Grid Shut Down?

Is anyone else being shut out of SL? I see the population is falling - which is never a good sign. Anyone out there?? I couldnt get onto the Resident Answers for a while ... hello? ... Anyone? ...

I can't log in......no so important anyway, since I was trapped home and no tp working.

I experienced this for about an hour, but i just saw the population rising again, tried again, and got in... however, no linden balance, no search. I can't even view a profile.

Seriously borked.

I'm on the grid, but I can't teleport anywhere. =/

I can get in but not much is working. My money stays at loading, can't teleport, can't search, can't upload textures, can't load the map, in fact hardly worth being in there

had failures to login as well over the last half hour, just kept trying and eventually got back in world.

No real point to that, however - You can't spend/receive L$, teleport, or search for anything.

Last update from LL about 2 hours ago, nothing since.

We are experiencing gridwide issues at the moment. Resident may experience slowdowns or failures of search, mapping, teleporting and asset operations. Inworld L$ balances may show as Loading…

Ops is working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible, in the meantime please avoid making any inworld transactions or operations on no-copy assets.

Been having problems logging in since friday, I frequently get the "DNS could not resolve host name" error message. LL told me in response to a ticket I filed that they've been getting those messages a lot from Germany but it's not something they can do anything about, and the issue should be resolved by now anyway.

Guess what, it's not. Still can't log in. Contacted my provider and they know nothing about a DNS failure or such. One guy I spoke to suggested that maybe one of the servers LL uses might have been blacklisted, but has so far no confirmation of that.

By now, I am pretty angry. Is it too much to ask that LL at least inform their customers if there are known issues? And, 'scuse me, if they've been getting a lot of these reports from Germany, it IS a known issue.

So, anyone else who does have a clue what's up?

Can't get the map to load.

OMG!! It's almost like RL!!!!!!

Ok I admit it ... its my fault

As I havnt been there..... theres been no reason for LL to keep a service running.

On a serious note .... its a farse, obviously something has happened for this to occur.

Strange though as theres proberly less users and the service has gone all to pot.

Something did happen... they rolled out voice on the Beta Grid.

They indeed can't because that one is provider-related. Setting two fixed DNS servers sould solve it. And yes, I thought it had been resolved, since I went back to automatic address allocation yesterday night. It depends on your provider, I guess.

There must have been some change in LL DNS and some providers are having a hard time keeping up with it.

awwww noooooooo it gets worse .. i had no internet for 4 days cos of tecky issues .. ive been desperate to get back .. worried about my sl business and if my campers had skint me .. to find out i needed have worried nobody can do anything anyways!!! marty you been passing round that virus again lmoa .. bet you mail spammed sl and thats why it fell over pmsl

The purpose of my OP was to note the cause of the Grid Problems and not who is reponsible for them.

It's been this way since around 9pm SLT yesterday night. Oh well.

I am locked into the last area I was in, cannot tp, cannot access funds and friend's list isn't showing.....is this happening to many or just a few, cuz gotta tell you, I am losing interest fast.

The is happening to *everyone*.

Best to just pop in a movie and log out for a while, in a few hours here west coast USA time it'll be business hours and I suspect the issues will be resolved quickly.

If you really must be on the grid right now, you can teleport, in a manner of speaking.

Open the landmark you want to teleport to, and find it's region and cords. (Example: Strata, 150, 100, 50) and build a SLURL out of it. Log out of second life. Put the SLURL into your web browser, and when it loads click "Teleport now!" -- your SL client will open. Click login, and presto, you are in the area you wanted to be in!

You can't spend or get any L$ while you are there, but at least you moved.

I'm used to my FL not showing me who's online, now it doesn't even list peoples' names. It's impossible even to IM someone.

Hmmmm... L$ balance is 'loading'. That'll keep itfrom burning a hole in my pocket today! Map search is intermittent. Profile not loading. Friends list seems to be loading. Teleport seems to be out of the question. Worse has happened before. It'll pick up again.. the sooner the better.

It's over one hour now (AGAIN!) that I can't log in. Despite our best efforts something unexpected has gone wrong....yeah, right!!!

I have these problems since Friday...things went pretty well yesterday but hey, I am SO sick of not being able to log in.

LL support told me that I should be able to log in- oh wow, what a big help!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been trying for at least four hours today, but hey, at least now I know I'm not alone. Yay...?

got to say .... me and Cordelia have been without internet since friday .... and by the looks of things, for us .... it couldnt have happened at a better time.

I thought everything was running pretty well yesterday..Then it happend!! This blue drop down message from the lindens saying everything was back to normal and all issues or something like that were fixed..

soon as i saw that message is when i noticed things starting to go wrong..transactions stopped ,lindens still loading,TP's down and hmm i know there is more i just can't remember them all hehe..

i think after pulling all the scripts from all the casinos and all the gamblers and sploders and things it has messed up the SL ecco system!!!
we are trapped in a slow implosion that is going to crush us in the most painful.................ok i better stop hehehe..it's just really bad in here is all..about the only thing working for me is logins
