Poser-alike freeware?

Does anyone know about any freeware software projects that are like poser, or else that allow one to create bvh files that are compatible with SL?

For example, since Macromedia made the SWF file format open source there have been several freeware applications that let you create SWF Flash animations without dropping a few hundred dollars for the Big Daddy. ;) I'm interested in tinkering with character animation in SL but can't (currently) afford the $250 price tag of poser. I (and I'm sure many other people) would love to hear any ideas people have for us budget-conscious fledgling animators? :]

Thanks!

1. Blender
But this seems not to be easy as much as Poser. See this thread.

2. Someone has a project to make an animation software for SL.
But I'm not sure whether this project is going on. See this thread.

3. Some expert wrote a bvh information directly by a text editor. :D
Yeah, it is surely free, but not a Poser-alike. :( See this thread.

Consider this. BVH is originally a format to take the motion capture data into several 3D animation softwares, like 3dsmax, Maya, lightwave, lifeforms, motionbuilder and so on. So every software would support to inport it, but never need to export it. :(
