My (source code) patch is available. It is attached to http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8759 I hope someone ("someone" especially being the LL development team, but third-party viewers might start the ball rolling) can enjoy and make use of it.

Does your patch have a prefilled value string?

The thing about textbox that bothers me, is that I don't just want to collect freeform input from the user, I may also want to suggest a value, or provide them with the current value.

What colour would you like? [<1.00, 1.00, 0.00>]

this sort of question and response seems intuitive to a programmer, but it's garbage to a normal user.. when presented with the question "what colour would you like?" most would respond "red". So we have to spend copious amounts of time, scripting to handle any of several types of responses.

The colour question is a good example of why we need this sort of thing, but how about a URL..

Please enter the URL of the video: [http:// ]

Here we can suggest to the user that their answer should begin with http://

More discussion on this request, can be found on the jira.
