You're already using a computer. That can handle RPC just fine. Just need the programming. Considering I'm typically using enough bandwidth on my machine to make webpages load slowly? No, I can't use my machine. On top of that, compilers are another problem, as is the programming language. Last time I programmed was in Java, and I never did get the hang of that (evil, slow language that it was), and before that was C++. Long before broadband connections, so I'm pretty sure that RPC calls weren't even invented yet. I'm so glad you have the skills, computer, and time to waste building an RPC system that is independant of LL, but I prefer to have my code independant from anything that could have power failures or code problems while SL is still up and running.

From: someone Originally posted by Moleculor Satyr The day they quota my scripts is the day I leave SL, because no quota could be fair. For the most part, Moleculor, I'm in agreement. There is, however, one method I can think of that might be fair, but it's very old-school, and I don't imagine it'd be easy to code: CPU cycle metering. Or, possibly, per-function metering of only certain LL functions. Or a combination of both. It's the accounting part that's difficult to make "fair."

@Moleculor Satyr Maybe not the solution you really need, but regarding price here is an example what you can get today on the net.
Linux server 250 MB Disk Space - 1 GB Monthly Data Transfer - 1 Catch-All E-Mail Account - 1 Mailing List - 1 Subdomain - 1 mySQL Database - PHP4, Perl Supported - Frontpage 2002 Extensions
Domains are around $18 a year.. Shared Web hosting Cost: $22.36 inc VAT/Year
I am sure you could find someone out there, to help you knock up something for the a site, so you wouldn’t have donate all of your time to do it your self.
At least it would enable you to get round some limitations in the mean time.
Regards, Mike

I'm not paying more money to slightly improve my SL experience. My money going to SL should be enough.
Ulrika, head to Seacliff, and check out the freakish looking tower there. There's a rather sweet looking topographical map inside.

Not yet time to lose hope in Feature Suggestions.

From: someone Originally posted by Moleculor Satyr Nothing else in the past year and a half has worked. They'll listen eventually. They'll listen or else some other venture that listens will take their place. That's just the way it works. The fact that Feature Suggestions exists does at least show that, at the time that it was set up, someone accepted the notion that listening to customers was a good idea. If only there was a little more Linden presence on that forum, or even an official reviewer to keep tabs on it and point particular LL personnel at particular suggestions and bug reports. It would make a lot of people feel much happier about the future, and about the time that they are investing here.

LL's making a llCreateNotecard function as we speak.
