Thanks for the feedback, 3Ring. Holy Quantum Leap, were you using the Starship Enterprise or something? Talk about warp factor 9 to get around all that lot!

yw. i wrote what i thought as i thought it. you have seen in to my mind. LOL
From: someone
Prices are low, yes, because nobody was buying at higher prices.

maybe it's the location, and not the product that's holding you back.
From: someone
They're all original items (and thank you for drawing my attention to the fact that people may think they're resell because of the low prices; I'll put an info board or notecard in the store to inform people they are all original creations).

RAISE YOUR PRICES! :p
From: someone
The feature item is actually in the store opposite. I'm in the process of planning a rebuild of the mall to use less prims (yay for the new megaprims!) but the standout item is the Gentleman's Study build. I'm in Photoshop as I type this, putting together a 'more items this way' sign for the main store that will point toward the featured item, though.

i glanced that way and thought it was very pretty. but, i think you would be better to have it all in one big store... can you raise the floor and link the floors of both booths so they become 'one' store location? i bet that would make a HUGE difference right away. then you could use that wall space as well... which would be perfect for larger ad boxes.

also, i don't see any raeson why you can't have a featured item in the booth i was critiquing as well. just not the stained glass fireplace. in fact, if i were you i would quit selling those. i want to have the only one in SL. >;)
From: someone
Picture size. Hm. I do see what you mean. I *would* have to move the images around if I enlarged the ad boards, which would mean they would fill the walls from ceiling to floor. I'll try it out on a mockup of the store elsewhere and see how it looks.

well, i would not suggest making your ads go all the way to the ceiling. but if you make them bigger, you can put them just off the floor and just away from each other, and then the one above will still begin at eye level.[/QUOTE]
you make really great stuff. i might have to go back and get that arrrbor! LOL

finally, i can do this review thingy. this is just MY opinion, so don't put any real weight to it. i am very picky, and don't part with L$ easily. i tend to veer towards unusual and original items vs. the same ol same ol on every mall corner. so i am reviewing the set ups of the shops (advertising is the point of this thread), not the items themselves, unless something really stands out. i have no business critiquing anyone else's creations, as i am not a professional... and, i'm just another set of eyes in the fora like everyone else. i make no claim to knowing everything, or even anything. i can only comment from my own perspective.

also, i gave each store no more than 3 minutes of browsing. this is from the 'TP in' perspective, my initial reaction and feeling of the place - which i am writing while i am standing in the stores, as i experience it.

if i missed your store, and you WANT me to go peek and give you my opinon of your stores atmosphere, please jsut ask.

ok, here goes:

Love the plants outside when I TP to the store. nice big pictures. some a little high, but they are framed so beautifully, i WANT to cam and see what you have. really terrific stuff! and your whole sets have so few prims overall, i think you could totally advertise as low prim furniture. there is a mood in your store, and it reminds me of a Japanese theme, which i am partial too. it is very warm and inviting and i think you have done a great job. at first i wasn't sure about the placement of the rugs, but it's growing on me. if you can spare the prims, it'd be wonderful to see a sample or two placed under the Abbey and Apple ads. your logo on each ad is very subtle, and the frames totally make the ad! good work! no lag.
=(

WOW!! That has truly just made my day, my whole SL week actually as I really have not had a decent sale since I re-opened, but your words just made me feel so much better.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my store, I feel very proud of what i have acheived so far, even more so now when someone else says "good job" :)

If I have missed anyone elses opinion, I apologize, i am trying to get so much done today, I am going through this thread again, bit by bit.

Again, thank you 3Ring! I really appreciate your honesty!

/me runs back to RL now with a cheesy grin

Looking at your choice of colors... I'd be tempted to add a very mild brushed bronze gradient to the overall surface... And the bottom one with the objects in it is really nice. (^_^)y

here's a good example of a similar design to what you are making. the way the items and text are spread throughout is much more appealing than a heavy ended logo. the colors are good Mox, but the text is blurry and the letters are hard to read.

This is an excellent idea for a thread! I will also take a trip to explore some of the places mentioned and give a critique. I think that by all reviewing each other like this we can also all learn a lot :-)

It is lovely (and refreshing) to see people being so positive and constructive in their criticisms too.

