I couldn't see one so I thought that I'd start a new thread. The new first look viewer is out and, with it, the new windlight stuff.
Post your pics!
I think I went over the top with the glow settings ;]
The first picture has two street lamps. The one in front is using the windlight glow whilst the one behind it is using an alpha mapped prim.
Edit: I've been told that the glow effect has been in the normal viewer for a while, I must have missed it!

Took these on Isle of Tao and especially had fun playing with the new reflective water.

I may as well ask in this thread.
Does anyone know how to control the glow effect via LSL?

Windlight is beautiful. Sadly, it doesn't run efficiently (at all) on my system. I'm a strange one though...I will still set the majority of graphical tweaks on high...regardless the frame-rate bestowed on me. I don't mind moving around the world slowly, as long as everything looks great.
However, when I'm building...I set all my settings (except model detail and anastropic filtering) on low, for speedy building.
Man oh man...I need a new computer. I wonder how cheap I can get a system if I pay monthlies on it...Heck...I don't know what to do. I need another big project to come along, so I can lay down a huge portion right away. Errrrr....more cowbell!

Here's a few of mine from yesterday. Windlight makes the scene!

The problem with that gorgeous water and sky is that they make the terrain and the build textures look unrealistic by comparison...like they were pasted into the scene by a bad Photoshop artist.
LL...better start rolling out some newer, better terrain textures right away!
Texture artists...get busy, we have to re-do, well, EVERYTHING. (How many workers does it take to wallpaper the world? I don't know, but I think we're about to find out!)

Texture artists...get busy, we have to re-do, well, EVERYTHING. (How many workers does it take to wallpaper the world? I don't know, but I think we're about to find out!) As long as you had quality (realistic) texturing to begin with, you're OK. Some of us wouldn't be caught dead pasting an amateur texture onto an object we created. I custom make the majority of my textures, and when I do, I go for realism, not ACME. If you are using textures that are photographs, you are at the right starting point. From there you can add baked shadows, or texture, or custom light--all of which increase the realism of a texture in relation to its environment. But as long as you are using a photograph...how much more real can you get? A photo-realistic brick texture is even more realistic than anything Windlight can produce...the only thing lacking is a true bump-map. I've noticed the majority of the textures on my objects look fine. There are a few places where the sun will 'over expose' the texture...which will have to be tweaked...but overall, most everything looks good.

I know normally cats hate water, but it's a good thing this is SL, because I cannot stay out of the water now! Anyone have a blowdryer? XD Now I have to go work overt-time to pay off my windlight picture addiction! Cheers everyone!

Okay, so after looking through all these pics and being totally amazed by them, I had to download the Windlight Viewer.. And well needless to say, my water, clouds, etc.. are not turning out like that... My sister (in game, hehe) also downloaded the Viewer and isn't seeing the water as realistic as the beutiful pics posted here... Any idea why its not showing up for us? Also another question... I own 2 plots of land surrounded by water, I got to Edit Enviroment (or whatever its called) and it doesn't give me a option to edit the water or sky, the only thing I can change is like the sky setting (the lil slider), so can anyone help me out there? Thank You very much in advance and the pictures you all have posted are just absolutely amazing

http://www.flickr.com/photos/17046579@N08/Ive been quite happy with Windloght so far. Some of my textures turned too dark, and shiny textures became brighter. The improvement on the rest of the land is amazing. Older trees look obvious--the linden trees look like paper.

Another shot. I'm finding Windlight to be really good for this kind of "cozy setting" photo.

Here's a shot I took of one of my friends. I'm really enjoying how customizable the sky and water settings are in Windlight.
