Ulrika,

Do I have to post to be part of the forum community?
If I just read this forum does that mean my participation or opinion does not count?
Where did I demand anything?
Where did I say I was against a compromise?
Where did I say I dont care how you feel?
Where did I label anyone as negative as you are doing?
Where did I attack anyone by name as you are doing here?

and it's She, not He.

Geeze Ulrika, chill.

She is eager for attention, she did the same to me. If you disagree with her , or do something she does not like, she will retaliate with false accusations and personal attacks.

Ulrika you try so hard to fit in and be "humorous" and actually all you are doing is gaining enemies... Stop trying to be "somebody" because you are only making yourself more of a "nobody"

Apparently by expressing the opinion that you don't think ads should be in a discussion forum, you are demanding that they stop immediately. Discussion and dissent are not allowed, you must agree with them. Oh wait, that is the textbook definition of totalitarian. Thanks for expressing your opinion Feniks, sorry you got slammed for it.

The rule is pretty simple.

Ads should go into the classified section. If it makes sense, at some point we can break the classifieds into categories to make it easier to find products that you're interested in. For now please use the subject line to identify your product and put your ads where they belong.

Well, I for one feel a bit humiliated at this point, for ever placing an "ad" here to begin with. So it was brought to my attention, fine. There is this whole flame war over this, then our ads get moved, my god. It's kind of like that cartoon where the lady is complaining and the sales guy says, "I'm sorry madam, how about we refund your money, close the store, and have the manager shot". I don't know I just feel like it turned out to be mroe than a slap on the wrist. I guess I'm just one to deal with things quietly.

Gwin it was not directed at anyone, just a comment about the purpose of the forum (and you have been cross posting in classifieds anyway). What was a discussion turned into a flame war once Ulrike interjected into it - before that it was fine. You were free to disagree and say why you disagreed. Ultrika came along and blew the thing out of the water, and now it led to a Linden being involved because of her personal attacks on people. I am sorry you felt your wrists slapped - that was not my intention at all, or anyone who felt that ads should not be in a discussion forum - we were just expressing our opinion, which is verboten apparently, even if it proved correct.

Mmm. Dance my puppets, dance! :)

Listen, you have to understand something about the "Ulrika experience." I exist to explore the extremes. I go all out for an animation contest. I work double time on a fictional election. I'm here to experience SL completely without limits both in world and in forum. I am both the philanthropist and the thief. Whether it's intense logic, reactionary hyperbole, or nonsensical blather, I'm a source of entertainment for myself and others, provided they get the joke.

Before you carry on with telling the world how upset you are about whatever it is you are upset about at the moment, remember this is not real life. This is a game. Ulrika Zugzwang does not actually exist and neither do your fictional characters.

Now save up your strength for the next time I post an infomercial to this forum, which I assure you will be sooner than later. The trick is to learn to enjoy the roller coaster, not rebel at each of its many hills.

~Ulrika~

(If you are getting it, this message should make you chuckle.)

I noticed some ads were moved, since this thread. But not all of them have been moved. Don't the Wanted: Animator threads count as a Classfied too? If we're going to nip it in the bud, then get them all out of here.

*Growl* I can't tell you how unhappy I am to see that my online catalog was removed from this forum. It was specifically put here so the other animators could see it. It belonged here along with all the other posts pointing people to my animation goodies on my website.

Thanks for popping in and having your way with our forum. Is there anything else I can do for you? Maybe move my house or put on some different clothes? *Growl*

Ah just kidding. I don't care. It was just an excuse to link to my catalog while feigning a deep emotional response. I was hoping someone would call me on it so I could do a dramatic reveal of my true emotions but the thread went belly up on me.

Anyways, what's sad is that there are still so many ads are left in the forum. Poor Gwinivere, the most talented of us all, had all hers removed. :(

That's hit-and-run justice for ya.

Feniks was just giving her thoughts on things and you start attacking on the fact that she doesnt post often? That is so unfair. That has NOTHING To do with the topic of this thred .

It's all in jest Taylor. The goal was to create an absurd hyperbole wrapped in traditional resistance-movement rhetoric. I don't actually think she's a totalitarian goose stepper for posting to this thread.

Read my "Mmm. Dance my puppets, dance!" post over and over until you understand. I'll wait.

So what did we ever decide? Are we seeking a middle ground with infomercials or there will be absolutely no discussion of our products at all in any way?

I ask as there are a lot of ads still left over in the forum and people seem slow to post follow ups to them despite new questions showing up in the threads. It would be a shame if they never answered for fear of getting in trouble. I don't want to see the conversations stifled.

Robin Linden replied on page 2. Pretty straight forward answer.

I agree. It was a straight forward answer but neither it nor your reply answer my question.

There are several ads in the forum right now, some of which are active, that have technical discussions going on in them. They were missed in the haphazard deletion process. I believe that there is an argument for keeping them as they contain technical discussions. If we do keep them, does this not validate the concept of an infomercial?

I'm seeking a logical discussion as opposed to inviting more appeal-to-authority arguments (logical fallacies). I understand that someone in authority took action. I would simply like to logically discuss the outcome and future ramifications of these outcomes, something we were unable to do in the emotionally charged discussion that makes up the first half of the thread. Naturally, any good discussion will not lead to straight forward answers. :)

I dont know the fate of the exisiting threads you speak of. Perhaps if they are still here, moderators share your opinion that there is good discussion about them.

The point is, you can discuss animations without talking about them being for sale. If you want to sell your animation, go to the classified section.

Excellent. It sounds, Loki, that you agree that ads exist but now contain a useful technical discussion, so have been spared. This is evidence that announcing new animations, scripts, and objects can be a catalyst for useful technical discussions.

I notice that Catherine has devilishly posted a single "Place your ads here" thread. That could also be an excellent compromise.

What are your thoughts?
