Just when you think the world has gone to the crapper, some one goes and does something sweet and wonderful and kind and generous to make you smile. My sister told me that she was in line to go in to some store the other day, there was a lady standing near them just shivering cold. so she gave her her gloves. that was a random act of kindness. yesterday, someone in our forums read that my budget was so tight i couldn't afford the cosmetic surgery a new wig in SL could provide, so she gifted me a hefty wad so i could go guy that hair. OMG! was a totally random act of kindness. that was so sweet and generous and appreciated. what a treasure she is! i don't know if this person wants me to name her, so i won't unless she agrees, but i wanted to thank you publicly. you are amazing! how does this tie in to SL? well, here's the question (request really): What deeds of good gesture have you bestowed upon others in SL, randomly, or them you? i am anxious to hear about all these kind and generous acts. tis the season!

Just a little thing...last night, a newbie was talking in group chat about using people's houses to change clothes in, and how she hadn't realized they were private property for quite some time. I sent her an IM, a LM to my house, and an invitation to use it to change whenever she wanted.
And in the other direction...a few weeks ago I bought some palm trees and turtles and things from Ee Oh's beachfront "store". About an hour later, he sent me, unasked, a bunch of other items, about as much again as I had purchased. Wow!

I've dramatically cut back on snarky posts to the forums and I don't go out much in-world so I've got a virtually zero record of annoying folk!
For the time being.

People can be kind, I am often encouraged. Don't want to go all religious, but there is some text that is important to me, that reads "If you can help your brother, today, you should do so, not say I will do it tomorrow, because tomorrow isn't promised to you. " (summary, not a direct quote or anything). Sometimes, you can just luck up on a situation where you could make someone smile by the smallest of gestures. I'm glad you are getting your hair, 3Ring. Sometimes, random kindness can just happen in your own backyard, don't even have to go looking for it.

I give away lots of free advice in SL - not just during the holiday season - for which my rl clients have to pay £200/hour.
Pep (But I have realised that people don't appreciate what they get for nothing - except money.)

I have dropped cash on a few folks inworld, though I must admit that lately I have not been paying as much attention to posts and therefore others' situations, nor been out and about as much to run into newbs.

Good post~! I've shared my home & land to new folks .... met one of my best friends when I new girl landed in my yard and I told her she could use my land as a base camp until she got comfortable with SL. I give a lot of stuff away.....things I don't use any more.....skins & shapes I make....I just don't see the point in being selfish. I'll lend L's when I have em to spare.....again.....I just don't see any reason not too.....big deal....it translates to maybe a couple dollars....I like to make people happy. When I started out in SL a very very nice woman gave me 2000L to go shopping....I have tried to pay it forward ever since. I've had friends give me cool stuff...one of my dearest pals actually bought me an entire lioness avatar.....that was so cool! I'm not much into walking around on all 4s......but I was pretty startled and touched that he did that for me. Kindness renews my faith in humanity.....and with all the other crap going on in the world.....i very much trasure the kindnesses....both giving & receiving.

And Miilla once gave me free male and female shapes for Virtual Ability/Cape Able newbies to have free. Those have gotten and are still getting much use. I'm grateful for that, Milla!

I have had a public skybox thingy for anyone to use ostensibly as a dressing room, but it could be used for whatever reason with a 2 hour return time, at my parcels since I first got them. One of them gets quite a bit of traffic - and heck, I'm almost never there other than to tidy up once in a while.
I also used to donate regularly to the NCI newbie free money globe, but I think it got taken down. Perhaps it was being abused. I still donate to NCI - actually I'm long overdue.
A week or so ago I was introduced to a much wider world of SL art opportunities by a resident well known in these parts. I was quite touched. More on that later perhaps.

Someone thanked me for my money tree recently, rather than just taking and someone thanked me for putting a checkers table in my park, both of which were much appreciated.

Many people have been kind to me in SL. I was offered the free use of skyboxes and sky-platforms; Rime Wirsing lets me use one of his boats (am offer I believe he has now extended to anyone - so there's another act of kindness); I've been given clothing and objects by various people; and lots of advice.
Kindness isn't rare in SL, I'm very, very glad to say.

I didn't shout at Sling during the last bots thread, and when I met her, I actually spoke to her. It doesn't get any kinder than that

I would like to go on record as stating the that two most generous men I have ever met in SL are Chris Norse and Raymond Figtree. I'll never find another home like Ray's Liome, and Chris is always ready to help friends and strangers in need.
For myself, Karas Trust rents out (not so many now!) old continent parcels at a loss. We just want folks there that will use them and not abuse them. It was our crusade to renovate the "old" world.
We also sent out "bonuses" to all of our renters when we made a profit on a land swap or sale. Not doing that now, since we have pretty much abandoned expansion due to the new realities of mainland "real" estate.

Very interesting word play on about 5 levels at once. Signature worthy. Here's another one I will never forget. Another resident prominent in these forums gifted me a prototype of a very nice and complicated build she was working on. I'm sure she has done the same for many of you too. It's a lovely item and I will never forget that kindness.

Pep (But I have realised that people don't appreciate what they get for nothing - except money.) If I remember correctly Pep, over the last few years you have always given out kindness in the forums during the holiday season.

I just wanted to say how inspiring this thread has been. There are so many kind people in the world.
If...*sniff*... if only there was some way for me to afford the surgery needed to fix my broken pixels... I might survive another day.
The doctors say it will cost $1,000,000 Lindens. I don't know how I'll ever be able to scrape up that kind of money.
But it's been a good life.
Good-bye all.
I'll always remember you.
(Send your donations to Alvaro Zapatero. I'll make sure the Broken Pixel Foundation gets them.)

I'd like to publicly thank those who are donating for something special I have coming up. I don't want to just make a list of names, though; there are too many and I plan to put up a plaque (as soon as I can figure out how to make a decent-looking one!) with names on the property. But, some things stand out - one person who I had asked if she'd be interested in making item donations, and I'd have been thrilled to get one of the things she had for gifts in her advent calendar at her shop - just kept sending, and sending, and sending things until I felt like fainting. I mean THAT is giving...til it hurts! My head was swimming...! And just everyone who responded at all but also who responded with a yes! Some places did not respond, or fizzled out...but many, even most, said yes, they'd love to help out. That was wonderful! I can't say too much since it is sitll upcoming and am trying to keep it as much a surprise as I still can...All I can say is, come by my place on the 25th! And a HUGE thank you to Qie Niangao, who sold me the property at a more than fair price to begin with but since that has been a never ending fountain of help and work and just completely selfless! Thanks to him I can help others so much better! Thank you Qie!!

Qie owns the parcel next to mine on Zindra. I always appreciate his insight here in the forums, and hope to meet him in world some day. Hey, I did finally encounter Sling down in Jessie. She did not shoot me.

I like to grab Noobs by the hand and gently lead them astray. Kidding, sorta. Spent many an hour on a sandbox explaining the same thing over and over again with as much patience as I can because even now after all this time I can still remember feeling lost and confused. I've also got 2 folders in my invent, 1 for male 1 for female. Not stuffed with crap but a few pieces of goodish stuff and easy peasy notes on the basics.
And if the money allows it then I still donate to places where the creators have really made an effort..and the occasional Money Tree although these seemed to have disapeared now.
Although I must confess that naked Noob in the shop with a prim box attached to his groin was beyond even my help.
