Well theres been prim duplicators for a couple years. Scripted tools that copy objects. I dont remember whether they were outlawed/made unfunctional or not.
And theres the copybots? - which I believe are hampered? So I suppose it could be one of those two things. |

Well, that's the most obvious scam I've seen lately...
...all their banners and graphics come straight from the official site, but with no mention of an 'SL is copyright Linden Lab' disclaimer; someone will be getting shut down soon...(I also like the fact they didn't even bother to change the password-entering screenshots from the ringtiones website they ripped them from...A little effort always shows, eh?). Incidentally, clicking the 'enter your cell number' button funnels you to a totally unrelated survey page, with no more mention of SL. So; I imagine these 'Second Life Cheaters' will be making a nice coin from affiliate referrals to the survey. Anything to get those clicks, eh? That's how maildrops work; you don't need everyone to be daft enough to fall for it...just enough people to make it profitable. |

if you go to http://www.ringtonechannel.com/ you will find the 'secret code word' is RESERVED.
entering that code takes you to a page where you download a super basic newbie manual and a couple of junk exe's. the duplicator download is a 404. the only people getting cheated are the ones buying this sham. |

What's the betting this is a version of the old scam that grabs your login details, then you find your SL account blank next time you log in, and possibly your account/password details stolen?
Anyone falling for this crap deserves all they get. I have no sympathy for cheaters and 'get rich quick' schemes like this. If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is - as well as a severe violation of the Second Life terms of service and the whole spirit of content creation. Broccoli _____________________

A little effort always shows, eh?). That's the key words when dealing with the lazy scam artist.. As little effort as possible for as much gain. They probably don't even see the risks. A clever con artist knows the risk and will take care to prevent it from hitting them, if they are ever 'caught.' Mostly, the work to keep from being caught seems pretty pointless, because it'd be easier to just do things legally  Oh, that one does sniff of scam. Thanks for posting it! _____________________

What got me in the site is this:
"Please Note: The use of such programs may be against the game rules. If you get caught using one of these programs you may have your account banned. We are not resposible for any such actions if you use these programs! Use at your own risk. " That enough should give people with half a brain cell enough of a warning to avoid like the plague. My guess is that the .exe programs are trojans/keyloggers. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THESE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES IF YOU VALUE YOUR SL ACCOUNT AND COMPUTER'S INTEGRITY! The guide is a load of crap too, and "with over 160,000 accounts" is clearly a few weeks out of date too. The 'item dupe' just dumps you to a junk website ... so it's all just a scam without a doubt. I've alerted Linden Lab already and sent the WHOIS data too. Now to find the host's email address to get them to take it all down. Broccoli _____________________
