But... there's several looks I switch around (hope this isn't overkill)

I took my first babysteps inworld some time in November (signed up on a computer that couldn't handle it). Left OI looking like in the first pic. Oh and my body was way to scrawny back then.. I was a twig! Then I became better friends with sliders, bought $L and got me some hair and skin. Now I change skin, hair and style quite a bit, but my shape remains the same.



Hoping the pic will work, since the forum codes are apparantly borked?

I still switch between the blue horse and the current human av. Mostly human though, these days.

The first pic is how I was after a few days, still with the newbie skin and hair. The second, is me today. Admittedly I do change hair and clothes a lot, but this is what's in my default folder. I'm not entirely unsurprised that the basic look isn't really that different. Jeans, white shirt, black vest, sneakers. Red hair, grey-green eyes. Yup that's me, alright.

I like you much better as human, and the change of skin made a BIG difference.

I never realized how much I basically look the same as I used too when I first started playing SL in Feb. 2008 (under another avi). This shows how much premium shape, skin and hair will improve your look!

I roleplay a lot as a Cybernetic, which explains the bright eyes from the second picture, but when I'm home with friends I have some gorgeous green/amber eyes that look so real, it's disturbing.

Avatars sure have improved a lot in three years.

I landed as a Ruth Human, since we had no furry choice for starting out, back then. Made the hair long and brown, and the eyes green, but didn't bother with much else, as I knew I would ditch that form ASAP.

As soon as I hit the main grid, I went to a furry sim called The Forest, got a free fox avatar and put it on, then went shopping for a better form. Found what I wanted in about 5 minutes, and bought a wad of L$ so I could get it.

The first pic shows the results of that purchase, still within an hour of landing in SL. I bought what was then a top-of-the-line Furry avatar from Jakkal's Werehouse. In this pic, I'd already added some non-prim hair and had custom made my green eyes. I upgraded the hair and clothes pretty quick after that, but this avatar, now upgraded by the maker to version 3 and adapted by me so the jaw moves when I talk, is still probably my #2 most common form, behind the Aventity vixen shown in the new pics.

On the right are the two forms I most commonly use - the Aventity vixen (also adapted so the mouth moves when I talk), and a realistic Human form with a skin and eyes from SS Labs. I have over 80 different avatar forms now, from tiny foxes to a huge red dragon, and use a good dozen of those on a regular basis.

I wasn't big into photography until a few years into my SL. I think I have a shot from 2003 somewhere (testament to naming your pictures with intuitive names) but here is one from 2004 and the bottom shot is one of my custom characters.

Our atmosphere with windlight surely makes our Second Life more beautiful when I look back at these older pictures and directly compare to the new.

Both of these pictures are raw with no Photoshop magic, save a crop.

Hey 2k, glad to see you finally found your way out of that grey wasteland!

As I started this thread but lost the original 'then and now' pic, I've done another one. I've been in SL over 2 years now. The first pic was taken on Help Island during my first day or two in SL. The second pic was taken at Bay City recently.

Don't know how many avatars start as a furry and become humanoid. I had to wear something better than the CSI default and I was led to Vienna Freebies where I found the blue nekkid fox. On the right you see my friend and I fishing at home. I configured a human av early on. I'm not always in uniform and have been known to dress eccentrically.



The fact is, this is my third or fourth life. I had been an established persona in 3D worlds since 2002, 2D since 1999. This is what I look like in VRML:

I watched this thread for almost a year now... And I think I finally have something I can call an "After".. (^_^)
