It crashed once on me this morning, I had premiere and WME rendering though so that might've been the cause. Other than that it seems relatively stable for me.

First look is the only software running. No other appication oother then the normal everyday thing for me. Not sure waht in the hell is going on with this first look . But its seems to be a total waste of a build. I don`t believe its your other appications causing you to crash love, i think the build is just bad.........Just my 1 yen worth of thought about this.

Have you tried the method I have posted over and over on the forums?... Uninstall all versions of SL's Client completely, run defrag (to tidy the HD, no sense in more defragmentation) and run a registry cleaner, then install a fresh downloaded version?

Why do you keep repeating the same simple quick fixes that only works when systems that are multi purpure and not pure gaming computers like this one.......I don`t add unneeded programs to this computer and i have not need to deinstall programs. As I said The in a few other threads. random crashing with in a period of time pin points a programing error and not a system error. I sent in countless Crash reporters. I just hope they get a first for the First Look Soon. If that is the case why does 1.17.3 and before runs much much better WITHOUT crashing?...........Only The Code Monkeys Knows.......... Usagi |

Usagi If you don't want input to help resolve issues, why do you keep posting new threads about the same things already posted? Use search. FYI I run a fully specified PC system, that I buit from scratch. I've been using computers for the past 20+ years, including networks, internet, web design, VR programme creations and Windows since it was a glint in Bill Gates eye. If you don't want to even try and sort out YOUR problems, take them some place else. _____________________

Dont think its individual pc's that are causing the crashing in Voice First Look. I've done all what has been said and still no good, it still crashes and freezes. But still prefer to talk than type. More fun.

Might wanna check to see if there are new vid card drivers for your pc also. I had the crashing the past couple days about once an hour. I went through my system and decided I would just check drivers. The vid card driver was the only one that had an available update. After the update, the client has not crashed once in about 10 hours of usage.
Also, in regards to the uninstall, defrag, reg clean...that is a good advice...Even if you do not add and delete programs, you realize the hard drive still frags on it's own moving things around during normal operation. This means defragging is a good idea regardless of the OP's thought that thier pc does not frag....(ALL programs cause frag!!!!) |

Out of interest how did you know if you needed updates on your drivers, do you have a programme to run a test?

No, I just went through 1 by 1 actually. I dont really trust those 3rd party progs to truly check for updates and direct me to the proper dl site. I just have the list of all my hardware and I goto each manufacturer's site to check against my list

The latest update is randomly crashing about 3 times per hour thus far. About 1/3 of these crashes are total system failuer and 2/3 generate a crash log. The previous release was more stable- crashing at most once per hour (not that this is anything to write home about but for SL was an improvement.)

The latest first look is really bad for me too. It went from crashing almost never with the previous update (I let it run for 8 hours straight and no crashes) to crashing every 15-20 minutes with this release.

I kept crashing while trying to anything with the streaming music playing. Changing chat tabs, moving my camera around, clicking to chat in main chat.

For the record, I found a repeatable crash bug with First Look 1.18.0 (125)...
Clicking the little profile button (a head) under the list of "Near Me" people makes me crash instantly. UPDATE: I guess I was wrong, it's like some have said above... random crashes on certain UI interactions.. I just crashed hitting ctrl-M after having opened and closed the map successfully a few times earler |

I've been crashing a ton since the new FLV update. It's poop, but I cope regardless.

Ok this first look latest release is a total piece of ...never mind. Its crashes repeatedly! The memory leak seems worse then before...........Anyone else have this problem? I'm having the exact same problem. Sometimes it doesn't even finish logging on before crashing, and sometimes it seems to lose the connection and I'm just frozen. ![]() Then, everytime I try to get back online it tells me the region is offline, and the second and subsequent times I try to get online it tells me my account will be unavailable for 5 mins. ![]() Can we have the old firstlook back? At least it worked ![]() -Rob (PS: I know FirstLook is for 'testing' and all, but doesn't anyone else find it strange that regardless of it's testing status it seems to still work about 10x better than the normal viewer? WTF LL?) |

After over 2 years of testing beta viewers
07-12-2007 17:27
Many of us that have been Beta testing the First Look client since its arrivel of a testing of the beta months agos ( 6 or so months ago). Have been through the good and the bad. But these past two release noticable common crash factor............... These days we have twice as many coders and specialist dealing with coding error fixing. But NOTHING looks any better then when the first look program started!....................The memory loads up and the after 30 or so mins the client crashes. As some have said "its a test viewer" yes that is correct. But what becomes nightmarish is the coders fixing other issues other then the ones that should be dealth with ASAP. Instead of "monkeying" around and doing smaller and less problem-sum fixes. Now, if they focus on crashing other then fixing the " pretty yet totally over done "commucation box" I say ok they are trying their best to deal with fixing problems. But I can`t, hence I can`t see no real reason to deal with on a even bother with beat testing this version , until the coders take the major bugs and stop redesigning the pretty and offen looked at ( commucation box ) as the main area of importance. Fix what is important and leave the pretty and secondary importance issues and problems. After the major bugs are FIXED!

07-14-2007 06:53
Ok Ok now explain this to me with the update Release Notes for Second Life 1.18.0(127) July 12, 2007
===================================== Fixed: * Crash due to the accidental deletion of an xml file. <======Ok But shows they broken one code to fix one? Or Worse fixed one to break multi ones ![]() * Order of names in the speakers list is unstable. <=========What who cares at this stage * Tab text overlaps voice icon in Communication window. <=========-OH GIVE ME A F****ING BREAK!!!!!! * Scrolling lists not scrolling to show the selected item. <======Code Monkeys what are you smoking? WHERE THE HELL IS THE FIX FOR RE OCCURING CRASHING? I SWEAR! OVER I BELIEVE 25 CRASH REPORTS AND ITS NOT ONLY ME SENDING THESE TYPES IN! This is a insult! Your focusing more on voice then the WHY THINGS ARE CRASHING? PLEASE PLEASE Don`t waste my time LLABS. Are you telling me your not even bothing to deal with issues? |
