Wouldn't it be cool (and good for the economy) if our avs were like the people in The Sims, where they get hungry and tired and such? I think it would be fun! What do other people think?

Like, we could have restaurants, and waiters, and stuff. For our furry avs, we could have farmers or ranchers that grow sheep to eat (or whatever...) Just a thought!

So sort this out for me. We could already do this if we want, but we want SL to enforce this on everyone else why?

You asked what other people thought....well they are telling you.:p

This was discussed awhile ago, and was not received to well back then either.
My Vote: Nyet.

This thread reminds me of Grand Theft Auto. Before the release of GTA: San Andreas, it was learned that your character was going to have to eat (as well as work-out to stay fit). People went ballistic and hated the idea. They did keep it as part of the game, but it wasn't too bad in my opinion. It was only once in a while you had to eat and, even then, there was some leeway for when you really needed to *right now*. Certainly not every 20 minutes. It was only a mild annoyance.

Personally, I wouldn't want this part of Second Life. I think it would be best to make (or have made) a scripted attachment that kept track of food intake, fatigue, and whatever else you'd like. Perhaps some other people may be interested as well.

This would be forcing a place in the economy for people that make prim food. Artificial market creation doesn't sound like it would help any.

What would we do for the months before people started up restaurants? Whole teams of avs would go hungry. The population would drop to only 2 million!

Although, this would solve some of our other problems!

If they do that then everyone should be able to be shot and killed and drown and die from falling from high altitudes. I'd be down for that!

Having to interrupt one's pixelsex session to eat a sandwhich would totally ruin the economy.

There is already an MMORPG like that. I have been there, and it is really, really immersive. It is called RL.

Someone needs to release a 'Hungry/Sleepy' HUD ;)

Wear it, and it shows you how 'hungry' and 'sleepy' you are.

To eat: Click on scritped 'protien packs' (available for purchase in a variety of flavors)

To sleep: Right-click & sit on the scripted 'magic bed' (sold seperately)

There's your buisness model...... somebody run with it! :D

The reaction to the OP's question isn't surprising. Many of us immigrated from "that place". We all enjoy never having to eat, sleep or pee. Its a good think you didn't bring up Pizza, Code or bashing pinatas.

BTW, the Hermoine Method of solving code is stupid. :D

Sign-up is involuntary. And it is a long, long time before they will accept your credit card. Better hope you get good mentors at the start, and land at a well-supplied and -financed Infohub.

But I'm warning you: It is REALLY immersive....

You might want to stay in SL.

I like the sentiment. It would give more purpose to the kitchens most people have which is currently just used for sex.

Oh, this is a great idea. If the person doing this was smart, they would work out a commision system for food creators for food or beds, etc that will work with their hud. They already have this for a pregnant avatar in many of huds they HUDS they use, but most keep it optional. I've heard that the one clinic that had this as a mandatory for a healthy SL pregnancy, had probs with this and ultimately removed the risk of miscarriage due to lack of food or rest from their HUD. Still as an OPTIONAL thing it would sell, so long as it wasn't so expensive and was marketed right.

*grins* Okay, lets cover my track record with (edit) virtual things that require 'feeding' and 'sleeping' to survive.

Creatures 1-3: They'd die within a couple of hours, depending on what version of the game. Creatures 3 norns usually did die within five to six hours, but Creatures 2 norns died in one hour. Often, they'd die due to 'culling of the herd,' where I've bred them and now, it's bye-bye. The few I allowed to die of old age were the teachers of the young.

Tamagotchi: I killed them almost within 5 hours via means of yanking the batteries. They were more work than RL pets and a lot less loving.

Furby: See Tamagotchi, except this was both a farce and a lot creepy.

Sims: Mine usually die one of three ways, death by electrocution, death by fire and death by drowning. Two died to the Guinea Pig Plague and one to insanity/starvation. (Her own fault, she was more interested in cleaning the table off than in actually EATING.)

If Avatars were to require food/sleeping.. would there also be a graveyard, because mine would surely be the first to go there?
