OK LL...what the hell is the metter with you? Please please please put things back the way they were before!!!
I have logged on to SL tonight to find that all the lovely LAG that I had been saving up is all gone. My inventray is all there, my friends list is showing all my friends, I have L$ showing up on the corner of my screen... I create objects on the ground, and they create, I pull things out of my Inventry and they appear straight away... how are we meant to work with these conditions? Oh... little update...
Now it seems that my search is working..what the hell is with that? And for some reason when I pay for land or objects, I get things in return... like land and objects or whatever I was buying. And as if that wasnt bad enough.. I press the teleport button..and guess what happens? I move!!! I go to the damn place where I want to go!!! Thats it... I had enough.
If Linden Labs cant offer me some sort of half baked platform/software to play on every 3rd night, Where I can spend my money trying to deal with difficulties and problems all the time, Im out of here!!!!

I guess what Im trying to say is...

Nice update guys... Very smooth... very well done!!!

So far....lol

You need to kill the graphic in your signature, its stretching the forums pages...
This update has caused me loads of issues... I have a shop full of things, when I try and take anything, it hangs in limbo, looses its decription, owner status, locks up and sl eats them. NC's loose their perms and content. Every 5 seconds my head jerks like I have some sort of nervous tick... (thankfully others say they don't see it), scripts using 'email' communications no longer function, land media textures become welded to the sim and cant be changed, once deleted and set to default, revert back within a few seconds, the textures also swap perms so I can't do anything with them. Objects I delete hang for 15-30 minutes, dissapear and then become some sort of ghost wall blocking walkways. The corner of our sim resembles a driftwood collection point in a quay, but you can't do anything with them.

It's heart warming that this 'update' was delayed for more thorough checking/testing, I dread to think how bad things would have been if they rolled it out last week  .

At best, this is a sloppy cobbled together bandaid, with more holes than flymesh. Obviously, someone is in charge of releasing this 'product' as stable and defined as an 'upgrade', they should be sacked... this isn't upgrading it's regression. Clearly, those responsible for this continous rollout of rubbish, do not know their job as well as they think they do. It's about time, LL contracted this work out to professionals (I define professionals as in being able to complete something to a set standard, not as in they are paid a wage). Now LL have run out of 'get out of jail free cards' and should bite the bullet, employ a professional company to deploy version 2 from a clean starting point. Forget all these multiple decimal placed 'updates' and stop embarrassing themselves being passed off as professional coders, it's becoming a joke.. sorry guys, but a big thumbs down.

Ok... #1 Its not stretching on my pages... so thats interesting. Incidently, It was when I was using IE, but now Im using Firefox its fine.

#2..Seriously though... you are having all those issues? I find it hard to believe..I really do. I sometimes wonder if some of these problems are more on the end user side of things than the LL side. (a perfect example is if your head is twitching back and forth on your screen...yet not anyone elses... its probably fairly safe to say you are having the issue, not SL).
Anyway...shame to hear your having such a bad time of it all...

I came across the 'undeletable' feature last night. Many (not all, thankfully) objects that I attempted to delete doggedly remained in-worl no matter what I tried to do. Still I take small comfort that it's nowhere near as bad as the 1.7 'Grey Life' update.

I have the same 'nervous tick' as AWM and the problem with deleting objects. So it's not a "user side" issue, it's a Linden issue as these problems only started after yesterday's update.

Ditto on the "nervous tick" and also the lovely cross eyed bug. I bug reported both on JIRA.

This was a problem before 1.17

To get rid of the ghost prims requires a sim restart.

The only issues I'm having with this update is that my client seems to take a long time to load up.
Anybody else seeing this?

Yes I agree it is a user side issue, not one I had before and therefore not indicative to my system as its top of the range setup, only this so called 'update'.

The loss of items and 'ghost' prims is LL side... in a nut shell, its all LL issue as I don't create my client lol..

New Update not a Bed of Roses for everyone!
06-14-2007 08:03
Hey Alice, can I come play at your house?

Since the update I am completely unable to stay online at all. 8 out of 10 time that I log, within 2 min I am crashed.

