I used to play the sims and having to eat, sleep, pee etc was the thing I hated, I just used to use hacks in the game to get around it so I could do what I enjoyed doing :D

If Avatars were to require food/sleeping.. would there also be a graveyard, because mine would surely be the first to go there?

I could save you a space in my graveyard if you like ;)

Someone needs to release a 'Hungry/Sleepy' HUD ;)

Wear it, and it shows you how 'hungry' and 'sleepy' you are.

To eat: Click on scritped 'protien packs' (available for purchase in a variety of flavors)

To sleep: Right-click & sit on the scripted 'magic bed' (sold seperately)

There's your buisness model...... somebody run with it! :D

hmm. Good ideal. I can charge restaurants so fee for the hud to make you hungry for a FatBurger! or you need the super deluxe cloud 9 bed for a good nights sleep! And don't get pregant - I'll have the pickle makers bidding on the rights to name their pickle as the one you want!

I doubt it is going to be a popular idea. Perhaps for the Realists out there who enjoy that sort of environment, an AO could be scripted and marketed which may or may not already exist.

I have been toying with the idea of opening a few restaurants for quite some time now. But, without hunger, they're not likely to be very popular with the exception of a few customers on dates. With a hunger system, this sort of enterprise would be quite successful.

Unfortunately, with commercial businesses moving quickly in to SL, I can also see the SL WalMart Superstores packed to the gills so that people can stock their inventories with virtual Ramin Noodles so they don't have to worry about starving to death just before the Sploder ball bursts. XD

Sign-up is involuntary. And it is a long, long time before they will accept your credit card. Better hope you get good mentors at the start, and land at a well-supplied and -financed Infohub.

But I'm warning you: It is REALLY immersive....

You might want to stay in SL.

hmmm sounds difficult. any possibles cheats to leveling up?

The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

*grins* Okay, lets cover my track record with (edit) virtual things that require 'feeding' and 'sleeping' to survive.

Creatures 1-3: They'd die within a couple of hours, depending on what version of the game. Creatures 3 norns usually did die within five to six hours, but Creatures 2 norns died in one hour. Often, they'd die due to 'culling of the herd,' where I've bred them and now, it's bye-bye. The few I allowed to die of old age were the teachers of the young.

Tamagotchi: I killed them almost within 5 hours via means of yanking the batteries. They were more work than RL pets and a lot less loving.

Furby: See Tamagotchi, except this was both a farce and a lot creepy.

Sims: Mine usually die one of three ways, death by electrocution, death by fire and death by drowning. Two died to the Guinea Pig Plague and one to insanity/starvation. (Her own fault, she was more interested in cleaning the table off than in actually EATING.)

If Avatars were to require food/sleeping.. would there also be a graveyard, because mine would surely be the first to go there?

i actually kept my tama alive for a whole month...yeah i know sad...
Furbys=gremlins just before the midnight feeding and bath
neve rhad a creature....
admit it, You killed Your Sims just to watch them die.....:p

Yes. Choose a Paris Hilton avatar. Or a Tom Cruise. If you choose the latter, avoid socializing with the Paris avs. (Personally, I would recommend looking for Beyonce avs, but that's me.)

*tries to look innocent and fails* Well.. it wasn't to watch them die. I wanted to see if they would come back as ghosts. Well, with the exception of the one that did honestly die of insanity/starvation, which I had planned to kill off via cooking... She did die on her own and she did come back as a ghost anyways. I honestly kept trying to get her to cook SOMETHING, but she kept changing her mind mid-way as I was dealing with the others.

Besides, half the fun of Sims is seeing how many ways you can kill 'em off. The other half is in building and creating the sims.

Wouldn't it be cool (and good for the economy) if our avs were like the people in The Sims, where they get hungry and tired and such? I think it would be fun! What do other people think?

Like, we could have restaurants, and waiters, and stuff. For our furry avs, we could have farmers or ranchers that grow sheep to eat (or whatever...) Just a thought!

I think it would be fun, kind of like a "game" aspect.

But if this ever happened i`d like it to be optional as I would not always feel like feeding 2 "me`s"

That idea makes no sense at all in the context of what Second Life actually is...

You could do this,

buy your own sim and everyone who lives there has to wear your hud,

a game within a game,

call it 3rd life!!!

I have a hard enough time eating right in real life somedays when I play too much Second Life. Im not sure I could handle the responsibilty of keeping the virtual me fed, too.