If anyone wants to check out my store they are most welcome - however please be warned that it is now three sims of stuff - and 99% of what you see it for sale, heh. I have just added the trees and plants (Tin Teddy Gardens) and they are selling quite well - I am not really sure how to get my name out on them more though.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

*saddles up and prepares to go look at all the interesting sounding stores..........*

TP'd in to your garden center. very pretty. it feels like a park, and not at all like a store. stuff is all pretty for away from each other, so if your goal is to sell things, you might want to get them closer to the Pot Shop. you have done a magnificant job of decorating the area. every tree, bush and plant is fabulous. i didn't understand the upstairs of the Pot Shop completely, but it looks like you are still working on that. but it feels much less like a store and more much like a park that someone decided to randomly sell things in.

next i went to Elgyfu's Emporium. that sat me right in front of a TP board, which is a great idea. loved your textures and the overall feel of the place. went for a ride to Egypt. LOL super cool entrance, with those statues out front. inside? WOW! neat. cool. i felt like i was a 3D character in the game of Runescape (which isn't egyptian, but medieval... but that's what popped in to my mind). i have to say... the mini house to show what the real house will look like? i've never seen that done before, and i think that is a GREAT idea. info right there on the wall. good price. i'm impressed. OOH! i need that Bast - Golden - On Plinth, but i'm low on cash. i'l be back for that. i would totally buy that. very nice, quality items you have for sale. ok, so i'm raedy for your next store...... =( no Teleport board. so, back to your picks (put a TP board everywhere!!!).

TP'd in to the prefabs store, and lo-and-behold if there are slews of those little mock ups. *applause* a lot of your wall ads are too high up, and i personally hate having to use to hands to shop (camming). i like to just use the view that SL has offered, and i usually bypass things i can't see immediately. also, you couls make your wall items a tad bigger, since you have so much open space. someone tell Mari there is a Jigsaw Playhouse here. very cute, for kids. that's a pretty big store floorplan, so i walked n walked. but, there is so much variety, i was afraid not to, because i didn't want to miss that "one thing" that might catch my eye. so that technique works to keep someone in the store. you make everthing from homes to plant life to animations and AO's to skins to clothing. this place has it all, folks. one stop shopping. =D outside where i started, a Gypsy Caravan. very fun! i noticed a mall under construction. great atmosphere. i like your place so much, i'd want to rent there.

overall, i think the way you have things set up works... certainly the textures are fabulous and the theme is fun. except for some random grouping, i like the way it's laid out. i'd like to see a TP board on every sim. and maybe group those garden items closer together so people know to go buy them. they're sort of hidden which might be why sales are slow.

call me when that mall is raedy. =D

ok the rest of my thoughts on FASHIONITY FANTASY, then I'm off for a well deserved nap (Gramma has partied me under the table again)

In my previous post I talked about the beauty of the courtyard, the fountains, the store...all are so beautiful. Flower arrangements placed just so, beautiful stairway ramps, all in all a beautiful build.

The product is nice as well, a wide selection of beautiful dresses and outfits. Someone had mentioned they had a little trouble finding things, but I didn't have any trouble. The wing to the left is formal/bridal, the wing to the right is casual/sporty. There are big signs outside each area stating what is inside.

The product displays are beautiful. The whole place is like walking through a museum. The models rezzed fine for me, and are a nice touch imo.

I only had 3 problems with the whole place really. The first was flicker...you should talk to whoever did the build for you (no offense intended if you did it yourself but I tend to think if you had, you would have fixed the flicker by now). There are several spots where you have flicker, and I gotta say flicker is a big turnoff for me (I don't even know why lol....my partner loves to fly around my shop and say FLICKER! and I go screaming to the spot armed with a can of bug spray and prim aligner).

The second problem I had was with permissions. They aren't stated anywhere, you actually have to select 'buy' and look at the item when it comes up. And it keeps coming up no mod/no copy. Now I am not sure if you have the items boxed inside the box and the inside box is the permissions I am seeing (if you can sort out what I mean by that) or if it is the product itself that is no mod/no copy, but it would be enough to put me off from buying that beautiful gown. I want to be able to modify it if needed and to make a copy before I do in case of mistakes. If you do allow copy/mod on the actual items, you might want to consider selling them in folders rather than boxed, so that people can see them.

