Here's another request:
Finger nails: Match them to the makeup scheme. One of the skins I bought from a recommended artist had dark pinkish nails on a "natural" (brownish, low-makeup) skin. Another "natural" skin had black finger nails.

Welll *cracks knuckles*
I have over 4000 skins, yep, i'm a total skin freak and I have to say I practically live in Starley's Charmed line, but let me tell you, the new skin line of hers coming out soon (I HOPE) is going to blow your mind! It's just beautiful. I try and change my skins every day, to a different make up at least, with at least trying to wear a different creator once a week, just because I have to justify owning so many! ![]() I can't even really give you an answer that you are looking for, but yes, personally, I live 95% of my life in a Starley Skin, with Naughty, Gala, Au Nauturale, Sin Skins, Adam N Eve, TaP and umm.. GOD too many to mention .. I LOVE ALL SKINS.. how about that >.> I often find I need to fiddle with my face sometimes with a new skin, the mouth shape normally differs, but lately, people must be getting the mouths similar cos I haven't had to change for a while ![]() I was NO help at all, but when you find a skin that suits you, show us ![]() _____________________

Hit or miss

I have purchased a number of skins at this point. I read through all the suggestions given. I ran across a funny issue. One designer I really liked the style of what they were doing. So I bought the first skin and really hated it. It kept fading in and out. One minute i looked fine then a few minutes later looked like the girl from the exorcist. Now I bought a second skin from the same creator and it is perfect. Funny that different skins from the same designer could vary so greatly. I wish I could return the other skin as it was pricey but telling the designer her skin makes me look like the exorcist doesn't seem a fair reason for a return and refund. I guess it will join the pile of things I've bought and cant use. I wish they transfered then I would give it to a newbie or sell it.

LOL Willow! 4 thousand? I hope you've got a dedicated RAID4 server to keep them on!
![]() Up until a week ago my alt couldn't walk past three guys in her freebie CS Passport Malibu without one of them wanting to hump her! Anyone else twitching to get back onto the grid? Constance, are youusing the same shape with both skins? Bilbo bought a Naughty skin and found he kinda turned into a Mr Hyde in certain light. Lo and behold, reading the notecard that came with the skin suggested some eye settings which pefectly cured the prob ![]() |

One minute i looked fine then a few minutes later looked like the girl from the exorcist. I know what you mean but this is likely not a designer issue - it's a texture baking/texture rendering issue. Things go out of focus and then come back - it can make skins look horrible. It happens to me when I change skins and then wait for one to rez in while other comes off. In crowded areas or on laggy nights - I will sometimes see everyone's skins like this until i can get close enough to focus. You might also want to bump your cache if it's not already at the max. This seems to help. Best of luck |

Nevermore Studios
12-14-2006 13:45
I am surprised that no one mentioned Nevermore Studios (NST in search)
The Hybrid II series has the most artistically perfect makeup, skin tones are soft and look touchable, and the nips and bits are the best in the game - not one bit scary just absolutely lovely. Hand drawn and photorealistic so they may seem a bit too smooth for those that like "white-out" butts and cleavage (which I hate) but for my money I can't get enough of these beauties. No I don't work for Santana Lumiere or even know her - but daaaamn these are worth a look if you haven't liked what you have seen so far. PS: I own several other skins to please photographers and shop owners when I model, and they all have their merits. Some photograph well, some have really smooth cleavage lines, etc. One size does not fit all - wear what makes you feel like a princess. NST Sovereign Crux 55 73 23 Signs there are teasing with the final hand drawn Hybrid III *drool* |

Best looking skins
12-18-2006 13:03
I have had a few. I just bought another one and it is awesome. My muscles are shadowed and when the light hits me it tends to glow. Absolutely fantastic skin. It is made by Maximillion Grant. It is not inexpensive, but I would buy another in a second....VHF

The ones I love: CMFF (Chip Midnight) SS Labs (Namssor Daquerre) Au Naturel (Can't remember her name), but my fave make up and they may still be on sale. Au Naturel skins are by Laura Leandros. Her main store is at Deimos (199,91,47) |

I'm not finding the Cryogenic Labs site that Lizbeth Marlowe referenced. Does anyone have a LM for them or a creator name?

