I'm trying to determine what an acceptable prim ratio would be for a prefab home.
Here's what I'm trying to determine: Let's say you have 4096m2 of land, which would give you about 933 prims. How many would be acceptable for a build? 200? 100?
I know not everyone has 4096 lying around, so post your info here. List your plot size, how many prims it allows, and what you'd *ideally* like to have left over after plopping down a prefab home.

I'd be interested in this too. *eyes his competition* *burns his building supplies with a seburo flamethrower* *whistles innocently*

1536 with 351 prim allowed
would love to have a home 40 prim or less but as long as there are at least 300 prim left over....a 50 prim house is perfectly acceptable

I forget the prim counts of your current prefabs but know that they were relatively prim-light and provided much space elegantly. I never found your prim counts to be even noticable on 4096m - even with pretty heavy furnishing. I've since left the cradle and built not starting from your prefab, but pose no danger of competitions to Juro, LF, or anyone. I ain't even saying where my first "from scratch" build is

It seems like, for smaller plots anyway, a 15% prim allotment for the home. That would give some prims figures like: Prim usage table Would it make sense to adjust the 15% upward on larger plots? 20 or 25% on plots larger than 2048 would still give 300 or more prims to play with. Thoughts?

18 prims for a house on a 512? Seems kinda skimpy, dunno for sure
I could see 50 prims for a house on a 512. If one was careful about the furniture they bought, you could easily have a slick house that's furnished.
Fact of the matter, I think 40% of land prim allotment is still well within the boundaries of leavign prims for furniture, etc. And when you hit upwards of 300 prims, the houses just dont get much bigger or they become dreadful wastes of space.
But that's just me, I'm a prim hog lol

Good points , Synergy. Maybe the ratio would need to be adjusted for smaller plots? i.e.: 40% for plots under 1024 and then 20% for plots between 1024 and 4096? Oh, and I think most of my custom homes fall into the 'dreadful waste' category.

From: Juro Kothari Oh, and I think most of my custom homes fall into the 'dreadful waste' category. Let's compare... the homes I'm building for sale for prefabs are falling between 100-150 prims, and they're... ehhh, maybe 400 square meters footspace LF

i use max 100 prims on a prefab.. you could compensate the rest with good textures.. making nice textures is the key to low-prim houses wanna se my latest? 32 prims

100 is probably a good number, but I wonder if there's also a market for 150+ prim prefabs.
I've been working on some upcoming models that are over 200 prims. Definately *not* for someone on a tight prim-budget, but I think there's a definate void in that space.

somebody else who is very good at building..VERY good.. is going to do that soon... and i'm not talking about myself....
i'd rather wait for his/her selling figures...

I'll let you know how the sales go once I get them out the door. I have just finished the first and it should be on sale in about one week. The next 200+ prim model will follow shortly after.
I do think there's a market for it. There is probably a larger market for homes under 100 prims, but I think the 200-300 prim prefab market is largely untouched.

Sophos, If someone is a better builder than Juro, I would sure like to know who they are.
I can't say what the market is, but speaking for myself, big and high prim is fine. I will most likely buy several of Juro's new larger prefabs.

Thanks Kim! The new house is slightly different than my other prefabs in that it has several optional features. The 270-ish prim count is with all of the options loaded. Keep it simple, and the prim count drops down to around 170. It will be an interesting experiment.. I'll keep you all informed.
