I hope people will share pics of any Star Trek builds they have. Not only would I like to see them, but I'm headed to a sci-fi/Trek convention soon and I'm going to try to spread the word about Second Life. Basically I'm planning on printing some brochures to give out with info on SL and images of Trek builds (and maybe other genres). I won't use a pic of anyone's work without contacting them personally and getting permission, so feel free to post pics here even if you don't want them in the brochure.

The picture on the left is the massive Klingon ship by Chosen Few currently hovering over the sci-fi museum in Indigo. Of course I'll be mentioning this excellent museum to people at the convention! On the right is an Enterpise B bridge I built a while ago (no longer there).

There's also a Sci-fi museum (search under places) where you can get som StarTrek clothing and I think borg avis, too. Maybe worth a look.
Edit: Oh lol, i can't read ![]() ![]() |

Xonax - Thanks for the heads up - I need to contact Chosen Few about showing off his ship, so I'll ask about the uniforms too

[trekkie]The NCC-1701A wasn't introduced until Star Trek IV. The Enterprise in I and II was the 1701 with Constitution-class refits.

Antagonistic Protagonist, more warmly known as Taggy, has a ship of her own which is inspired by Enterprise but which is actually of Zetan origin and disguised as a vessel of Earth origins.
![]() You can find it far above the buildings in the Gibson sim... keep flying up and keep your eyes peeled for the distinctive shape. I will say again how much I appreciate Chosen + allies's work with the Sci-Fi Museum. Cadroe, I'm gonna be checking out your build soon. May you live long and prosper. ![]() _____________________

Hehe, thanks for pointing that out, Hobonicus. I know what I did; worked on the Ent B and then jumped backwards without paying attention. Now that I think about it, I guess A was the big reveal at the end of ST IV. As you can see, I'm not really a trekkie (although I do appear briefly in the background of "Trekkies 2"
![]() Torley - I'll look for Antago's ship, thanks. I traded cards with someone working on a huge Federation starship in Cordova... who knows what's out there. The thing is, Trek fans are perfect for SL. They build bridges and make uniforms and more in RL. Imagine what they can do here. It would be awesome if some organized people bought a sim to do Trek stuff. Chosen and friends do indeed rock the kasbar. _____________________

Personally. I want a life-replica of DS-9. I'd happily buy space on the promenade to sell my upcoming multi-prim unisex Bajoran-style earrings.

Burke, that's what Byron Mchenry was saying yesterday when I took some pics of his DS9 ops center build. I can't remember how many sims he said it would take! Maybe you could sell him some earrings

Thanks for all the compliments, guys. I'll attach some pics for you guys shortly, and feel free to snap your own. I've got avs for Seven of Nine, Worf, Picard, Data, a Brog Drone, a Klingon Warrior. I've got a full size Klingon Bird of Prey, a 3/4 scale Defiant (not currently on display, but I can put it back temporarily if anyone wants to see it), a Voyager style transporter, two different giant Borg Cube vehicles that each seat 7 people in Borg alcoves (TNG style and First Contact style), a fully functional holodeck, and lots more in the works. Feel free to use any or all of it to promote SL.
Incidentally, to answer the DS9 size question, the station is 1600 meters across so to build it to scale you'd need 49 sims (7x7). I've wanted to do a full size one for quite a while now if you can't tell. While we're on the subject, I've also always wanted to do a full size Borg cube (requires 144 sims), and a full size Enterprise-D, which (requires 9 sims). The day I'm independantly wealthy so I can afford all those sims and have the time to build everything is the day we get our SL Trek theme park. Until then, I'll have to be content withmy little museum. (Just ignore the fact that the Borg cube is impossible since we can only build up to 700 meters or so in height, while the cube is 3,000 meters tall, since it will never happen anyway.) Anyway, I'll whip up a bunch of pics in a size the forum can handle and post them as soon as I can. _____________________

Awesome, and thanks, Chosen. Do you happen to have a picture of all your Trek AV's together? That could make a really nice cover shot. If you want to try to do something like that, let me know and I'll lend myself as a model
![]() BTW, my approach to building a large ship in SL would be the same as the one I'm using with my current Enterprise build. It's constructed like a movie set, rather than a model, with only the portions the audience is meant to see. You beam aboard from the ground to the transporter room, walk down a hallway to the turbolift and take that to the bridge. If you zoom out you can see it's just a bunch of pieces stacked over each other. With a few compromises and some sneakiness, you could fit a lot of an Enterprise into one sim that way. I think we could do a lot in SL adapting tricks from film FX. The challenges are similar. _____________________

