freebies, don't give anything back to the providing party.
Only traffic and name.. nothing more..
to deal with the land costs, one needs to get income somehow.
(and freebee hunters, think you only give freebees, and are dissapointed to see, if you as provider offer goodies for money, on your own land.. tilted advertisement in the negative way, so to say)

think about that, peeps.. no money no game.. no stuff in sl.. simple.

I'll pass on a bunch of shapes. (male and female) I have tons and I barely even get in SL any more but I love love love doing shapes so I'd be happy to see some of my fav creations at least get out there as freebies. ;) Shapes are such a bone of contention (people always prefer to make their own to remain unique, but it's tricky to learn at first)

Anywho, happy to help you out Sarah~!!! You were, after all, my first Landlord in SL and you had an immensely positive impact on my SL experience~!! :D

i know that as a noob sarahs was one of my favourite places. id go there, find something cool, then go hunt down the creators store to see what other great things they had available.
and thats why i have 'donated' freebies to sarahs place. i know my product is exposed to a lot of people as a result, and i know it wont be long they are in my store.

Is it worth it? I'd say so!
10-12-2008 02:13
Of course it's worth putting out freebies. Firstly, I'm sure I've heard it said that it is more blessed to give than to receive! And secondly, you can add a brief notecard to your boxed up goodies, to the effect that there are more free or very inexpensive items at your store, or perhaps they would consider joining your update group which also gives out gifts. The point is, we all arrive with no money, and we will only stay if there is something worth staying for. Generosity and kindness are two of those things, surely?

Later, when those new residents have settled in and decided to stay, and have sorted through all their free stuff, the good quality items will be staying in their inventory, and when they have funds, yours will be a store they go to and spend.

If anyone truly doubts the worth of giving out freebs, take a look around the really highly thought of free places - Sarah's for sure, but also the Free Dove, Fab Free, Help People etc. See all thiose famous SL names? Pretty much all the successful, well regarded stores have items there. I guess they think it worthwhile!

Hope I haven't missed the boat here? I have a prefab Home & Shop that I've just made available as a freebie and would love to add it your Freebie Paradise. Any chance of an invite to the group though so I can place it myself as the permissions need to be mod/copy (no trans). I'm inworld at the mo so will send you a note there too.

Thanks again to everyone for the kind words and for the freebies. Those who asked for an invite to place an item I'm get to that tonight when I'm back in sl. As for is it worth it?? Hell yea it is. I learned by accident that offering one of your creations not only helps the community, it is an EXCELLENT way to get your name known, and to drum up interest in your products. If you offer a top quality freebie, people will want to see more. If it's something they love and get good use out of, it often reminds them of your name when they go to seek out more items. In my opinion and experience offering a freebie is one of the best advertisement methods in Second Life.

Hullo Sarah, this might be a bit seasonal, but for October I've been giving away a flying bat pet. If you think it would have year around appeal, I'll send it to you.

Sarah, is there an "ending date" for this offer? I'd like to get together 2 very nice packages of my stuff to put down, but I won't have time to do a quality set until after Nov 2. Can I get in touch with you then to get the stuff to you?

Thanks!

Nah I'm not going anywhere. Offers good as long as I still have prims (which should be a long time)

I create some items myself. Since I bear the full rights to my own stuff, I can also give it away for freebie usage. The quality is just mediocre since I just started sculpting.

So I have high and low prim melee weapons, and starting on lights and furniture. Clothing is a bit difficult for now. I'll get the hang of that soon.

I just won't sell my items for money, because I don't want to start a business on SL. :)

I've made some men's and women's clothes that I've handed out to a few SL friends, but I really don't know how good it is. I wear it and like it and people say they like it too but you never know if they're (just) being polite.

If you want them, IM me in world. You can decide if you want to give it to others or not. Please just keep my name on it is all I ask because the point is, I'm trying to get started as a designer. :P

I don't know how to box things though. So it's up to you if that poses a problem.

PS, if these do not have to be items we made, I have lots of good things. Let me know. Some are full perm, I think. Maybe tell me what you are still short on.

edited mine to remove your quote

I feel it is mean to leave a quote that someone edits out themselves, because they had a change of heart

it happens to us all, we have that moment.... then feel badly so remove it

unfortunately, not everyone will remove quotes that the OP removed

as I said... welcome to friday
heh
