Some Adult Noob questions...

I stumbled into an adult club, and one ofthe patrons asked if my character had a "male member". What's the deal here? Where does one go to purchase and equip genitals?

You might want to edit this post to remove the one word there-- the forums are PG. Then after that, in-world you can do a search for the offending word and find all the info you need

The question caught me off guard, what with being new around here.

Xcite is usually the main suggestion for naughty bits.

There are others out there, they are cheaper but don't have as much functionality as Xcite, and Xcite also has TONS upon TONS of components that work together.

Pretty much anything you can imagine is there, along with anything you want, along with anything anyone could ever fantasize about.

.. and what you hadn't imagined .. and wished you'd thought of earlier!

Although some "fuctionalities" spam the heck out of chat and annoy people.

There are many different "bits" for sale in SL. I would advise a good browsing around before purcase. If you already have a partner in SL, talk with them as to what they may find intresting. Or, if you have building and scripting skills, you can make your own.

Remember, that first product you see, isn't always the best, and like skins, "bits" come in a wide variety and some are extremely overpriced for what is offered.

Those "functionalities" can be muted and turned off witha click of a button.

The Xcite Hud is a wonderful tool.

Xcite is the most well known but there are definatly plenty of options. A search for genitals will probably bring up some good other options. If you IM me in game I'll happily help with your search (easier than hear as don't have to talk PG).

Since Xcite! is the only name mentioned above, I'll mention Sensations which can be found at Dungeon Online. Not quite as nice as Xcite! but close and far more affordable.

I've always thought that developers of this type of product should add a way to limit the green text to only people who are interested in seeing it. Maybe chat/whisper on a separate channel for messages and have the HUD do llOwnerSay when it sees messages from somebody else.

Unlike RL, you don't need the proper 'equipment' to engage in intimate play (although it seems most guys find it more than a little disconcerting to have bits missing ) since any enjoyment would come from the verbal interaction with your partner and having them react back to you.

If you're going to rely on scripted bits to do everything for you, what's left is simply the visual novelty which is likely to wear off pretty soon because the parts will decide everything for you. You could both walk off for 20 minutes and come back to find that your bits are telling you just had the best time of your life.

You don't have to write the best erotic novel, but even "dirty talk" is going add a dimension that's far more personal and "real" than any scripted pre-typed line can manage.

The best advice would be to find someone willing to show you what either sex' scripted bits do and don't do (or visit a few of the 'free sex' places and keep an eye out for green text - it should also show you why bigger isn't necessarily better ) and then base your decision on that, but don't simply base it on the claim that you need Xcite/Sensations/etc to do anything intimate with your partner.

I do agree with you. Actually the best thing comes up from a good mixture of "scripted bits", different animations and poses, yours and your partner "verbal inputs" and I would add what you do and say first... and after.

The absolute best that I've ever seen is sold by Winter Ventura; I believe she should have the sales location in her picks. All functions are /on command/, rather than automatic; you won't, ahem, suffer from premature greentextication.

To address some concerns:

All of Xcite's bits and pieces come with several settings: shout, say, whisper and muted. It's just the same as pretty much any prim that chit chats. Some people just don't care enough about others to make it discreet between you and the person touching you (in which case, it's forever added to my mute list).

If you do not get the HUD, the easily modifiable (and copyable, in case you don't want to goof) card allows this and explains how to do this in the first few lines.

The HUD allows for Xcitement override, so that you don't get too excited too fast, and also allows you to set in the notecards the level of what is done to you and how much it gets you going (on a 1-10 scale, I believe). The HUD also allows you to easily deny or allow permissions to others with a click (although this can be done in the notecard as well), target with a click, all kinds of fun stuff, and if you are dancing and can't catch a toy... click yourself in your HUD! Personally, I wouldn't know what to do without my HUD now. lol

What Xcite does and says also is fully customizable.

P.S. I changed the wording in my notecard (as if I ever use my Xcite parts) and what my bits say is completely what I would say, which makes it more personal when I'm too busy to type. Ironically, I've thought all this out and I haven't worn them for months! Maybe I'm deprived!

Actually, while a lot do like Xcite, some do not. My dislikeis not so much with the spam (as stated, they have fixed that), but I simply do not like thier builds, nor the scripting of the actual bits.

I did think the interfacing with all the bits and with other products (like beds and such) was nicely done, and all the work involved shows an lot of talent.

So when I say "Functionality" I do not just mean chat-spam *chuckles*. I just mean functions I don't like. To each their onw ^.~

sigh... this topic reminds me of the old days *nestalgic look* back when Commander and Strokerz were top dog, and prim sex was well thought out roleplay... thought went into what was said and done, not just jump on pose ball and click like mad. The more sex in SL evolves, the more i shake my head at the loss of what use to be fun.
