…yes, and fuck you right back!

Not sure how long it will stay on the blog but know it will be archived here safe and sound. ;)

I wonder if they'll delete some threads when they archive.

At this point Nimrod I would not be surprised.

Censorship does not seem to be a taboo 'round here.

Is the future of the internet based on the American model of 'liberty and justice for all' and 'freedom of speech' - or, as it seems more likely, communist China?

Not sure on that bro. One thing I do see is the future internet with a resident question pop up blocker in place.

Thank GOD the Lindens will be able to control what topics we talk about on their blogs. This whole freedom thing on the forums just insn't compatible with wartime life in the USA these days. I mean, if you speak your mind you are just sinking ships. Come on people! :p

there is so much i want to say about this, yet.. i'm just as equally speechless.

my comment over at Torley's blog about this was a fairly decenty summary, but i suspect i will have no choice but to start a new thread here that better details (read: more essay-ish) my feelings on all of this and my involvement over the past 2 1/2 years or so.

just know this.. i will miss what we have had here. i'm well aware that many of us will feel what we think is absurd emotions over a simple forums closing a small portion of it's inclusive forums, but here me when i say.. it is NOT absurd.

we have created a community within the forums that are being culled in The Closure that would be hard to rival.. in-world or elsewhere on any other forums or in any other MMO.

some people are glad to see these forums go due to the vitriol exhibited at times and i will not say they are wrong for feeling that.. these forums are among the harshest i've seen at times (well, SC is easily gaining that title, lol) and they have a valid point in such a referrance; however, there are just as many shining examples in this forum as venomous ones.

k.. i'm done for now..

*BIG HUGS* to all.. even the ones who think i hate them. (which i don't hate anyone actually.. :))

After all, if we didn't care about SL, we wouldn't be playing it. Same with the forums, if we didn't understand their value, we wouldn't be upset about their demise.

It's just a pity that Linden Lab do not understand the value of the forums.

Ciao forums:

We meet ‘neath the sounding rafters
And the walls around are bare
the halls echo peels of laughter
T’would seem that the dead were there.

So stand to your glasses steady
‘Tis all we have left to prize
Quaff a cup to the dead already
And one to the next man who dies.

Time was when we frowned on others
We thought we were wiser then
But now let us all be brothers
For we never may meet again

Cut off from the land that bore us.
Betrayed by the land we find
The good men have gone before us
And only the dull left behind.

So stand to your glasses steady
This world is a web of lies
Then here’s to the dead already
And hurrah for the next man who dies.

Here’s an end to this mournful story
For death is a distant friend
So here’s to a life of glory
And a laurel to crown each end

I got a lot out of the General forum as a newbie...and even as an older "resident". I learned TONS. Pity they don't see it as being worthwhile to moderate.

whatever.

I'm a subscriber to an online service. I keep having to remind myself.

Maybe it's time residents organised meetings in world to discuss important topics. OK cool! I'll arrange it... now, how do I get the word out... My Blog? Not enough readers yet... Private Forum? Same... Oh, the In-Game Events List... er... right, and HOW exactly is anyone ever going to find it?
