I'd like to ask why this doesn't merit a rolling restart

Even though they didn't use the term, it sounds like they are (or will soon be) doing a rolling restart.

Isn't that basically what they said they were doing?

Mainland regions will be restarted over the next few hours to resolve this issue.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Apparently only onthe mainland? It looks ike private islands (all 8000+ of them) have to be rrestareted by the sim owners from the way it's written.

SO I guess now you can rez things on the mainland but not on private sims or there's a chance you'll STILL lose it.

I sure hope not but, that could not have been worded any worse if it's not the case...

LQQK everyone - there's at least one plus side to owning on the mainland.

LL is also restarting estate sims. I was just on one that they restarted.

Don't worry it'll still be as laggy after the restart.

I think they edited that part of the blog post to clarify. It now says:

##
Private Region owners and Estate Managers can feel free to restart their own region(s) for this resolution to take effect sooner. Mainland regions and private estates (even those which were restarted earlier) will be restarted over the next few hours to resolve this issue.##

Note: "Mainland regions and private estates (even those which were restarted earlier) will be restarted over the next few hours ..."

So they'll be restarting everything, they were just giving private owers the option to go ahead and do it sooner.

WOW

I was cleaning my inventory and was tossing stuff into a box. I locked up and restarted the game. The items are not in my inventory and the box is gone, nowhere to be seen.

all I can say is WOW.

I think 'irresponsible' is the perfect word for these current inventory issues. It would apply to anyone else that allowed your assets to disappear through their failings and it applies to them. It's more than 'not good enough', it's absolutely dumbfounding. And yes, I've also lost items on land that I had specific permission to rez on. Unbelievable, I'm staggered that it even gets as far as having a debate on it. And the "can't reimburse you" for items lost...well, how can you be more totally dumbfounded than 'completely'?
