Going into this weekend, I really didn't know what to expect.

I am left with such a great feeling about the future of Second Life and the culture/community that will help continue to make it the best online world. Everyone there was a pleasure to meet and I was amazed at how such a diverse group of people all got together with this common bond and really made it a weekend I will never forget.

I know a lot of you took pictures, please post some up.

So as not to interfere with the Official Pictures, I will wait to post all of my really really good shots. I do have some up at my place in Guam 71, 190 and will be putting more up through out the day.

Beau, I love your hair.

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?

I thought at least by now there would be a huge collection of pics from the convention! Yes, whoever took pictures, please post them. The only pic I was able to find so far from the con was one of Prokofy Neva.

I think Flip is gonna work his tech mojo and post information on the SLCC website about where all the photographs will be posted. Can't wait to hop in world and see your pics. :D

April is there "official pictures"? I know Hiro put a thread up in the gallery section for pictures to be posted.

Hello all :D Crow and I got home very late last night and I am completely exhausted from a marathon of fun conversation, seeing old friends, meeting new ones, and some pretty deep conversation about Second Life. I felt I needed double the time and some more Starbucks and THEN maybe I could keep up with it all. I didn't make my way to meet as many people as I had intended, because I kept standing off having these interesting talks with people I'd never met before and the next thing I knew, the break was over.
In that way it was like SL at its best and most creative. I had some amazing conversations and some just plain funny times. I'm not surprised to see that more people haven't posted, they should all be asleep if they can be.

A couple of random comments and more later: Maggie, thank you for braving that crowd and bringing me a martini. And also for sitting on the pool table with me being goofy. You are a real joy and I had never talked to you once in world - how neat . It was also wonderful to walk into the bar and get to hug Flip and Jen for the first time. Flip introduced me to Crow and he and Jen have felt like family to me for the longest time. Soooo....in that sense it was like a family reunion, except in my RL family nobody wears vinyl and the people/laptops/alcohol ratio is far lower. More on the convention later. I hope somebody got more pictures than I did! One of the more bizarre moments for me was being in the lobby on a computer for a few minutes demonstrating Second Life, while I was being videotaped for a potential documentary and Prok was to my right talking to Philip Linden about three feet away. There were many moments like that, of feeling like so much was in motion at once that it was impossible to keep up with it all. As I looked around me most of the time something interesting or funny was going on.

I miss you guys already and we are already planning our follow up road trips. Somebody please post pictures. Unless I was drunk. In which case, name me somebody else ok?

Excellent time while in NYC!
10-10-2005 12:01
Wanted to let you know it was great fun meeting all who attended the SLCC in NYC. Alexandra and I had a wonderful time and the conference was very interesting. Some great ideas and a lot of learning came from the trip!

We had a chance to visit the spot where the towers once stood (Ground Zero) which brought tears to both of us (which was within walking distance from the conference!).

We drove back to Ohio right after the conference which allowed us to arrive home by 3:00am this Monday morning.

Thank you very much for all those who put a "great" time together and for the lindens who made us feel like family.

Cheers from Anita Langdon and Alexandra Kavanagh ;)

I'm more excited about Second Life than I've been in a while. Everyone I met there was so cool, but unfortunately I didn't get to meet everyone I wanted to.

I really got to see how passionate the Lindens are about their job, and how they do this because they love it. There was no mumbling about "compelling real-time virtual solutions." It was Philip telling stories of how their customized SL for a tech museum made the museum staff resort to giving time limits to kids because it was so popular.

New York and the SLCC was a blast. Thanks to all the organizers, it was such a great job. As flawless and devoid of irritation as an SL inworld gathering - and we all know how hard RL is compared to our pixel world.

I'm flying home to Paris tonight, after a very inspiring 3 days, 2 spent at State of Play, and one at the SLCC.

And Racer, we have to play that next chess game !

It was really great to meet everyone! Thanks go out to the tireless organizers who did a fantastic job. I have a few shoddy camera phone photos I'll pop up to my web site in the next day or so.

Cheers!

What an awesome time!

If anyone would like, feel free to send me your best photos at FlipperPA at@at gmail .dot. com - I'll work on getting them up on the SLCC web site with Lora within a day or two. It was so good to meet and re-meet everyone - I haven't had a weekend filled with so much laughter and fun in a damn long time.

From Philip's kareoke 'Jeremy' on Friday, to Anshe and Prokofy dancing and laughing Saturday, to the goodbye wave to the cameras by most of the attendees on Sunday, it was an absolutely awesome time. I can't thank everyone involved enough: Lindens, sponsors, organizers, press, and most importantly, attendees.

There were a lot of big smiles on the ride back to Philadelphia last night.

Regards,

-Flip

flip, you and ALL the organizers (hiro said there were another 2 dozen that were behind the scenes as crucual helpers) did a great job. It was a fun, interesting day and a pleasure putting some faces to the avatar.

Well I have about 200 pics to sort through and edit. The lighting at the New York Law School was horrid so it was a crap shoot between being slightly too dim for no flash or having the flash grey everything out.

In any case, here is a pic of Philip and myself :D

great pics!
10-10-2005 17:43
i'll get mine transferred from cam to comp sometime tonight, although i've got nothing amazing to show.. just some crowd shots from the party on saturday.

unfortunately, my battery died before i even arrived (very late) for the convention on sunday..

and i have to agree.. since this weekend, i've been completely re-invigorated! my head's been a-buzz with all types of ideas and plans.. from actually getting around to making my build in Miramare to starting 2 different clothing lines to a renewed faith in the future of SL. such an amazing time!

also, it's true when people are saying it was like a family reunion.. most SLers i met greeted me with a hearty hug, or if not a hug, then a strong, warm handshake. you saw this happening left and right..

i have to say, the organizers really pulled this together so well in such a short time! THANK YOU SLCC ORGANIZERS!!! i can't wait for next year! (i hope i get to work on the name tags again, as well.. it was nuts, but i loved doing it!)

and thanks to EVERYONE! it wouldn't have meant much if nobody had showed up.. and the in-world SLCC builds/events/etc. were just as impressive! awesome amounts of involvement from everbody.

and Philip.. wow.. great outfit!!

(oh yeah.. and Torley.. those watermelon rockets were a riot! the entire room was leaning forward, recognizing what was going on and laughing our collective butts off!)

It was a really great experience to constantly be surrounded by people who share your passion. As impressive as the feats accomplished in SL may be, everyone was even more impressive in person.

It's taking me just another full day to recover from the events and DJing for the SLCC. Not only should we thank the sponsors for the event for happing in real life, I have to thank those whom made the opportunity happen in game, Spellbound and Naydee for doing great shows. Meeting you gys in the Real made the Metaverse a bit different of a space formyself, and having talked to Phillip and hearing his real personal take about SL makes me want to push this evenlope a wee bit further and see what happens :D

I had fun, I hope everyone else did, and I have tons of emails and ingame contacts to make... wow!

Thanx for sharing this. I wish I could have seen a better window into the offline world @ the SLCC! :)

Yes... it is so inspiring.
