From: Deandra Watts I get a bunch of dolls, dress them in white write "Missing Image" on the clothes with magic marker, cut their hair off, tape it to their butts, attach strings to their necks and toss them across the room (TP) then snap them back to their original position. I also burn about $3.00 - $5.00.
This mentally prepares me for what's in store when the grid comes back up. ROFL! That's awesome! Don't forget to TP them into a gray box every now and then.

It's time to sleep, today i finished setting up a Fedora Core 6 Linux for hosting my websites, such a domain: islab.net, and the contents is sill not completely done.. i will upload web content ASAP.. From: Charlene Trudeau Today I plan to explore a bit of Blender and maybe some terrain raw file editing to see if I can learn something new and useful for use tomorrow and moving forward. I'll also probably go exploring various forums and if I get really bored, go see if the kids have killed each other yet... <g>
I do have to wonder why I told them it was cooked breakfast day. I could have slept another two hours...

Spent a lot of today at work with the aftermath of domain issues and downtime ...
Personally, I don't REALLY mind the downtime. Means I can do other things and also, unlike a fair few people. I realise that developments have a rollout so sometimes you have to do things which make no sense to your end users because they pave the way for something good in three release's time.
This having been said, most of this week's stuff is updating and patching all the borked stuff. I am all for that.
I do wish it was not Euro/UK peak hours when all this happens ... I realise the chances of getting SF based staff in early morning is VERY unlikely (our Dev Team reside just a few streets away from Linden Lab) but come on ... you now have more Germans on SL than Americans, and the French are in second place. Put that together and those two sectors alone should say ... cater to customer demand and shell out a few extra beans and a latte or two!

From: Markubis Brentano I never have issues with updates either. P4 3.0 Ghz hyperthreading chip Nvidia 6600 GT w/ 256MB RAM 1.75 GB RAM XP sp2 From: Ken March Good configuration, me: P4 1.86 512M RAM Nividia GeForce Go 6400 / 256MB RAM Fedora Core 7 Linux and XP sp2 Not bad SL is REAL "finicky" about your exact Specs from what I have seen & heard, but seems like nobody really know why the Updates are "super" problematic for some, not at all for others. ..'course in this day & age a lot of us don't just have stock IBM computers...they come w/ different Graphics Cards, etc...

Well, a few hours have passed.
The tape that held the hair to their butts came loose and the hair is now gone. I imagine it's under the bed but I'm calling that the "asset server issue" now.
The string wore out after a few hundred "TPs" and one doll flew out the window and was run over by a passing UPS truck. I set up a fake email addy to complain for the doll that she was locked out of the game, but I'm just sending cut & paste responses and generally ignoring the issue.
I hadn't thought about the nails through the shoes as being inshoemane, so I decided, instead, to just shove a few shoes up my own @$$ so I don't get listed on some website as a shoe hater. Then I realized why bother with the dolls and I shoved my head up there, too.
This way, I've got the shoes and hair where they're likely to be when I log back in, and I'm in a more realistic position when I ignore the emails from the run over doll.

From: Brenda Connolly Now I know why my Mom wanted me out of Brooklyn by sundown......... So you wouldn't drive over one of my test subjects and be convicted of dollicide? Because you were confused when you didn't first go past 77th Street, then 77th Road, then 77th Avenue, then 77th Boulevard, then....

I dont care, since somebody has to stop me from being on SL all the time. I can even make it feel like it is my own decision not to logg in....

I'm a nervous wreck but it is waiting to see if I will be able to use SL after the upgrade and mandatory download (this is a mandatory download, right?).

I'm nervous, but, it's not because the grid is down, I don't care about that, it's because, as an owner of 2 estates, you get REAL freaked out when black Wednesday rolls around and you simply have to wait to see what the next major LL screw up is, maybe search is down, group chat is dead, avatars are all ruthed, and you have a hole in your head, who knows! It's not a big mystery that the program becomes progressively worse every Wednesday, the problem is, one Wednesday, it's going to get so bad, that my investment crumbles before my eyes.