I looked at skins for well over a month before I purchased mine. Something I recommend to all new SL residents. Your skin will define you more than anything else. It may be the most expensive item you purchase for a long time.
My skin is the PJ-0 by Nammsor (Second Skin labs). It is the only skin I wear. I love the way it looks and have it in several different make-ups. I also love the look of the Robin Sojourner’s new Yummy skins. If I was in the market for a skin, I would certainly consider one of hers. Jen |

I have to say that this is by far one of the most useful threads I've found in the forum.
Thanks for everyone posting their picks. I think I tried on a good % of them. In the end I went with Naughty Designs Paris Athletic (Ultra Light). I was shocked by the level of detail on the skin and how realistic it looked. Bought it, transferred my tattoos and I love it to death. I also tried: Pixel Deep (Nice selection of naughty bits, a little too subdued for me, and I didn't like the feet) Gala (Lovely skin tone, makeup a little too "sharp" looking, odd looking feet) TaP (Sorry these didn't really do anything for me) CS Passport (Very nice skins, but again a little subdued for me) NST Hybrid II (This was my runner up. Great depth of tone and nice feet) Oh and a big "You Suck" to the men who heckled me while I was in the ND store trying skins on. Haven't you got a sex club to go to ? |

I went skin shopping again yesterday and boy, some skins totally change your look.
Also, if selling shapes i suggest you note the name of the skin you are using in your ad so they can actually get the look you advertise. I bought a shape for my tattoo model because i didnt feel like making one, I had to drop 1,800 on the skin as well. |

Oh and a big "You Suck" to the men who heckled me while I was in the ND store trying skins on. Haven't you got a sex club to go to ? Yeah, that's really annoying. I usually pick up a bunch of demos at once and go back home to try them, just because I don't want to have to deal with that. I'm sure somebody has mentioned this already, but I've gotten in the habit of making a different version of my shape for different skins, since the lips tend to vary such a lot. I've started keeping the shape copies in a subfolder along with the skins I have by that maker... makes it much easier. I just bought a few more of Starley's Charmed line, since she has her big sale going on... also have a bunch from Canimal, one from Gala that has a nice tan and soft, subtle makeup... each type gives me a really different look, but generally all I have to change is the lip shape. _____________________

You really have to change your shape to fit the skin.
I remember when I tried on the TAP skin I thought it was ugly. Then I got a freebie one when I was playing around with an alt and worked on changing the face to look good with that skin and she turned out beautiful. ![]() ![]() _____________________

You just HAD to ask

I bought one skin when I first came inworld and far as I was concerned, that was a done deal. I loved the over all body treatment of my Natural Evolution skin, and was satisfied with the understated facial makeup. How could I possibly need another skin?
But this thread started me thinking about my skin and wondering just how much difference another one would make. So I tried on a few demos from another skin artist and was startled to see the transformation in my avatar's appearance. Unfortunately, I couldn't find that kind of treatment for my face in the Evolution line. Thus began my own personal quest for A New Look. I probably spent close to a L$100 just on demos and filled my Inventory with folder after folder of skin samples by every skin artist mentioned in this thread. Then I spent nearly the entire day trying them all on and comparing the details. It was loads of fun! And in the end, I settled on a Hybrid II that I found most pleasing overall in terms of body rendering and facial makeup. Now I'm eagerly awaiting the Hybrid III series. Anyone know when that's expected to debut? |

Can I just throw one in for the men? I stayed with a standard skin, got the usual Huxleyan "oh, you could look soooo much better dahhhlink" shill from some airheaded bimbo cruising about the place whipping up trade for a certain VERY rich skin shop.
Went over there, decided I didn't want to look like any of the balding rapper boy or skinny geeks they had... and ended up copping off* with the head saleslady. In my stock skin. Which must prove something... * "copping off" - English quasi polite slang for "engaging in casual and vicarious sexual relations" |
