What is your view on sex?

There is no poll for this as I think it is something everyone has a slightly different view of. Please post with your view on Sex, RL or SL, or both.

My view is a bit conservative/old fashioned. I'm all about the intimacy and romance. For one, I don't have sex, I make love. Making love is emotional as well as physical. Sex is just a gym.

On the point of making love being emotional, I do not roleplay or anything like that. So when I say I love my GF I mean it. I don't suddenly stop when I log out. This view of course can pose problems for some I would think. If you’re married in RL then is making love to someone in SL cheating? Guess it depends on whether you consider cheating only done physically.

On that note, I don't really go around cybering with anyone. If I make love to someone it is because I truly care for them and have those feelings, and I'm not talking lust.

All right there's my view now post yours. I'd love to here them, and remember, there is no right or wrong answer!

"wut, u cant get it in real life? lolol"

Sex in SL, or any online community, is not meant to replace sex or intimacy in real life. It is merely an other interest, another avenue, another medium. It is, by nature of the medium, less bandwidth available for intimacies and pleasure, but there is still some there. Things should be taken in their context.

Going along with that, if I were with someone in real life, I would have have an issue with my partner getting it on with someone in SL because it is an exchange of sexual affections.

I see it as a valid medium of showing affection and experiencing sexual pleasure (sexual pleasure is not just what's in the body, it's also what's in the mind) meant to augment, not replace, what happens in the real world.

You said it at the end of your post Lane, 'there is no right or wrong answer'. I wouldn't want to make value judgements on other people's sex life. I'm with Hank, live and let live.

Making love is wonderful. But so is a naked workout :)

To me, it depends more on whether your partner knows what you're doing or if you're deceiving them. I don't hide anything from my husband - he's free to sit next to me at any time I'm in SL, and I keep him up to date on what's going on. Without secrets, there is no cheating.

I'm going to be perfectly frank here and offer my own unscientific survey results. After a year in SL, I think I can safely say that about 80% of the residents of both genders have horrible command of the language, no imagination and are lousy cyber partners (Tip: If they can't type "you" instead of "u", run as fast as you can the other way). Another 15% are adequate, if you don't mind adequate. That means you have to go through a lot of frogs (or frogettes) to kiss that Prince in the last 5%.

u can't mean that :(

Actually Cindy just hit on a pet peave of mine, I can't stand netspeak abbreviation. IT IS YOU DAMMIT NOT U.

I can overlook this for the most part, but sometimes it just drives me insane. There are some common abreviations I can handle like thru for through. But nothing will drive me batshit loco faster than "How r u today?". Look obviously you type at 30+ words a minute, so why save the extra 1/10th of a second just to make your sentance look incomprehensible? The worst part is when I'm around someone that does it for too long I pick up the habit, then I break out into hives and fix it.

Sex in SL I cann't imagine.

I have been in SL for three months now. Obviously you cann't move through the world with out seeing sexual content all around you. Yes I'v gone out to clubs looking for it.But in three months I 'v only been asked twice by real jerks. So as I stand here"horny" I'm probably the only standing SL virgin. Any one know a shop with a good scripted vibrator.

Trust me...as Cindy pointed out...you will likely get better and more imaginative conversation from the scripted vibrator.

The funniest ones are when they type and type and type for 5 minutes, only to say "Hi!" :)

I'd rather have people do that than take too many shortcuts. "N E 1" is much harder to read than "anyone". "4ever" does NOT make more sense than "forever". Please.

I agree but I think it goes beyond just sex. I have found with many people there is hardly any separation between RL and SL. Deciding to have SL sex can be akin to agreeing to have someone you never met from across the country come knocking on your door someday.

Recently a friend and I formed a group called F.R.I.E.N.D.S which stands for Females Reaching Innerpeace, Eluding Nightly Drama, Singlely. (Open Enrolement).

Now to those who have actually found your RL romance in SL, fine. But SL is not RL and some of us would like to keep it that way.
