Ha! Well put Talarus. And there ARE ways to make money off of games of skill too. It just involves pitting contestants against each other and not taking sides (e.g. a flat fee for playing a game). But that doesn't have that horrible psychological effect of looking like easy ("FREE!!!"
money. Gambling tends to flash that green light for people for some reason, even when their rational mind might be able to come up with a realistic perspective...if they WANT realism, that is. |

I have nothing against Gambling, and as a swede i found the law about gambling in "the land of the free" kinda funny
![]() But what's funny with Zyngo is that the discussion about Zyngo in so many ways shows how bad things become when Linden tries to decide something. Some games had to go, other could stay. No really explanation why and when you ask them, you don't get an answer. Everyone here and inside SL seem to be agreed on that Zyngo isn't a skill game, but they still allow it. Other games that also had some "skill parts" in it had to go. Why is that? I don't care if gambling comes back, and I think it will some day. Even the American politicians will one day understand that they will never win that war. But until then, if Linden now is afraid and tries to remove those things that might be problem for them, they should do it with everything. Many people lost money when the non gambling rule popped up. Why should then some still be able to earn money on gambling, when gambling isn't allowed? |

More likely they have based their decisions on what is deemed to be gambling according to how they or their lawyers interpret US law. For better or for worse, whether we agree with it or not, LL being a US based company has to comply with US law to stay in business. |

America stopped being "the land of the free" sometime after Andrew Jackson was President or thereabouts. Nowadays, we're turning into a serious nanny state, the President is spying on us illegally and getting away with it, we (American Citizens) can be detained without charge indefinitely, and our property seized and never returned without ever being charged with a crime. It's a mess, and our Founding Fathers are spinning in their graves so fast, we could use them to power New York for a century. |

Out of curiousity, has anyone tried to Abuse Report a Zyngo game, under the belief that it is illegal gambling? If you truly believe it violates the TOS, then you do nothing wrong in reporting it.

Zyngo Abuse Report
01-14-2009 22:07
I filed an abuse report on Zyngo a while back and got no response. If you read the Lindens gambling policy, there is little question Zyngo is in violation, although they choose to ignore it.

I also send in a abuse and the result was the same. So i send a ticket instead and since one week back it has been standing as "work in progress" |

2 hours after my last post i got this in my mail...
Hi there, Your report has been received and will be investigated by Linden Lab; if the reported incident violates Second Life's Community Standards or Terms of Service we will take appropriate action. If you continue to experience problems with a resident, please do file a new inworld abuse report for each new incident, and the Governance Team will endeavour to investigate the report(s). Best regards, Linden Lab and the Second Life Community team So i guess that some gambling in SL is ok then, becouse i have a feeling nothing will happen |

Now i got this answer...
Hi there, Unfortunately we can't comment if a game or object is acceptable or not. We would advise you to review both blog posts regarding the wagering policy and see if your objects comply. The policy posts can be found at the following addresses: http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/08/09/anti-gambling-policy-update-faq/ http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/07/25/wagering-in-second-life-new-policy/ Best regards, Linden Lab and the Second Life Community Team ---- And now i am getting tired of the bullshit Linden spreads around. I will go on with this. FBI here I come |
