We've already established why Local Lighting can suck, namely how slow it makes SL when you turn it on! But if you can, and never have, activate it from your GRAPHICS PREFERENCES and then restart Second Life... and bask in the glow! Especially in the nighttime.

This is a thread for you to share your fave images taken with Local Lighting ON, so bring it ON! Cheerio! :D

Example pic:

Or compare LOCAL LIGHTING OFF and LOCAL LIGHTING ON (not taken from the same angle but of the same object, it's a ruff idea).

Yeah local lighting is awsome but unfortunately it cuts my framerate in half wich isn't good since I don't have a top of the line system.

Work in progress, I hope to eventually replace most of the local lighting with more detailed texturing...

If you haven't been to the coal mines, they are something to see.

I tried to use for local lighting for dramatic effect in my latest build. I'd light more lamps but I don't want to irradiate my neighbors :)

Example of how local lighting can really make shading lovely in the right setting. This is during a photo shoot for new ads and the lighting was great. The photo is untouched by the way!

I'm hoping with 1.7's new full bright feature that lights a prim but doesnt emit light, alot of things that emit light in sl now and lags us all like vendors and alike can use this setting so that, real lighting effects can make full use of a proper lighting effect

Cadroe, on the side of your property near West Trade Imports at least, I would presume some more lighting wouldn't do any harm.

Garnet Psaltery is the final word (it's her land) but I could not imagine her being annoyed with anything you do, as you are clearly quite accomplished.

I am merely a guest there myself, eternally in her debt insofar as that patch of land enabled me to launch a successful business.

Quite the contrary, let me know if anything I do next door is an annoyance for *you*.

I've snuck into your map room when nobody was looking; it is quite impressive. And made off with some of your building tools as well... :)

Here's one of a old custom home I did, not quite that artistic, but still a cool effect none the less.

I've been turning on all the video options I can and really like how local lighting makes the Avatar faces glow. Skins, textures, sparkly bits like jewelry, etc.

One thing I had to turn back off, though, was shadows...
ID: 204
Summary: Shadows enabled is crashing client.
Priority: P2
Status: Closed

Description: Having shadows enabled sometimes causes the client to crash.
Workaround: Turn off shadows.

p.s. still working on screenshot skills... perhaps later ok?

Thank you, Roseann!

Desmond - Thanks for the kind words. I did light the lamps along the road. Also I asked the Lindens to remove those gigantic lights behind us (on Linden land) and they did. No more purple snow!

Sam - Very nice detail.
