Ive been quite happy with Windloght so far. Some of my textures turned too dark, and shiny textures became brighter. The improvement on the rest of the land is amazing. Older trees look obvious--the linden trees look like paper.

They look really good if you use custom settings and raise the plant detail to high. I will post a pic when I get back in game.

I have all, (literally all) of my settings maxed. The closer trees look wonderful, but about 20-30m away they are paper again.. you got a way to solve this?

Same Photo........with and without Windlight.

Although I realise that it is in Beta...........somthing tells me my next computer will need to be built by Nasa, to utilise all these splendid features AND get a decent framerate.

With all possible Shinies on, I was down to 3 FPS. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek !!!!!

Looks magical, like lovely paintings.

Though the darkness on the shore in some of the snaps is one of the problems - standing there trying to see yourself

Some of my pics. The second one had the levels adjusted. My laptop has a brighter screen than my regular puter and I didn't realize how dark the pictures were until I went to clean out the bad pictures.

There's a few more of them here: http://picasaweb.google.com/abbathiebaud/WindlightSnapshots and I'll be adding to them as I have more to add, but I'm not a picture taker generally.

All of those pictures have the Hoof It Centaur and were taken in the Growl 1 sim, a fabulous build I'd encourage everyone to visit. You TP into the mall, but just go out the door and you'll find the areas in the above pictures.

I like the first one better in this case actually... It gives more of a 'I'm under the cover of trees, but there is a clearing ahead" look, and it's beautiful.. in shadows but can see beyond them and stuff.. anyways coolies!

Well maybe they'll EVENTUALLY get around to fixing that, but there has been a LOT to fix as the years tick by...and the whole thing has to be kept up to date... they really do have a lot on thier plate if they wanna make SL the way they envision it, looks-wise.

LL would like to be able to reactivate the visual rain, dynamic flora & fauna, etc that's still there in the code but they had to "block it off" for performance sake. Unlike World Of Warcraft...they don't make everything, so there's always a lot of new bugs and challenges to deal with...

Good resident builders scripters and devs are always pushing the limits which is good...but we can only expect so much within certain timeframes. Anyway...

Great pics! I sure as hell wish my machine could go at a decent speed with all the reflections and settings up, but the interactiveness and customization is enough to keep me entertained, besides I always go to Snapzilla & Flickr to get my real "Windlight Fix"

My skies!

Okies.. so, Ill be posting a thread somewhere (Not sure where it would go) with files for a bunch of my skies and waters, and felt like doing some more and taking a few snaps today.

All of these are taken at the Transgender Suicide and Hate Crime memorial in the Elysium Gardens sim.

All skies and waters in my snaps are done by me.

Hope they look good!

NOTE:: All are resized to 512 pixels wide for easy forum viewing. If you want a bigger version of any, just send me a PM or IM! And yes, I know there are little numbers.. thats the 'show color under cursor' thing that I always forget shows in snaps.

estate textures

hiya,

didn't see any posts on this yet so here it is.
First of all, I love the Windlight progress but there are some weird things going on.
1. In Windlight my estate textures seem to be different from the non Windlight viewer.
I made a mixture of rock and grass in the non Windlight viewer. In the Windlight viewer all is grass. It looks like the hightmaps are not the same.

2. The landscaping I did looks also differend. Where I made sharp edges for rocks and cliffs the edges are now way to smooth. It looks like a Teletubby landscape

Anyone else want to share some experience?

I'm still building on my Asian sim Hosoi Ichiba and don't know what I should do. Build for Windlight or build for non Windlight.
