Is it just me, or does a site like the one in this discussion really prove the stupidity of the people involved?
I mean, really. Trying to fool a few people who know little to nothing about computers is one thing, but there are thousands of SL users who are very very very good with computers, programming, etc, etc. *points to the information the few on this thread have pulled on the site* The resources of the Residents of SL are quite vast. People from all over the world and of all levels of expertise and skills. Trying a "snake oil salesman" scam is one of the dumber things a person could try. Here's hoping LL's lawyers take them to the cleaners. *notifies 'Bubba' he may be getting a new playmate for a few months* ~Jessy P.S. A salute to those that pulled the information and sent it to LL. Nice to see Residents policing our world and looking out for it and the people. Thank you. _____________________

wtg Broccoli, glad You guys are on top of stuff like this. bet by friday a thread will be posted by one who went there and now cant log in Stratics, as a network (covering over 40 of today's top online games) takes the issue of cheating very, very seriously. There is a strictly enforced, blanket ban on any posts anywhere that link to a site that promotes something that breaks that game's terms of service, such as WoW powerlevelling or gold sales. Obviously, with Second Life, exchanging real money for game money is not only permitted but actually encouraged as part of the overall strategy - but we are only too glad to help. If the original post here had actually been on Stratics, we would have removed it and probably issued a warning (official or otherwise, depending on the intention of the person and how they worded the post) but I don't know what the rules are over here. Rather than sharing the link, and risking other players downloading the stuff it's probably better to email the information directly to the game company. Education is, however, always a good thing - and we'd probably have posted it as a news/warning (as I did) giving details of the offer and the dangers, without actually giving the URL so people would be aware if they came across it. The 'fast talker' program is ahkey.exe, upon executing it the licence is GNU GPL, I'm sure they are breaking terms of the license somewhere

I did a little research, the file that the 'item duplicator' points to is tsearch_16.zip, which seems to me to be a freely available hex editor to edit locally stored files, basically to hack items or files for games that store info client-side, which of couse SL does not.
Think its worthwhile to report this to thier webhost, or just let LL (hopefully) take care of it? _____________________
