You're certainly welcome!
You do great work!
I plan on buying a large parcel of land to build a nice little town from around the late 50's. I want to include a small car dealership, to display and sell my Primouth automobiles, a five and dime store, a Rexall style drug store with soda fountain, etc.. Big project so we'll see what happens......

I certainly will let you know, Ingrid.
I have much work to do on this. I have many cars to build, textures to find and make, planning layout, etc..
This will be a labor of love though. Wouldn't it be a hoot to have the music from Leave it to beaver streaming in the parcel? LOL

What a fantastic bit of whimsy! <3 I know that if I was driving in SL and suddenly saw a gas station, I would have a veritable giggle fit. :D
The town is looking awesome, too! Keep up the good work!

From: ahkenatan Grommet "Experts" think he was but are not 100% sure. I like him because he was the "heretic" pharaoh. Kind of set Egypt on it's ear at the time. was he the monotheistic sun god lover? great work ahkenatan!

OMG a Rexall Drugs!

The Rexall Drugs comment brings back memories, sitting at the counter drinking a milkshake made with real ice cream, mixed with a silver metal milkshake stirring machine, reading a comic book.

Wow, Suez, about what time period was this? It sounds nostalgic like Back to the Future or Grease but I have never been to or heard of a Rexall Drugs previously. And speaking of BotF, I like how ahkenatan is working on a kickass Delorean!

Ahkenatan's stuff rocks! I have only seen a few bits of it while he was working on it in morris. He's good enough you know's it's all good just from a small sample.
The time would have been 1959 and later, I suppose. When I was a kid it was ok for kids to go out and walk as far as they could. The main drugstore with the soda fountain i went to was an independent one maybe a quarter mile from my maternal grandmother's. I would walk down there when Ii was just five or six and buy comics books. I don't recall reading any marvel comics at first, I was a DC comics reader then. I loved Batman and Superman and Supergirl and the Justice League of America and Green Lantern and Flash. I would read the Hawkman and Green Arrow but they weren't as delightful. If there weren't any good ones like that left I would get some oddball ones, i remember one called Strange Sports. It would have things like baseball games between humans and martians. The next tier was the Archie. Jughead, Betty and Veronica line . Then came Casper and Ritchie Rich.
The primary Rexall was near my paternal grand-dad's. It was too far to walk to, so I didn't get to go there as much. Passing the Rexall wiith it's distinct logo was a sign of progress towards "Pappaw's" house.
The car dealership ahkenatan made that was in morris had a bunch of incandescent lights hanging from wires. There was a time when that was quite an attention getter, just having a bunch of lights. If businesses wanted to draw a crowd they would put out a spotlight, which back then would be a giant affair with a carbon arc lamp and a big motorized system to rotate the thing. When we kids would see a spotlight it was a big deal, we'd make my dad load up my brothers and sisters and take us to see the spotlight. there would always be a crowd who had come not to shop but just to see the spotlight. Car dealers did the spotlight thing a bunch. They still do, but the streamlined devices they use now don't draw anyone away from their dvd players and streaming videos or even their 3D virtual environments unless they want to shop for cars.
We didn't have much to do back then.

Thanks for the kind words guys!
I was born in 1969 so this period was before me. However, when I was a teenager, there were still hints of that time period around. Being from New England things don't change too much. My grandparents had their house since the '30's and up into the '80s it was still furnished, decorated and looked like it was right out of the 1940's. When I was kid I had a ball just exploring that victorian house, finding a chest of my dads toys when he was a kid in the fifties, etc.. For my family time had stopped for a brief period and there were times I could almost hear Eisenhower on the radio or Elvis singing his next "evil" hit. lol Hard to explain but I hope I made my point.
I love the cars from that era, I call them rolling works of art. Never again will we see auto styles so distinct that you could tell a Buick from a Pontiac from a block away. Hell, I can't even tell a Caddy from a Nissan anymore! Sad.
Simpler times. I just want to bring a sense of them back. I hope everyone will enjoy it as much as I did making all this stuff.
By the way go to find places, look up "the good old days". That's where I am now. Come on in and visit for a spell! Free coffee at the 5&10!
