From: Valerie Welesa Maxx: You can draw... you picture is very nice. I like it big time! Can i put it in my house?
Well, alright. Just don't tell anyone I did it. This was cool, Nylon/Toast - I reloaded my pad drivers just for this, and I haven't drawn/painted in like...well, a long time I forgot how much I liked it. More!!

Valerie, PLEASE put my artwork up on your walls. My goal is to uglify SL to the point of necessitating changes in the TOS. And here's more!

yay! ingrid posted finally excellent work all. neph... that pencil looking sketch? was that digital or good ole fashion pencil? If that was on a tablet, all I can say is wow... I appear to have lost all my hand-eye coordination in the ongoing, attempted move to tablet... someone please tell me it gets better and my brain will figure it out... my brain is screaming for pen and paper but i figure if i stick with this digital thing, i gotta get it eventually...

Here comes some comments and critiques from me! Feel free to join in if you have anything to say as well.
Barnes: Nice design! I like the way its really simple but you still have the elements of the original picture in it to make it recognizable. For the first one, the poloroid itself though looks a bit furry, if anything i'd just clean up the edged on that, it sorta takes away from the image inside. The second one i really like, it looks so peaceful and calming. I would suggest when shading skin to use contrasting lines for darker areas around the eye and nose.
Forseti: You clever thing you. Someone get that girl some toast STAT.
Maxx: This is awesome, it reminds me of some street grafitti you'd see up on a wall. My only critique is the outline around the drawing, im not sure if it really adds to it as it is. It'd be cool if it were thicker and all around, or thin and all around. Right now it kinda looks like a mistake that you forgot to finish.
Cletus: You took this, and make it your OWN. Both your images show a sense of death, loss, and childlike innocence. It would be nice if everything wasnt outlined in black. I think you need to work on cloud drawing, they look like melted marshmellows. Other then that, stunning, if i had a wall i would hang these up.
Valerie: That picture looks pretty tiny. What resolution are you using? Ttry starting at 250. The image itself is pretty neat, i like the way it came out! The background is really pretty, it reminds me of an old oil painting. The dress could use more detail, i dont really like the way you drew grey lines to seperate the folds, since looking at the rest of the picture i know you can shade. I love the moustash, nice touch.
Nephailaine: Cool composition on the first one, I like how the cat girl is in the back kinda just hangning out. The second one, i love what you did with the earhphones! I was totally waiting for someone to do something like that. Did you use pencil for this? I cant tell with the hair.
Goyan: Funky postcard. Cool.
Canimal: I like how you added the trees in the background, and the crown. Its like an ice princess thing, i would have never regonizied the picture if it werent for the flamingo in the back. I dont really like how dull the colors are, but i know thats the style you were proably going for.
Juliette: Awwwww! This is really cute and creative, i love how shes sitting on a poloroid of grass. The glowing effect is nice, it makes everything seem dreamy. I like how you shaded the girl, it almost looks real. Im kinda not a fan of the wings on the cat, i think everythign else is really well drawn out and detailed but the wings just look unfinsihed. Really nice job though.
Ingrid: If you got fired because of this, i think it would be worth it just to see a drawing done by you. Great shading on the legs and the back, you coould go a bit harsher with the lines though, around darker areas. It would really make the drawing pop.
Teneo: Creative spot tone. Nice!
Im excited that many people are participating and coming up with such great ideas. I hope we can top this next time!

Just keep in mind i am drawing with a mouse, I only have one arm -- which is really more of a flipper -- and I have been certified retarded by several prominent physicians around the world. And maybe those WERE melted marshmellows.

Haha ooh cool! I appreciate the critique! I so like to know what others think and view the piece from their perspective. I do agree about the wings. Was kind of a last min addition. You've got a good eye for art Nylon!

WHY DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO CRITIQUE US, YOU SELF CENTERED EGOTISTICAL CONTORLING BI--- oh yeah its your thread... Im not good at critique, or qualified... We all know Nylon has a fragile ego so I wont touch hers... it was an interesting attempt <----- Nylon Toast I really like the second one, unlike your first its more of an interpritation than a recreation of the set, which I like. Has a very nice flow to it. Mine are perfect. Forseti very nice, even if you did cheat. The background you did is still very nice. Maxx yours looks like lady barnes Cletus yours made me tinkle. val i love yours, if you amde it bigger and higher rez it would be clearer. Also save it with high rez. Neph yours is wonderful like everything you do. Julliette still really impressed by yours, mostly because you pretend to be useless Ingrid love your sketch, i can see you sitting in your cubical working hard on it with some nice financial reports or somethign stcking up around you. Get fired and come play SL.

From: Barnesworth Anubis Get fired and come play SL. I'm working on it. I think next time I'll use graph paper and a bic ball point pen. It's the office medium of choice. Forget charcoal and conté.

I'm not very good at critiques but I'll give it a shot. Barnes: In your first image I love how you did the Pinocchio effect and made the flamingo look like a real bird. I think my main critique (like nylon) would be the outline of the Polaroid. I like how the background in the Polaroid matches the rest of the background it makes it look like a magical magnifying glass. Like you can only see whats really there by looking through it. Your second one blew me away, Barnes. It's so playful, what a sweet, squishy, loyal octopus! I like the shading on the face, she doesn't look like a beauty queen, but she looks comfortable. I think I would also like to see some more contrast with the shading around the eyes. Excellent work. Forseti: You are too clever for me. I didn't even get the Barnes reference until you pointed it out. Maxxine: You have a strong image and I like the shading. I also like that white halo around the subject. BUT, I think the musical notes clash with the rest of the image they look too casual to me. Cletus: It's a harsh world out there. A world that dresses like a flower, eats your body and then pukes it back up right on your face. You cut right to the core of a bold subject and I applaud you, sir. Val: I love how the girl and the balloon are just hanging there while the octopus has a massive spaz attack. The image is so inviting and a little delicate. However, its pretty hard to see and I think the avatar could use a little more detail. Im really impressed with this drawing! Neph: I love the drama in the first image and how the cat in the back is just chillin' holding it's ice cream with confidence that nothing will knock it over. That second image you did is breathtaking! Did you do that one in rl? Those futuristic headphones are adorable! Goyan: It's funny because it's true! Canimal: I love the direction you took. I adore this little world that you created and like how you made the subject look like a porcelain doll. I don't like the black background around the Polaroid though (it's a little too distracting) and I think your work is strong enough to get the point across without the writing. This is fantastic! Julliette: This is so whimsical! I like the wings on the cat I think they make her look like a wish granting fairy godmothercat. I also like how you leave me wondering whats going to pop out of those other Polaroid once they develop. Ingrid: This is delicious. Teneo: I like how the flower is spitting out the same scene over and over, reminds me of a deviant copy machine.

thanks for asking, the second one was done with pencil. i've also nearly forsaken traditional media in favor of digital, so that piece was a bit like rediscovering an old friend. thank you so much for all the kind words, again everyone's pieces look great, hope there are more still to come!

Beautiful work, everyone! I dusted off my scanner to submit one. I started off just sketching in ink. Then when I scanned it, I cleaned it up a bit on adobe. I seriously need a multiple USB port. Was switching ports around for the scanner, then tablet, then modem ... This's a cool idea, guys. Love it!