The 2 out of 10 times that I am able to stay on more than 2 min, the lag is worse than ever;attempting to walk sends my avi scurrying off into oblivion; I am having the cross eyed avi bug; every time I try to tp, use chat or open inventory- I crash. I also am experiencing the no delete bug. Yes, it takes forever for the client to load. Using the camera controls intermittently causes a tick and then a crash.

I have a pent 4 with 2 gig of ram and an NVIDIA GeForce 6800 with 256mb of video ram and the latest driver. I don't think its my machine.

Support is down. If someone has a phone number for support that would be great! I cant seem to find it.

rezzed my dusty old 1170 prim mansion to take some snapshots per request, deleting it again and 136 turn into ghosts... didn`t even unlink the 12 pieces ugh...

I have to agree, it was performing a lot better for me before the update. I'm happy to see that the texture picker works now, but objects I delete are taking a really long time to disappear, some of my camera functionality (alt + control and up/down arrow keys) no longer works unless I hit escape constantly, and a build I had started on before the update was totally unlinked afterwards. Sigh.

I have this problem too, but only when the chat bar is open. If it's closed, everything works the way it did prior to the update.

I'm really annoyed that the Support Portal is down...day after an update, when there's bound to be problems, nice timing. Among other things, I have a a big invisible prim in my living room that I keep walking into, but I can't contact LL to get a restart. Grrrr.

Oh, and I mentioned this elsewhere, but I received a notecard from someone in-world and was unable to look at the second note embedded in it. I mentioned it to her, in case the perms were off, and she received the same 'You are not allowed to view this note' message. She made it, but she couldn't view it.

Awesome, thanks for the JIRA link for the camera controls! Voted and commented, and added it to my own sig. I hope this can get fixed soon.

How nice for you, I wish the rest of us could say the same :p

Unfortunately, I would have to agree that this update was a disaster in every sense of the word. It's easily the worst I've seen in several months, with a regression of several of the most annoying bugs (like permanenty losing any item whose scripts I edit and then attach) and the introduction of a few critical new ones.

SL is almost adequately capable of being used as a 3D chat room right now, but that is no mind-numbingly boring and useless that I can't really see the point. It's certainly not stable enough for scripters and builders to be productive.

They should just have this thread as permenant so people don't have to keep making a new one after each update.

It's all working as good as can be expected for me. There is still the inventory/texture search issue and a couple deleting issues but nothing I can't handle on my old ass computer.

Give it a rest, people!

Well, user-side would be the SL Client, which I still would like to be able to have semi-functional, and it's LL's job to fix. Unless, of course, you're making the absurd "ITZ UR COMPOOT3R" claim, in which case [Broadly Offensive commen].

While it's wonderful that everything is so skippy for you, you might very well be in the minority. Or you never bother trying to script or build.

Um, did you read the first message? All the way? First mesage said something along the lines of "good job." Granted that was at the end, but still.

I'll give it a rest as soon as everything is working at some sort of usable level.

Toodles.

The update was fine.

The delete prim issue has been ongoing since at least the update prior to this one, it just suddenly got far more noticeable to some people... maybe because the rest is working better?

I've been having to restart my sandbox sim 2-3 times daily over this issue for two weeks or so. That's rude to those working, but if I have no prims left for them to work with because the phantom prims are still counting against the available total, they won't be able to work anyway.

SVC-242 is directly dealing with this issue and the concierge Linden I spoke with this morning is very aware of the issue and they are working on it with all due priority according to her.

The update did introduce a couple of new quirks -- camera controls, crossed eyes, and a few other things I might not have noticed yet. The other issues are mostly like to do with the asset servers they can't seem to get working right. I'm just a little extra irritated that they posted in the blog that everything was fine. Unless, of course their idea of "normal" differs from mine considerably:

From: someone
It appears that the asset server issues we have had over the past few days may be hardware related. We have re-routed the asset traffic to other servers and everything should be returning to normal. Thank you for your patience while we hunted this bug down.

yeah... I've got nothing but a big bucket of troubles since the update.

I've even resorted to browsing thru the forums because I can't make anything work in-world...

the owner of the company I work for sent out a message today to all of its builders and scripters to avoid working on anything important until some major issues are resolved.

which means I have no excuse now not to do yardwork.

and I hate yardwork.

I know that the Lindens are juggling a ball of cats (no offense, sweet Beez...)- but that doesn't mean we can't get cranky when things are broken.

venting sometimes helps.