Third thing was, you produce a beautiful and high end product. I would have expected to see some demos of the more expensive stuff.

Thats it, lol big commentary for a big and beautiful shop!

Hmmm.. I don't know what can I reply to this ... Ok I will try to be smart and correct.
<snip>

Anyway, thks you for the time you was in my sim.

I only say it the way "I" see it, that doesn't mean others see it that way
sure my view was not all flowers and nice, but isn't that what actually helps us

my draw is at 64 (minimum) so take into consideration how many others might be at minimum draw as well
I was not there to review the sim, only the store.

I am sorry you feel offended, however if one puts a request out to the general public for reviews one has to be prepared for something they might not like to see in said reviews
not everyone will love it, or think it is awesome

oh and I am not looking for space (I noticed you mentioned that with the impression that I may be looking for a store space)

First thank you so much for visiting, and for the lovely comments about my product!

You are 100% correct about the large ads, they are large because I have a lack of content (something that will change over time hehe) and I try to spread what I have out so it looks like I have more. Guilty! hehe

It is a bit hard to know just how to price a product, especially being a new designer and not having made a name for myself. What I do is research products on venues like SLeX and look at what similar items are going for. With the jackets, I looked at other hand-drawn ones (there is a plethora of photosourced jackets out there but not a huge number of hand-drawn). I look at those prices, and then price my own product (much lower of course, as the ones out there are from well known designers who can command a higher price for their product). Typically I don't like to talk about a particular product of mine in this forum, because I wouldn't want anyone to think I was using the thread to promote a product...but I will defend the pricing on those jackets :) There are two jackets in each box, not just one. One is a regular closed jacket, and the other is the same jacket with an open front. And when it comes down to it, the market pretty much determines the price, that being said, I have sold SEVERAL of these jackets...in fact, more of them in the last 2 weeks than all my product combined in the 2 months before!

We have picked up another small piece of land next to my shop, and in a few weeks we will be doing a redesign. The formal wear and the biker wear will be in 2 separate shops, because they are so vastly different. But first, I'm going to relax a bit and draw somethin pretty :)

I know the feeling about pricing, that is my hardest part
that and naming the items/outfits heh

I would be interested in seeing the redo when you do it

just a few more general comments
first... I agree with the a fore mentioned comment about "don't get offended, it could cause others to be less than honest, or cause ppl to not want to do a review"

honestly if I had known that someone would be angry because I put out a review of how I see their place, when they asked for general reviews, I would not have spent the time to do it.

on the note of reviews, skell, maybe in the merchant page put a notice of if folks want reviews or not. (also if they want public or private reviews) some folks may not want the criticism out to the general public and would prefer a notecard dropped on them.

for me, to start it out, I want reviews, bad/good/neutral, it is all good to me, as it helps me see things the way others do, and public reviews are acceptable as well

oh and speaking of reviews, I would love to see skell review of my store (if you can forgive me for thinking you were female) *embarrassed*

um.. there was more comments but they just slipped my mind heh

TP'd right in to the middle of the store, so i just stood there and did a 360* spin. your stuff is nice and low, so i could see everything. i like the way you have tiers for displaying items. very pleasant. organized, grouped nicely. i am all about the freebie, so i decided to walk the premises. i saw that you had some rezzers out, but when i clikced them nothing rezzed. i only saw the aqua hover text. it worked for the shoes though, and i found that a clever approach. NEW items featured. =D very clean design for a store with a lot of product. since you could afford the prims, i love that your items are out and 3D and not just boxed. very nice. good background decor. a little slow to rez, but no lag.

Thank you for that review. I like having people tp into the middle cause then you cant get lost, lol. I get lost a lot and frustrated so I give up and go to the next. I will check the rezzers, stupid rezzors i dont like them much but I have been lazy about putting them into the hippo vendors :) I am very lucky that my friend who owns the sim allows me to have free range, I do feel guilty though and thats why i want to do well so I can give something back to her :) I love being able to put my stuff out, I love tangible, well sl tangible even. Especially since most of my things have poses. I like people to try them out before they buy. I love that I have the space, but im designing more things to put out now and unsure whether to redesign my building or add another floor. Comments would be much welcomed. I have another smaller store that has just vendors, but it has a teleport to the "showroom" so people can see it all out. Its an ongoing discussion with my partner lol.

