I set it up back last September when I entered SL and until four weeks ago there was no problems. I had nothing when I joined and have been pretty successful in building a business all done on paypal. Always legal always in good standing until 4 weeks ago, when 2 days after taking 1675 US$ for my last new island, they put this stupid block on that refuses to accept my account as a legitimate one. Guess what no one at billing can figure it out, and still nothing new on the Blog about a solution other than the expensive option of using a credit card.

All of you who are having problems... CONTACT YOUR CC COMPANY!

Ask them, specifically, whether they are rejecting the payment attempt. If they say they are, FIND OUT WHY.

From rummaging around the Knowledge Base:

* There are no funds available on the credit card to validate it. We send a US$1.00 authorization to ensure that a credit card is valid. While this isn't a billing, the card must have at least US$1.00 available on it to pass validation.

My UK credit card company has explicitly told me that they regard small amounts being charged to a card as suspicious, and they have suspended my card to protect me from fraud on at least 2 occasions due to LL repeatedly attempting to bill for US$1. I assume that fraudsters also use a similar method to check whether a card is genuine and worth stealing from.

Aexander all of you who are having problems does not address the fact that Paypal balances are not being able to be used to pay Linden Labs in a large number of cases, because of the. 'The Use Of This Paypal Account Has Been Restricted' error. That has nothing to do with Credit Cards.
