In another thread (about being a female IRl playing a male av) the thread got away from the main topic and ended up in what men want in clothes.

I'd like to see more peoples' opinion on what Sl lacks in men clothes and what you would really like to see up for sale. Be a specific as possible. Colours, patterens, even a link to some photos would be good.

The more we know that better chance you have of getting it.

Can I suggest not highjacking the thread to advertise shops and to keep it to what people are looking for and NOT finding please.

Thank you so very much.

This thread could prove very useful to many folks if we can keep it on topic.

If I want to wear jeans and a tee shirt I am well covered in SL. Other than that, there are a couple of good designers that have a nice selection of mens clothing but most talented designers ignore mens clothing except for the token 2-3 tee shirts and jeans as I mentioned before.

I would like some nice, sexy, classy casual wear. Shoes is another lacking area. I went with Tya to a shoe store last night and it was pathetic. Hundreds of womens shoes and two, count em, one, two, shoes in the entire store for men.

Sexy boxers is another suggestion... or something sexy for private moments would be nice.

We pretty much need it all... lol... there are sooooooo many great choices for women but pretty much shit for us guys. I can't figure that out either, us men have to wear clothes too... lol. I shop too and it would be awesome if some of SL's vast talent would make mens clothing a priority for a while and design some cool stuff.

There was a thread for that not too long ago but I forget the name. Would be a good thing to start one though.

I would have to agree with this,it seems like the only choice you have now is some leather strap and buckle deal or a banana hammock, some nice sexy lounging wear would be great.

What I want is for some nice female to take me shopping! :D

I mean I would pay and everything, but left to my own devices I wear kahki pants and tshirts. I need someone to tell me what looks cool.

Anyone wanting to dress me up like a Ken doll can IM me in world. ;)

PS - This is not a request for domination or anything, I just seriously can't shop worth a damn.

I'm not a guy in sl or rl but the one thing i hear complaints about over and over again is that there arent any fae clothes for men. Most of them endup dressing elven and throwing on a pair of wings. If you end up creating a fae line for men IM me in world and I'll add your shop to the faery resource folder we give out. Thankies!

How about some not-so-sexy casual clothes? Not everybody is trying to be Mr. Pin-up over here. Personally, I go for intricate patterns, like unique pinstripes or good paisley on an untucked button-up or golf shirt. Psychedelic/surreal is what I go for iRL, and that's what I'd like to find in SL, but so far I've had to make do with my own feeble attempts. If anyone makes untucked button-ups with rolled sleeves, I'd love to put some textures together for you --just drop me a line in-world.

Men's clothes are MIA
08-16-2006 12:26
As can be seen, guys get nothing as far as clothes. Shoes are a joke. And the few shoes you do find are either ugly or ugly and huge, look like clown shoes without any mods offered to size them right.

You usually find the same clothes in all men shops. I think most shop owners believe all men want and wear are t-shirts. You usually find big selections of these with dumb things written on them.

Men have to shop four and five times and more as much as women and we still have a hard time getting clothes. Also very rarely will you be able to buy two or three nice different items in one shop.

Any shop owner who was to put a large selection of nice men's clothes for sale would make a killing in sl. And I don't mean the same selection in 10 different colors either.

It's tough finding nice men's clothing. I frequently go shopping for my sweetie and have a tough time trying to find clothes...hair...shoes...you name it. I've pretty much given up on trying to find stuff so I'm now experimenting on creating above said items.

Me thinks this is going to take awhile to get it right.

I've been toying with diving into this area because I've been frustrated with the selection in SL too.

Among my personal prefs include both formal (plaid) and casual (Utili- or Ameri-kilts) probably flexiprimmed. I have a sizeable texture collection for the formal plaids and the casual is easy.

A nice open shirt/tee combo would be nice.

Bath wraps

a variety of COOL hats like berets, driving caps, baseball caps

nice casual suit jackets ( these with discrete primming would be awesome)

nice open collar (prim?) semi-dress shirts

and some seriously historical outfits would be fun too!

Those look ok. I believe they're pajamas of some sort.

matching cloths are often difficult to find. Ya find a decent shirt, but no pants to match and no mod shirts are garbage, most will show a belly line or extend into your croch area.

shirts often have no neck and just blend into your flesh or no sleeve lines especially t-shirts. i try not to buy/wear t-shirts.

Why is it mens pants are usually so baggy or create a butt that looks over sized? The majority of mens pants have thier fly open or arnt really clean looking but solid color with no texture. very few high definition pants out there or pants that show a nice firm butt.

designer socks or something to cover your feet to give the apparence of nice feet when your barefoot or without shoes. socks that replace your exsiting feet would be very nice.

shoes are extreamly limited and often gaudy or way over sized with no mod rights.

- Gawdy golf clothes.
- Bowling shirts and shoes.
- Sport jackets and pastels like Sonny Crocket.
- Dress shirts w/out tie (wear my own flexi tie).
- Open dress vest for the tired corporate. A loose tie would go well with this.
- Bow ties and string ties.

I got more, but they escape me right now.
