the TOS. If people are truly upset over this issue, a more productive way to help the newbies is to make avaliable those freebies all over SL. Buy little plots of land and set up freebie shops. Sell them for $L1 to cover the tier and purchase price of the land. It may not break even, but it's a way to protest in a positive way. Complaining on the forums won't inform many newbies. |

Sell them for $L1 to cover the tier and purchase price of the land. I more or less suggested that, except without the "store" or the "$L1" parts. ![]() Hmm. I wonder if you couldn't, instead of buying bunches of land, just release a bunch of drones programmed to wander around the grid, seeking out new bies and new civilizations, boldly informing them of the problem (wth specific examples of what is being sold), and offer to direct them to a location where they can get these items for free. Since such objects can wind up dying due to land permissions and such, have some method of replenishing the supply (either have the drones signal a central factory, or give the drones a specific time to live, and make them at a steady rate) Bonus points if you give them "anti-flocking behavior" where drones try to avoid being too close together (both for lag reasons, and for coverage). Is there some rule against that which hasn't occurred to me? (Aside from, obviously, "don't let them get out of hand and crash the grid".) _____________________
