You really "sound like X."

I don't really care to go into this in any detail, as others have covered it nicely, but I agree: you're sounding a lot like "X," Kyrah. Maybe you should take a step back, get a little fresh air or something, take some time to really imagine yourself in the OP's situation, and then look through the thread again with a fresh perspective.

Or, if you prefer, you can use the Prok method. ;)

I'm not sure why this would NOT be considered an abuse and can only assume those who think it isn't have never been attacked by a follow-x object that makes your immediate environment completely unusable for everything from conversing to building. Tasks pretty fundamental to the Second Life experiences of many. I've certainly had these fleas attached to me, and it was far from a whoopee cushion experience and the only resolve was to tp to another sim. Not a big deal? Well I was attending an event so I thought it was.

I was never griefed with them a second time so haven't been able to check, but if these fleas use a similar 'following' method as the fireball in a certain psiTEC add-on, they can be isolated by walking/flying to the sim border that is the furthest away from you. Once there, open the map, and TP back to your original spot in the same sim. Provided there is enough distance between you and the follow-x obect (over 64 metres I think), they will remain where you left them.

As far as I'm aware, they won't follow you into another sim, so this assumes you would like to continue working in the sim where they were attached to you.

a well abuse report the fleas 'til your fingers bleed but i really don't think it will have much effect. Sound like calling the firefighters when your neightbor is making a barbecue in his backyard.

When this object is triggered, you are eventually (due to replication and spreading behaviour) no longer able to function correctly unless you leave the sim. And because the object is designed to spread to others, it results in areas of land being abandoned and avoided as people realise they're at risk too. That's pretty damn griefy and frankly, being orbited is less bothersome because at least you can recover from that in seconds by teleporting, so it doesn't surprise me that ARs do work on follow-x objects. I certainly know of somebody who got warned two weeks after accidentally unleashing the psiTEC flames on an unsuspecting shopper in the store where they're sold (if you don't use a name, they attach to the nearest person). Same kind of scripted object. Just using flames and not fleas.

To the extent that harmlessly making a barbecue in your own backyard is like deliberately and repeatedly infringing on another's space in a way that hinders that person's ability to do much of anything without leaving the area entirely, you are absolutely correct.

Bad analogies FTL. ;)

Ever since I joined SL I have been surprised that visual attacks, many traps, etc, were not apparantly considered abuse - and I think it might be time for that to change. Having an anvil dropped on your head can be fun, yes, but it might also alienate some new folks or innocents.

Suezanne, to answer your original question, I think you have to determine the name of each flea, then abuse report it.

This isn't easy to do, though, because fleas are notoriously reticent, except when it comes to biting. They like to eat and run.

(Sorry, I'm still amused, as I said in the other thread! Only in SL could we have such a problem as this!)

Actually, no. I'm a user of force prophecies and thats what work. The fleas from it will be 'lured' to any clothing layer or attachment on an avatar. If there fleas are from another product though I don't have the experience to make sugestions.

The fleas I am aware of do no attach to you through any normal method, just follow, multiply, fight amongst themselves and spread. They can aslo jump completely from you to another avatar. Theres a reason I have a 'no rez' greay/white 'unloaded' skin.

There's no way from script to determine state of AV clothing. Attachments (inlcuding maybe prim clothes, shoes and hair) yes, clothing no.

I get the feeling he's talking more about RL, not SL. *grins* But, I'm keeping Sue's method in mind the next time I visit a Linden Sandbox... those places are infested with that kind of scripting.

You call that griefing?
When someone make you the fart pillow joke you want to sue him?

get real please.

Don't be such a jerk. Of course it's griefing. Personally, if it was up to me Linden would publish the RL name, IP address, Email address and credit card number of anyone who did this, so we can go round to their house and break their legs. That would seem a lot fairer than suing them.

I have an object that uses this follow script. It's not for griefing, it's actually a large primt IT that hovers over an av's head so you can play tag. I'll read through the script and get back to you - there may be something in the follow script that helps.

By the way, it does not attach to you, it just follows you. Go to an land that has scripts disabled and it will detach and just be left floating in mid air, as it's script becomes disabled.

Ignore the clothes bit. I keep forgetting my prim eyes.

I think the assumption on his part was that the Object, from which the Particles was emenating would Detach along with all your other attachments (As for the clothes part, i think he really IS trying to get you Naked) But if the Attachment is Owned by another person, and has just anchored it's self to you, I doubt his suggestion would work. You might try this though, The ProTEC shield system has a scripted Defence called "Disrupt", Once you know the Name of the Object, Type in the Attack (For example, if the Object is called "Fleas" it would be /5 Disrupt Fleas) and the Object will be Detached from you and Flung off the Sim.

The problem is the disrupt function is a phys disruptor, the fleas are non physical followers, the only way out of them is to TP away.
