Hiyas all,
For a while, I've been doing some textures for clothing and I think I've got the hang of it now... so.. I want to start making some more outfits and clothing bits for public sale (always good to have more choices easily available). The question is, what to make? It's not that I don't have any ideas, but that I keep coming up with new ones... so to get some focus, I'd like to see what people want. Of course, I'm still available to do comissions but I'm talking about stuff to put in the store...

- Fantasy costumes
Suits of armor, elaborate dresses, maybe some weaponry... I say fantasy because they wouldn't really be looking to be realistic, just cool.

- Sci-fi costumes
Powered armor, this time, space suits, etc...

- Anime-inspired costumes
Schoolgirl outfits spring to mind, as well as a few other things.

- Casual female clothes, think stuff you might see in Delia's or something, young, cute, hip, that sort of thing.

- Wild female clothes, leather, lace, metal, nothing too revealing, but things that show off a more wild side...

- Formalwear for men and women... just what it sounds like, clothes for an evening out.

- Anything else you think might be interesting and people might want. One thing I would like to know is if you would prefer individual articles of clothing or entire outfits to fit a mood.

Anyway, hopefully this will help me get started on my next project. :)

Datura, you should make a store, leave some ads around, and put a voting station there as well.

I myself am in the market for some better tattoos... we've done a few but I think they are very cool and we need more.

Jewelry would be another nice trick... as an additional bodypaint layer perhaps.. so you could take on/off.

Philip,
Only problem with making a store is then having to pay to maintain it. Which is fine if my stuff sells... but we'll see. I would like to have a fashion show eventually. ;) Tattoos sound like a good idea, and jewelry too.
That's one thing I'd really be interested in knowing... do people want lots of little things to mix and match? Or elaborate costumes?

Specific suggestions are fine, but if you want a specific outfit, it's probably best to ask me to do it custom, I'd be happy to.

Datura,
Some robs and hooded/non-hooded Cloaks sucha s worn by, munks or jedis whould be great. i am not sure if this is possible as at this point of SL's Development but I can see amny uses for article of clothing that hang to the feet.

Cool! I'm partial to complete outfits - I think I would be inclined to buy some once I get my funds sorted out. Some simple accesories available on their own would be nice too.

ideas:
egyptian princess costume
geisha robes
raver clothing (could fall under yer wild category)
space suit
uhm - thats all i can think of now

Fun ideas.

I'm still waiting for someone to build me a "Hulk-like" costume - ya know, ripped clothes, muscular body distorition, green skin. So then when someone bothers me I could drag that outfit on.

I'm also partial to the full body costumes because it's just neat to know someone is inside. Flyk had some which were totally cute.

Other costumes I think would be fun:
- Girl Scouts (because how else could we sell cookies?)

- mythical beasts like a minotaur! Guess i'm just bull-headed

- fancy magician outfits - turbans, colorful robes. FYI - for those who like magic, historical fiction, and light mystery, I'm reading Carter Beats the Devil (by Glen David Gold) and so far it's quite entertaining.

I've had your hulk costume for a while Hunter, I made one not long after the gift exchange, but your never in-world, so I havn't been able to get it to you.

Ben Linden has a copy of it as well.

Flowing robes would be really cool, as well as maybe a kind of jacket that acts more like a jacket, separate from the shirt. Right now the closest I've got to the magician look is the Rather Nifty Tuxedo. All I need is a rabbit for the tophat...

Mundane outfits
01-07-2003 02:21
I would pay $ for a few simple mundane outfits like:

(1) dark grey business suit, white collar shirt, and textured red tie

(2) new indigo blue jeans and dark green long-sleeved T-shirt with slight texture.

(3) olive-drab jump-suit

Basically dark solids with simple cloth textures, enough detail to help define the 3D shape.

I've been running around in my black jeans for more than a month, and although I've traded the red shirt for a black tight jacket, it is getting a little old.

I think my next full outfit will be along the 'mythical creatures' line... specifically geared for the females... but men should be able to use some (most, really) of the pieces. In the meantime, I'll keep turning out the little accessories and things.
It does seem like people are looking for more normal clothes too, so I'll try and make a few of those.

Hey Andrew, do you know if the meshes are the same for male and female? I have the flattened texture of the mesh, but don't know if it's male or female only, got a male one, if not?

I'd give a business suite a try :o)

how about the look from 'The Matrix'? Sunglasses, suits, gloves.

I'd pay for some permanent/Linden additions to the avatar store along those lines... let me know if interested...

Meshes and outfits
01-09-2003 12:56
The meshes are the same for males and females they just deform differntly, ^_^() but from the work I've done thus far female texturing is simpler and doesn't take as much fine tuning but thats just me. Hmm some matrix-like outfits would be a good addition, I'll have to give that a shot some time.
