From: Drizzt Naumova ...as far as animations and stability goes.. poser 4 is your best bet... Really? I purchased 4 when it came out, and have only ever gotten it to run on that single machine. I have 7 computers in this house, and it will not run on any of them, and I no longer own the very old POS that it originally ran on. This has really made me swear off of spending any further money on Poser altogether, though I'd really love to see if 5 or 6 works for me. On the other hand, several Forums posts out there say that 5 and 6 are pretty crappy stability-wise too, so I'm not terribly optimistic.

Windows users may have to rename the Poser 5 files, also
09-12-2006 11:21
If you took advantage of the Contentparadise.com offer for Poser 5, you may need to rename the files either during or after the download process. Their download process may try to put some extension like ".htm" at the end of the download filename. The correct extension should be ".exe" and you should be able to double-click on the files and run them once you have them downloaded.

Mine worked both for Poser 5 and eFrontier. Did you make sure to keep character ambiguities like '2' and 'Z', '0' and 'O', etc., straight when you put it into the eFrontier registration box?

You are truly welcome, havelock..."Mac users united, will never be divided.." Plus, anybody starting out with poser should not fail to check the tutorial at http://www.ulrikasheim.org/animation/tutorial-basic.html for some key tips...primarily that you must use a Poser 2 figure for the ani to import. Also good stuff at http://secondlife.com/newsletter/2005_05_05_archive.php about the specifics of the SL import. Animated kisses, Jilly

I finally managed to download it today! If you "bought" the free copy of Poser and haven't succeeded in getting it yet, things seem to be much better on the Content Paradise site now.

Cant get the content file to work
09-15-2006 02:14
I bought the free copy of Poser5 during all the madness, and finally got the .exe file to download. (Had problems with an expander that I had downloaded.) Poser is now up and running fine, but I cannot get the content CD. It finished downloading and a message popped up saying that the file was corrupted or invalid.
On the bright side, I have had many fun-filled hours playing with my bright shiny new toy. Are we able to make facial expresions for sl in Poser?

Question: Since I have two machines I want to put Poser 5 on, I signed up for two licenses.. I've downloaded the setup.exe for the first license.. My question is this: do I have to d/l the second copy of setup.exe, or can I use the product key for the second copy with the original setup.exe??? Anybody know for sure?? Tas

Second license should be just fine!

As long as the product keys are actually different and valid, you will be OK.

Did you remember to rename it?

Did you make sure to rename the content CD's file extension? The Content Paradise download system messed up the file naming - at least when I downloaded mine. The file had an "htm" extension, if I remember correctly. If you're on Windows, it should have a ".zip" extension, and hence should be extractable with WinZip, or some such tool.

I think I will purchase this. Upgrading to Poser 6 is pretty cheap too, ("Upgrade to Poser 6 for only $129!" . I like the $10 coupon, too, at least if I can use it when upgrading to P6. That would be great!

I am downloading it now, using Opera's built-in download manager, and it is saved as a .htm file here as well. I will try renaming it to .zip when the download is finished, and it should work well. One get 3 downloads after the purchase, I see, and download speed is pretty high too, very nice. Er, I mean.. download speed WAS pretty high, around 400 KB/s. Then it came to a crawl at around 60 KB/s, but.. "I will survive" Thanks for pointing out the offer, which even after the free period is really good!

Not sure if this was mentioned earlier - After you install poser 5 - in pose go to help menu and go to downloads and that takes you to posers site - you will see a message saying - restricted - press on the download option on this page - it will ask you for your reg number - put it in - there is an update for this poser 5 - get it and poser will work great - You will be able to open all the lib up after updating and no CD needed.

I'd like to give them $20 for poser 5, but I do not get their registration email and they do not respond to questions. $20 may not seem worth the trouble of answering a question, but not doing so essentially locks me out of everything they sell.
