I find this experience strange…
I am not normally very tolerant of buggy SW but I’ve been in SL for about two months and loggin in almost daily… I crash a lot, but I just get up, dust the bits off and jump right back in…
I've spent a whole evening in one single place (Could not tp… ) but I did meet a couple of interesting people and still had a great time.
I would not be this tolerant of any other SW app or game… if a game would crash on me once every time I fire it up I would not play it for very long… So what is it about this place?

I LOVE IT that’s why. A huge thank you to all the good friends I have made, and chance encounters with the people who far outnumber the jerks. A huge thank you to all those who create and share for nothing more than the fun of it.
Yes, let’s rid SL of big business casino’s, go away corporate’s you are not wanted and contribute nothing, let’s be on our guard against the use of sl for enacting child porn.
But above all let’s retain the colour and fun, step back Lindens take note that it is the rank and file residents who make sl what it is, they are the ones you must nurture and encourage. Give us the tools and a stable platform PLEASE. well said, except that i feel there's room for corporations too, they will either learn to contribute or leave when they realise that they are too boring to get traffic hehe

I think a big part of enjoying SL for me, despite its bugs and tomfoolery by ne'er-do-wells, is the development of a healthy proportion of RL and SL. It only took me about 6 months to get there, but I have a very nice balance now. It helps to buffer the problems with SL, and provides something to do during SL downtime :^). Actually many of my home hobbies were suffering after introduction to SL, and now those are getting equal share and actually more these days. Look for your balance Daniel-san!

Damn i was caged within 20 minutes of my first connection on this char  but happy SL-birthday and I totally agree. When i first (my VERY first alt years ago) connected i was more about the clubs, gambling etc. After awhile you find there is so much more to SL. Building, scripting, flying into combat sims with bullets blazing while people are cursing your name because you attacked them in a combat sim... There is more to SL than what everyone complains about, just open up and fly around. If you hit lag so what? Unless you're in a combat sim then you're in trouble... hehehe Remember - back in the day we HAD to fly we didn't have this teleport to parcel junk we had telehubs! And sometimes that telehub was 2 sims over so we had to fly thru 2 sims just to get there and it sometimes was snowing with mountains 500 meters high! *babbles on as he gets dragged inside by people in white coats*

You could compare SL to a sinking ship full of all sorts of people. Some want the boat to sink. Some don't care (sometimes leads them into contributing to it). Some want to help LL keep it afloat but can't get their ankle in the door. The captain and his crew are on break. Theres a storm brewing, but it isn't rendering. With every rock of the boat (bugs, new features, linden decisions), people fall off, and new people get on. People think this is international waters, and can do whatever they want, but we are actually docked to San Fransisco. Being docked gives it possibilities that people don't take notice of, like for other people to hop aboard and save it from sinking? Those are just my examples, induced by hard thinking, and rambling. |

The reason most of us come back? The addiction calls, man... too long away means the shakes.. and the shakes mean the hallucinations kick in...

None of those things are the problem though. Have you even visited any of the RL corporation's sims?