Im glad there was no lag, i try and keep my textures high rez but smaller in file size. I also try and make everything I do low Prim.

Freebies, mmm i did have some out when we had our treasure hunt, but took them back in. I think i need to make something unique to put in there. Any comments on that is welcome too.

Thank you again for your time and your comments. :)

i like the new item featured before i even get in to the store. it's pretty stark out there though, and i would love to see a little plant life or something to soften it up a bit. besides that, honestly, i would change nothing. i knew exactly what was for sale, the ads weer crisp and clean, the prices were obvious for the most part.. you even organized by price in the first part. very calming environment. your logo approach is great. so you don't have to clutter up all your ads. good idea (thanks). if you can spare the prims, it'd be great to see one or two items rezzed and on a display column or something. and maybe an original teddy or something strewn about to messy it up a bit. very well done. no lag.

/me giggles.... plant life with the concrete and paint?? Hmmmm not sue about that but SOMETHING out in that space might be nice :) I will have to think on what would loook good out there.

Ohhh and i can spare the prims for once. And I love the idea of 'messing it up a bit'. I get bored with perfect stores with everything so right. Thats why I love my paint. Im messy and proud of it hhehehe.

Hehehehe I didnt realise I had arranged things by price. This wasnt deliberate, just a coincidence.

Ohh and actually my group joiner hat is one of my caps :)

Anyway thanskfor the review :) I will definately mess up the inside a bit and find something for the outside

i would say... if i take a freebie and like it, i usually buy something from that same store.

i would say a 2nd floor is in order. just make sure you group like items.. ie: bedroom stuff together, living room stuff together, outdoor stuff together.. etc.

you make nice things. sorry i couldn't get the rezzors to work. i have some i'm trying to use but i find it complicated and i don't want to spend the time, so i totally understand your position on that. LOL

well..... i was thinking to maybe put it in a pot or planter box or something original and clever.... but plants soften hard edges. LOLOL

re: the messing up a bit.... it felt so homey and i expected to see a teddy bear or stuffed animal or some magazines or something haphazardly placed... well choreographed placement, of course. ;)

please let me know when, cuz i wanna come back and see wut you came up with.

P.S. i always keep my draw at 64m as well....

ooh Moxz, it's really looking smart now! :D i love the gradient text, but i think it should be more lighter colors throughout, so it raelly shows. i'm sure if you go lighter it'll be pink, but maybe a salmon or beige or light yellow will look good.... but stick with that, it looks great! fab fab fab

i know the pic in the middle is a tiered table with candles, but i can't figure out what the other two are. i'm sorry. :(

the rest tells me you sell things that feature nicely grained wood products. ... at least, that's wut i would expect in your store strictly by viewing your logo.

i hope i am being helpful and not negative. i like the direction you are headed.... a lot!!!

same here
usually if a place is beyond my draw distance (unless it is a place I already am familiar with) I usually just teleport out

each person is different and that is what makes it hard to please the masses

we all use different settings, prefer different things, see things differently, some things might bother one, and be totally admired by another...

I just thought of a name for mox's stuff

Mox-Z-Furnishings (assuming you only do furniture)

if you do other stuff, could call it Mox-Z-Designs

I like the way it sounds in my head, separated out like that :)

good luck with the logo

Hehe thanks 3 :) The object on the left is a coffee table, the candles in the middle actually sit on a table so they're kind of sized big or the logo, and the object on the far right is a modular shelf unit. Maybe I should go with something a little easier to identify like a sofa or a bed. The thing is that I do furniture as well as decor. I also build aquariums and lighting. Mainly interior stuff, but I like the funkier modish designs...lots of shiny wood, plastic, chrome and glass.

Ok back to the drawing board!

MoxZ?? How into having your furniture on your sinage are you? For me I would rip them right out. A good logo doesnt need to have that. Maybe keep the wood finishing and create a logo that IS a piece of furnitre??

I am thnking something like a really ornate table?? (doesnthve to be one you created) which is on an anugle and you name on the top??

Im nto great at photoshop so i couldnt create it... but that i think would be awesome... shows what you are about without the cluttering
