Deadline

When will we have an inkling if we were accepted? We've already planned most of our 'build' but are anxious to get started. Actually we're going to build it anyway and use it ourselves for something if we can't get into Burning Life.
And could you explain how the 'land rush' thing will work?
Thanks!

Land Rush
08-27-2008 06:41
Last year, they put indicator objects on all the parcels and just opened the place up to go in and grab one. Then at a certain point, any that had been claimed but not used went into a lottery. I got one that way, but did not get a lot of time to put the build out. A couple of friends also go theirs that way. Though the parcels were a ways out from the center of things, it was still a way to participate. I am wondering a bit about the process we used myself. It appears from Dusty's post on 8-25 that not very many people have submitted applications. However, I did not read when the cutoff is, only that "We have a small committee of veteran Burners and art types who will pick out the proposals." My experience of the last two years seems to show, that whenever the process becomes subjective, the same names seem to show up over and over. Oh well, it is their company. LOL Time will tell how it goes this time.... DRD

Last resort... sort of

Burning greetings! I'm sorry to say this, but I just could not - as much as I have tried - log my camp idea on Zoho. Did the registration thing and all. Kept getting... nothing. All week. PopUps are enabled too (using FF2). So, FWIW, here is my idea, in case someone who is able to log in and register care to take it ahead: -------- Come take part on making a giant avatar furball! Let's make a huge pile-up and see what it looks like. When a certain number of avatars join in (determined randomly every time), the furball will go up in flames and everyone will come tumbling down... Think NPVs and poseballs... You'll get the idea! -------- Yes, I know it's silly. Peace.

Let me try this again...
What is the estimated wait time before we hear back as to whether or not we were able to reserve a site?

Grace, the application window doesn't end until Sunday. Burning Man ends on Monday, so the members of the core group there should start returning home soon after.
Having said that, I am not a member of the core team, nor am I one of the people who will be approving theme camps. My /guess/ is that you should hear a yeah or nay by the 12th at the very latest, but don't hold me to it.

I also, could not submit my application after 3 tries. I hit submit and it asked me to sign in with my user name...What user name?? Do I have to be a member of Zoho before I can submit an application? How do I do that? And why wasn't that explained before I filled out the entire form? Three times? Can you tell I'm frustrated? Arrrggghhh

In my rush to get my application in on time I think I may have put in an incomplete email address. It's at yahoo.com.

When may we get updated info on our application status?
08-31-2008 22:54
Dusty, I realize you guys are probably bogged down in all the last minute entries, but I would appreciate it if you could post an update on who's application form went through or a rough time frame on when we may know. Thanks, Shadoe

Still Out of Town.

Dusty is probably still out at the Burning Man festival. I think today is the last day, so there will probably be news about camp applications later this week.

Dusty is letting those that applied and had correct email addresses that we will be reviewed over the next week... Seems there were double the amount of applications than there are 1st plots - however there are lots of other plots to be handed out later.

Weedy,
I def saw your proposal. So either you mistyped your email or it's in your trash folder? Subject line is: "Your Theme Camp proposal".
Everyone check your trash! If no love, shout out and I'll manually check the DB for you. Dusty

Nothing in "spam" or "trash" Not that it matters though, because you confirmed receipt of my application here. Thanks Dusty! BTW--- How was Burning Man?

Hey Dusty. Did my application make it through? Haven't heard nada. When does the land dash commence if we don't get a spot or our application went into a black hole?
OOPs. Major apologies. I looked in my trash. It was there. *sheepish grin*
Thanks. Ana

I have been away on holidays in Europe and only just got back -- I'm wondering if it's too late for me to put in a proposal at this stage ?
Last year I had put my proposal in but somehow it must have gotten lost, and I didn't have time to rewrite it .
If not I'm happy to pick up a parcel either in lottery or land grab, but I'm interested in when this will start happening as we are extra keen and last year we had one of the busiest camps of the festival. We do not just put our pieces up and disappear not to be seen again, so I think we are worthy of Burning Life !!!
Thanks Lindens.

Hello all! Well, the results are final, the votes are tallied and the notifications have gone out. Everyone who made a proposal for a registered, reserved camping spot on the Esplande should have received an email, a note card (or both!) telling them what their status is.
If you didn't get in this first selection, DO NOT DESPAIR! We only doled out 54 plots this way, and the bulk of the land is still waiting to go into the lottery and land rush. We hope to start that process this weekend, and we will publish a schedule of how many plots, for what time zone and where they are before we push the "go" button. Stay tuned. Dusty

Crash
09-10-2008 20:58
I don't know if was because of the new version being deployed, but Burning Life Network region crashed at 8:45pm LT. If it was the deployment, they started early.

Herm so I guess its way too late to get a parcel? (the first come ones) The hurricane kinda knocked us around a bit and we just got power back. I noticed I cant even get to the islands at all (access restricted etc)
Doh join group that helps - but back to the above parcels, too late completely?

From: Nectere Niven Doh join group that helps - but back to the above parcels, too late completely? Nectere, unless there is unclaimed or returned land you may be out of luck. I recommend trying to contact Dusty Linden or Talia Tokugawa about getting on the list of people interested. There was definitely extra land last year and there might be this year too. Sorry about your power outages, I hope everything works out okay.
