The worst thing for me is wondering if my computer will be able to cope with new update.

The update is scheduled during my normal work hours anyway... so makes no matter to me, so long as it works better than it has been.

After watching them bork virtually every update for the past year or so, I can only wonder what is going to go wrong this time.

Updates have a pretty consistent record of breaking products that people (including myself) sell, so there's usually a feeling of urgency to get in-world as soon as possible in order to find out what's broken, devise a fix, and do damage control early :)

The downtime itself doesn't really bother me. I honestly don't understand why it's such a big deal.

The fact that SL is down is not a worry. What happens when the Monkeys are finished is always interesting.

Very interesting as they rattle mass boxes of 'spare parts' that they found.

Yeah, the down time itself doesn't bother me, but what comes when it's back up does. Will the login server work? Will the asset server be unfried in time or will it be refried? Will we be able to teleport?

Shopping is out of the question until at least Tuesday.... never know what will hit and when.

My only complaint with the near-weekly downtime is that
it happens at PRIME TIME for me!

6AM to Noon is 9PM to 3AM here (China).

So basically I lose a day in SL.

But that's fine. It helps to prove to myself that I can live without it. Yeah.

Linden Lab should shut the whole thing down for a month so
countless others would realize they can live without it too. =)

Sadly..after dealing with update after update since last summer, I've grown accustomed to these.
But yes, after each one, I always wonder if I'll be able to run it without any hiccups.

I have gotten used to not even expecting to be able to get into SL for the first several hours. I usually plan RL errands for these times...with a twinge in the back of my head that tells me that the SL that I know and love may not even be available for several days after...sure it may run..but will TPs work? will search work? animations? will all of my wonderful surroundings be grayed out or fuzzy?

who knows.....I do know that LL means well and busts its ass to get it back in operation as quickly as possible.
I just wish they would stop introducing new "features" and focus on performance and stability.
Don't get me wrong...I love the cool stuff...but not if it means sacrificing my performance or affecting me being able to see my friends.

I'd just like to get back in sl and get some work done, but I understand updates are there for a reason.

I get a bunch of dolls, dress them in white write "Missing Image" on the clothes with magic marker, cut their hair off, tape it to their butts, attach strings to their necks and toss them across the room (TP) then snap them back to their original position. I also burn about $3.00 - $5.00.

This mentally prepares me for what's in store when the grid comes back up.

Does it really matter? LL isn't fixing and fixing correctly the things that matter most like tp issues or the Lindens issue of not being able to buy any.

The majority of these updates are nothing but time consuming and computer filling waste of time. Which will mess up many computers when downloading as can be seen in the tech forums.

Amen to that, sister.

But my new one's coming soon... I hope.

I simply treat update days as if the grid will be down until I wake up again the day after. If I actually get into sl *and* can do anything productive, its a nice pleasant surprise. If I can't, well... I haven't lost anything I was mentally counting on.

Today I plan to explore a bit of Blender and maybe some terrain raw file editing to see if I can learn something new and useful for use tomorrow and moving forward. I'll also probably go exploring various forums and if I get really bored, go see if the kids have killed each other yet... <g>

I do have to wonder why I told them it was cooked breakfast day. I could have slept another two hours...
