These aren't houses - they're night club builds.. and pretty nice ones at that. The builder is quite talented. He/She would do well to reconsider the way he/she dealt with this particular customer however. Even if their name hadn't been exposed here in the forums, reputation eventually tends to precede you in-world. This is not a smart way to kick off a business, particularly when the build quality is such that the business could do exceptionally well without resorting to the "get all you can, can all you get, and sit on the can" approach to sales. From: Raymond Figtree Somebody double bought a plot of land on a laggy day and I did not even wait for them to contact me first, I just tracked them down and paid them back. What the owner is doing is stealing and taking advantage of SL's unreliable performance. I am glad you posted some info to give us a clue as to who it is. Also, why would you ever pay that much for a house? Next time, go to Ace's Spaces. Not only are her houses gorgeous and reasonably priced, but she gives back errors when they happen.

Nope. No scam here. Yes the seller could have offered the refund, but it's a legit transaction. Unfortunate. All I can say is you have an extra house in case you modify the original and mess it up. Or buy a small piece of land, and use the house as a rental property. Or ask the builder if he would give you a no/copy transfer version, take back the one you have. You could at least give it away then.

just a poor excuse for a businessperson

Sounds like business sucks for this person. Holding on to every penny at the expense of a customer who made a purchase in error. Now the customer is sharing with all his friends what a lousy place this is to shop. The customer doesnt need to 'out' this person on the boards, word of mouth can spread quite far. If the customer screwed up and bought two non transferable items, give em back the money. If the customer accidently bought two copies of a transferable item, take one back and give em back the money. A happy customer is more inclined to tell his friends what a great shop you have and send more customers your way. This fiasco will end up costing the store owner more than 5k in lost sales. All it takes are two potential customers who take their 5k elsewhere due to a bad review. A scam, no. Piss poor business practise, yes.

*locks* Private discussions – the forums are a public area for the Second Life community’s use.
