Okay, try this: Clear the cache, then go to preferences, start region. Select type region name here and then type in Pooley. See if that helps.

It may be an issue with the sim you are trying to connect to.

Sorry you're having so much trouble. I logged in to see if I can get in and I can. Login problems are a crap shoot anymore. Before if I couldn't log in, usually lots of other people couldn't either and the grid would be taken down for a while for an investigation. Now, random people cannot log in for uncertain periods of time while others can. Sometimes these weird occurrences last short periods of time lately. Keep trying. Have you tried logging in to a different location? Your home?

What Raudf said, Preferences > General Tab > make sure "Show Start Location on Login Screen" is checked. You will now have a box on the login screen that says "Start Location" Enter a name of a sim in there like Pooley or select Home.

Hi Taylor, go into preferences at your login screen if you don't see 'start location' in the lower left side of screen. Tick button to show this in your general tab of preferences and ok.
Then you should have a drop down of 'home location' or <select region> It is here you can type a name of a sim.

I usually suggest Pooley, since it's pretty quiet. Quite unlike Ahern ;)

If I wasn't at work right now, I'd TP to Pooley and do Help->About to get the sim DNS name and post it here so you could try pinging it.

To me, this sounds like a network problem on you end, Taylor. Made any changes there lately? Software firewall, maybe?

I have the same problem in the evenings (UK time) due to isp restrictions at peak times. I have found using the second look viewer at those times works.

The blog is your friend. Blog comments might be a different story but the blog itself is worth keeping an eye on..

It is called The First Look Viewer That link is to the blog where you can read about this experimental/beta software that connects to the live grid. Use at your own risk; make sure u read about it.

I have another idea. Maybe the system thinks you are still online. I'll go in world and IM your name. Sometimes that kicks them out of limbo.

It might help for you to think about what you might have changed on your end or have a conversation with your ISP, as it's very likely an issue somewhere in those two areas. If this were happening to me, the first thing I would do would be to ping second life to see what happens; based on that I would either call my ISP or look at my firewall.
