I'd go with the "Blame the Voice" option, but I've been noticing the Lag increase since the last set of Grid Problems were supposedly 'fixed'. And that was on the older viewer as well.

Normally I can fly around, walk around everywhere with barely any Lag. But since the last "fix" that seems to have changed.

HAHA No..........not saying it. Just saying I have no issues with lag at the moment. Please don`t assume. I was refering to and i said Voice is on a different server. I did not say it was the client. Well love i not getting any lag issues with the older client. You seem to be lost at the moment here.

Voice maybe on a different server, but there are 2 voice apps that run on the client machine: SLVoice.exe and SLVoiceAgent.exe.

Not saying that they are the cause of or are involved in whatever is causing any of the problems, but...

Well so many have made this a point that lag does not occur on voice client because it on 2 different servers. All i am saying is i have no issues with lag etc. And I using the older client. Thats all i said.

This sim time dilation issues continued after the mainland sim we were in this evening crashed twice in two or three hours (old viewer, no voice apps). An hour after it was up after the second crash, there were a couple TP failures too (at least one of those from someone using the voice client) and the TD fluctuations continued...

i don't know where it is, i believe somewhere in account info on the website - they had those updates over the weekend, and i've noticed on occassion it seems like the update 'doesn't take' some sims.

We don`t even have user ping workering in the client. Can`t even measure. Hard to do anything if we can`t read things correctly.

I've been having some similar issues (textures loading slow in my home sim, sometimes trouble TPing home)

Script performance is spiking up over 50,000 ips and is averaging around 30,000-40,000 ips with only a couple of people in the sim. (its a new class 5 in the Nautilus group)
I thought that was my problem and was causing my issues so I started inspecting my SIM and its neighbors (turnded on script beacons and flew around)
ONe of my neighbors built a shop/mall using the 25x25 mega prims on the floors/ceilings and I suspected that was causing the script issues.

But now after reading these other posts, perhaps theres something else going on.

I got the impression from the blog post that the recent rolling restart didn't extend beyond mainland. Is that true? Just wanted to throw this in, just in case, because I got the impression estate owners would have to restart their sims themselves

Unlikely, unless those are some pretty exotic scripts, bouncing physical objects off the megaprims.

Perhaps...but I have seen too many strange things with Mega prims (the fairly normal ones too) to not consider them as being the problem.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I warned another neighbor to not use them (she was playing with them in her build) and she didn't listen to me.....i got an IM from her 30 minutes later telling me that she had lost gravity on her land....which is exactly the symptom I had warned her about.

They said that the estate owners could restart their sims early to take advantage of the fixes, but that the sims would be restarted again during the regular restart sequence.

Huge lag, living in a land of packet loss.

Ever since Voice became mandatory, so I've been blaming it on that.

Voice chat isn't a strain on the grid. I can't remember the details but something about voice using a completely different system to function.

I've had prolonged, lag spikes as well lately.

What does your packet loss meter look like when the lag spikes occur?

I have an NVidia 7950GT. Not noticed anything odd but will look out for unusual happenings now.

Well... it's not *much* of a strain on the grid, or anyway isn't *supposed* to be, when it's working correctly. The voice service doesn't run on the sims, but finding voice partners for the voice service to connect, determining avatar location for speech sound origin, determining estate and parcel voice permissions, and other sorts of voice-related overhead operations must use the same shared servers as the rest of the grid. So, if the voice feature *integration* is b0rked, all bets are off.

Voice has been on the main grid for months (accessible using the First Look viewer)

But only a very small number of people were using it.

I have 7950 GX2 with 1 gig mem and I'm getting vicious spikes..are you building much? Happens when I move camera around a build. Might be texture related cause textures are taking longer to rez.

I didn't even update, since I don't plan on using voice and have had massive lag as mention in the OP.

Camming around causes the screen to hang, having to exit using task manager, walking ending up in a treadmill action rather than any progress.

Maybe it's related to the connectivity issues they've disabled the grid for today? (Let's hope that's it.. maybe they can fix it)

I kinda thought that's what's been happening to me lately, but since I thought the memory bug problem had been fixed, then that couldn't be what's causing the problems.

Yep, I've been having the problem since downloading the optional viewer.

From: Calveen Kline
Someone mentioned that the memory hog bug is back in the newest version of the client, that would explain the sudden spikes in client side lag.

Same here folks....nice to know it's not just me.... No crashing issues, but major major lag on all 3 of my plots...there also seems to be an issue when camming, as others have reported.

One of these plots is one I just bought - the other two have established setups so I don't think I have any dodgy scripting causing me problems as they were fine a week or so ago.

I saw a Linden near my land today and attempted to walk across it to ask him about my lag issues...unfortunately the lag was so bad that I couldn't get to him before he TP'd out....oh the irony!!!

Yup, exactly the same problem. Everything has been fine for months until the recent voice upgrade recently. Now it's lag hell, inventory will not load correctly and with several crashes an hour.

[Update Noon PST on August 8, 2007] Logins are still disabled as our ops team works to resolve our network connectivity problems.

Think this is to address the issues we are having ?