Trek Pics Online
02-03-2005 15:56
Hey Cadroe, just wanted to let you know I uploaded a bunch of pics to the Sci Fi Geeks website (it was quicker than doing it here). There are many Trek pics and some others as well. Feel free to download whatever you want to use. Let me know if you need anything else. I also sent a Sci Fi Geeks group invite your way. If anyone else wants to join, let me know.
http://www.scifigeeks.net/secondlife_images.htm BTW, I think everyone will get a kick out of the Seven of Nine/Deanna Troi pic. You know you've thought about it! ![]() P.S. Ignore the rest of the site. I'm way, way, way behind schedule on it. The only page that works is the SL images page. _____________________

Awesome, Chosen! Do you mind if I include the URL of that web page? It's basically what I hoped to accomplish with my little brochure, only with loads of cool content already collected in one place. Thanks a lot for doing it. BTW, do you sell clothes and any of these other items at the sci-fi museum? I'm going to be offering people my Entrerprise stuff as sort of a starter kit, but it'd be cool if I could point them to another resource. Besides, the Klingons will just tell me my build has no honor.
I'm more of a Hoshi/Dax type myself ![]() _____________________

Feel free to list the URL, sure. Maybe that will light a fire under my ass to finally get the site up to speed. If you look at the index page, you'll get an idea of what the site is supposed to be for. In addition to SL stuff, I wanted to create a place online that sci fi fans could get movie and show reviews written by people who actually understand and appreciate sci fi instead of just from sources like TV Guide and newspapers, which tend to miss the boat a lot of times, and also a place where creative people could post their fanart, fan films, and original stuff. Sooner or later I'll get it all put together, but it needs a lot of work still.
To answer your question, yes, I do sell much of the stuff in the pictures. Most of the clothing and avatars shown are for sale at all Sci Fi Supplies locations (main location next to the Sci Fi Museum in Indigo). We're planning a grand re-opening event to be anounced soon, at which time we'll be launching a bunch of new products, so stay tuned. I won't say much beyond that since this is not the shopping forum and I don't want this thread to end up kicked over there. As for those pesky Klingons, just send them my way. The bird of prey is 100% to scale, which means it's cramped, dark, uncomfortable. There are very few chairs, the beds are made of metal. They'll feel right at home. _____________________

Hi there, I am new to SL (one week), but dont hold that against me! I am really glad to have found you guys as I want to build a DS9 promenade, but have no idea where to begin. It sounds like you are already onto similar ideas. Just wanted to let you know that I will be in to help as much as I can. Is there a trekkie group? I have also found some other people who would love to help.
Awesome pics by the way. How do you become a Star Trek avatar? |

Zina - I IM'd you, but in case you check here, I recommended looking up the RPG group Starfleet Command and Byron McHenry.
Hobonicus and other Trekianados: Do you remember in what film the officer's lounge just aft of the bridge actually appeared? It must have been one of the movies between IV and Generations. I've decided to remove the transporter room and (working) turbolifts and use the prims on the officer's lounge, but I need to get the right movie for reference. Thanks for any help. _____________________

Cad,
I'm not sure which movie actually showed it first, but there are some good shots of it in Undiscovered Country. There were three scenes I think: dinner with the klingons near the beginning, about 3/4 through the movie they show some guys setting the table while a shipwide anouncement is made for a court reporter to come to sickbay, and finally the room takes a torpedo hit during the battle sequence near then end of the film and gets demolished. _____________________

Chosen,
Especially since IM to e-mail is messed up, I sent you an IM with my e-mail address. If you don't get that (for obvious reasons) and you do happen to read this, my public e-mail is goreldin@yahoo.com. If you don't mind exchanging e-mails, could you contact me? No big whoop, just some things I could ask you if it's convenient. _____________________

I hate to say i no longer have this build, but being a fan of the TOS, I had to try and build this. Have to say I really liked how it turned out. I would gladly try to build it again, but I don't know many people that interested in TOS to be worth doing it - sry, can't say I like any of the other series - though Cadroe, you got some great looking builds there!
