Cool stuff, you guys! And wow, Satu's object is uber-cute. :D

I actually though thats how you did it, hehe.
I can see where the levels are, but I doubt most people can.
Manual is good enough, only issue is its alot more manual work.
I dono if photoshop CS(1) or less has the lens filter...

Btw, nice HDRI/overbright effect!
helps as much as DOF I think.
Thanks! I used the depth image for the overbright effect as well, in case you were wondering.

Yeah, I can see the levels, too... slightly annoying. More intermediate levels between the "no blur" and "some blur" level would have helped, but I was too lazy. :p

I tried another one with a different pic of Nakama. Used more levels of blur to increase the effect.

I made a comparison of capturing colours, depth, and object silhouettes in my apartment. Note that the balls around me in the silhouette are my personal lighting system. n.n;;

^_^ Intent, I'm flattered you used my statue for that experiment. Hee, I love those things. Hope you don't mind I saved it to my hard drive to look at when I like.

too bad we can't tune the range, it makes small objects (I think smaller than a small house perhaps) look flat :/

After some filter and enhance tweaks... I came out with this, looks like it came straight from 16bit theater!
